Small pet can squeeze through

I bought this gate to keep my pet rabbit from entering my bedroom unsupervised (he likes to chew the dresser). When I installed the gate in the doorway he could squeeze through between the door frame and the gate. When I added the extension the gate was too wide for the doorway. I finally installed it an angle with on end against the door frame and one against the wall in front of the door frame. It works because the end bars are closer to the door frame, but it doesn't look so great. I can see how this gate would be perfect for a baby or a larger pet, but my medium sized bunny who is about the size of an average cat could squeeze through. The step through is perfect and makes getting in and out of the room really easy.

great gate

Gate is sturdy and well built. Securing to walls is strong and well thought of. Pros: if installed correctly, would be hard to knock down. Locking latch takes two hands and well built. Cons: for me opening is small. Bar across the bottom, trip hazard. Believe if kicked enough or stepped on, would eventually bend. Lock is hard to manage if in a hurry. All said and done, using it to separate dogs from bedrooms. So it will work for that if you don't have to travel in or out a lot. For what I paid great deal. Current price OK deal

A great gate for an active puppy.......

The first gate I ordered had a break in one of the cross members (a faulty joining process). `Returned it, got a refund, and ordered another one. The replacement works great and is high enough (41"} to keep my Jack Russel puppy from jumping over it. The gate door works easily and latches securely too. The puppy has tried valiantly to get through and over it, but to no avail. `Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I got a "lemon", but I`m happy now.

Great Product !

Works great to keep my dog and cat out of my work, bath and bedroom areas when I don't want them in there. Small kitty can get through the bars at the ends, which are 3" wide at the ends and only 2" between middle bars, extended out to 38.5". Soon cat will grow larger and not be able to get through. Gate works great. Easy to install. Sturdy, but would not use with declining stairway for a baby, only same level doorways. Great product !

Product met expectations, however it was installed at top of stairs with spindal posts, we zip tied one side due to the feeling if the baby pushed hard enough it would eventually give. Door opening is also a bit snug when carrying the child in one arm.

Gate is too narrow, DOES require tools/perm. mount

One thing wrong about the Walmart.com description is that it says no tools required (ie. pressure mounted). The very first instruction on the manual says you must screw caps into the door frame or not use the product due to safety problems... so Walmart is right that you could TECHNICALLY pressure mount it & leave it be, but the manufacturer specifically forbids one from doing such, as it could pop free. The design itself is poorly thought out. It is well constructed from what I could tell, but the gate portion, ie what you have to fit your body through, is very narrow (about the same size as a clothes hanger). Hold a coat-hanger up to your midsection and see how much room is left to get an idea of the opening size. I myself have a 36'' waist, which I don't feel qualifies me as much larger than average, and it was a tight squeeze for me. A lot of the reviews stressed carrying babies & items through the gate as being a tight fit: let me clarify... walking through this gate, even empty-handed, without turning sideways is a tough proposition. Again, seems nicely made, poorly designed. Does have to be mounted semi-permanantly through use of wall cups, and an approx. 20'' opening is much too small to be practical.

Good for Large Breed Dogs

I bought this to install at my kitchen entrance. I am using it for my dog, a golden retriever puppy who will apparently be able to scale the 30 inch versions of these gates when full grown. This has worked great for keeping her in one part of the house and gives her space when I am away - and I think the height will be beneficial. It's hard to say how durable it will be long-term, but quality and price seems to fit exactly what I needed.

Pretty good for what I needed it for

Maybe my doorway was bigger than it's intended use (it fits the listed specs, though) but it's a tad wiggly. I bought it to keep my dog in the kitchen. So far she hasn't been to jump it (and I doubt she will ever)...she easily got over a normal sized baby gate.

Good buy

We bought this gate to confine our small dogs (that jump high) while we are away. Our door-size was awkward--too wide for the gate alone and too narrow for the extension--so we had to be creative in making it work for us. We opted not to use the adjusters on one end to give us a better fit. Then we used trim work to keep it stable so that it wouldn't slip out of place. Overall, we are very please with the gate. It is easy to open and close and secure, once the release is locked into place it cannot be jolted open.

Not as great as the shorter gates

The pressure at the top is inadequate. I have another, shorter, Regalo gate and it works great. The pressure at the top is strong enough to hold it in place and it never falls despite walking through it all day every day. This taller one doesnt hold up the way the shorter one does. Every time younwalk through it it falls through the door way. The screws just tire uo the door frame and fell out
