Keeps large dog out

I bought one of these gates off another site then bought a second one from here. The height is perfect but the opening is so narrow everyone has to turn sideways to enter the room. It's not at all good being ONLY pressure mounted. I threw the screws and holders away on the first gate since I didn't think I'd need them for a standard doorway but you will need to install these...it's not an option like it states. It slips constantly but you can only tighten so much or the gate won't shut. The supposed 'rubber' grips are more of a plastic material(hence why it slips). When you shut the gate, you lower the lever to keep the gate closed, you push down to hear a click to lock it. I can unlock easily with one hand but others have to use both hands. The second one is installed with the 'optional' screws & cups and is very sturdy. So besides being narrow and not stable as pressure mounted only-it's a wonderful piece that I wish I had discovered sooner!

Well made... but does not fit opening!

I do like how this gate is made... sturdy and fairly easy to open up with one hand (but not so easy as a kid could do it...). The main problem is that it is very difficult to set up in my home. We have an older townhome, with stairs that have a metal railing. That is only one part of the problem. I had hoped to secure the 3 corners and see how well it settled, and go from there. Unfortunately, the gate without the small expansion is much too small for the opening, and with the expansion, is just a bit too large to be able to use the "cups" that secure the gate to the wall. SO, we had to forgo the wall cups. Also, the gate has to be tightened JUST right, so as not to block the door from opening. This means the gate, at least in our situation, isn't quite sufficiently tight to the walls and rail. I cannot fix the width of the opening problem which means it will never be as sturdy as it should be, but i will be able to jury-rig the metal railing/tightening issue with some strategically placed zip ties. Hopefully you would not have any problems with this gate, as our situation is probably pretty rare. Good luck.

The door can not close

Before we buy this door, we read the reviews that are very good (4.4/5.0). After we get it, It is so difficult to set up. We follow the instruction and try our best to set up. But the door can not close. I return this item to store, but shipping charge can not get refund.

So far so good

The gate is helping to keep my two large dogs in the basement and away from the temptations of the upper levels of the house (bedroom, sofa, toilet, etc). I have only had it one week, so the durability is yet unknown, but so far, it is doing just fine. It comes w/ a permanent install kit that i chose not to use. The instructions are little difficult if you skip the attachment of the gate to the wall, permanently, but I managed to figure things out. Overall: 4.5/5 stars

useful

I bought this item to keep my puppy from going into the living room. I put it up at the kitchen divide. I chose this one because of it's highth as my pet likes to jump high! The gate opening is narrow, so if you are overweight it may be a problem. Otherwise this is a good durable product.

Regalo Review

This is a great product. My wife and I have dogs and a new baby. Prior to the Regalo, we were utilizing the wooden baby gates. After one of the dogs chewing its way through the gate, we decided to go with metal. This gate is certainly durable. Our dogs have behaved remarkably with the new gate. Since our baby is only 5 months, I am unable to tell how effective it will be when she begins walking. The good thing about this product is the safety mechanism in opening the gate. Unless the child see's how to open the gate, I do not foresee our child (and future children) opening the gate. My wife and I will be purchasing another Regalo for the other entry point so we have two walk-thru gates to enter into.

GREAT PRODUCT!!

This is a wonderful gate! I purchased it to keep our new dog from attacking our cat. I originally bought a smaller gate but she jumped over it like it wasn't even there. This one is tall, convenient (you walk through it) sturdy and such a great bargain - (I shopped around) I would definitely recommend this gate to anyone who needs one.

Finally!

So my soon to be two year old has figured out almost every gate we have owned, until now! This gate is the perfect height so she can not move the dining room chairs over to the gate and climb over like others. The locking latch is perfect because we can slide it over with our hands covering it so she doesn't see what we are doing, which means she can't figure out how to unlatch it! You do need to screw it into the door frame but that wasn't an issue. The only thing I don't particularly like is the bar on the bottom that you have to step over, it is about an inch high, we haven't tripped over it yet and hopefully we won't. Another thing I would like to point out is that the gate opening is not very wide so it is a little tricky carrying my toddler and diaper bag through it but I have gotten used to it. Overall this is the best gate I have ever purchased! I would recommend it to anyone with kids or pets.

taller than all other gates we found

This gate is taller than any other gate we could find. I checked all kinds of websites & stores and this was the tallest we found. It was around $50 & well worth it. No other gate we tried has stopped our 2 year old climber from getting over them until this one. The only issue we have had with this one is he put his legs through the bars the first few days and he fell and tripped over the middle part that runs across the floor when it is open. So as long as you are right there when they walk through the gate Im sure that would help.

Great solution

Our youngest dog could jump a traditional baby gate without thinking twice. This gate has the height that it is no longer an issue. We have it placed above the trim which gives it a couple extra inches in height. It is wonderful to be able to open it with a simple opening of the latch to step through.
