dog broke it in a week
while this gate is awesome and i really like it, my dog broke it with no problem at all. he managed to break one of the bars and then he could squeeze right through giving him access to the whole house! however we fixed it ourselves so well see how well that works out. its just a little irritating that we had to buy a 42.00 dollar gate and turn around a week later and spend 10.00 to fix it. but otherwise it is a nice gate just not dog durable.
Doesn't work for cats
Before buying this gate, I read all the reviews to see if people said it was effective for cats. At least a couple of reviewers said it worked well for theirs, which is impossible to believe unless they have REALLY large cats, REALLY stupid cats, or the product has been redesigned since their reviews. My cats walked right through, and they're average-size. So disappointing. Especially so since I had to buy two--the first arrived without the six-inch extension. However, WalMart did give me an adjustment on the price when I complained. If you're buying this for a child or mid-sized dog, it's worth a try. It seemed like a quality product for the price, and it's the tallest walk-through gate I found. I was planning to install mine a few inches off the floor for a little extra height.
Not meant for heavier animals or children
will not hold much weight because the pressure mounting system wont let you tighten it fully because the door will not open if u do. Bought it to keep dogs apart but the dogs start at 50 lbs so when they push on it or jump on it and pull the on the gate it pops open even when locked not just latched.its not worth the money in my opinion because you cant use it for larger dogs or children because they can move it from the doorway. although it maybe better used for stairs. dont know i didnt try it on a stairway
Fit our needs!
When looking for a gate to block off my hallway from my two crazy medium sized dogs, I knew I would need an extra tall gate just to make sure they couldn't jump it- which they definitely can't. My only concern before ordering this gate was whether or not my 6 year old son with SPD would be able to open it himself so he would feel trapped. This was put at ease with this gate! Since it is only being used as a doggy barrier, I am able to close the gate by pushing the handle down so that it is resting ontop of, rather than locked under, the red sliding safety tab. This way my son is able to open and close it on his own with no problem as long as the handle is not locked in place. The only thing I wished is that this gate had a larger walk-through area for bringing baskets of laundry through, or whatever you might be carrying. It seems it is a standard size though. Also, plan on hard mounting this gate! It definitely won't hold up unless you do. So if you don't plan on or want to put holes in the walls or door frame then this probably isn't the gate for you. This gate has worked great in our hallway. We also purchased one to block off my son's playroom. I totally recommend it! You won't have to worry about your little ones figuring out how to open this gate on their own when handle is locked in proper place- I found it to be a two handed operation although the box says one. Plus, your little one would have to be fairly strong and on tippy toes with hands over head to even attempt it, so I don't see how a 3 year old could do this as another reviewer suggested.
Perfect for what I wanted
I bought this gate to try & keep my cats out of our baby's room. It works perfect, my cats haven't gotten into the room yet, it's tall enough that they won't jump over it. The only 2 things I would complain about are the fact that on the bottom of the gate, by the opening, the bars are kind of far apart & a cat can easily fit through there. We just zip tied the extension part to the gate to fix the problem. Also, I'm 9 months pregnant & the opening of the gate is pretty narrow to fit through. Other than that, that gate is perfect!
Works for me
Using this gate to separate the spaniel and the siamese. We installed just outside a doorway (as you would if door was at end of hallway)so it does not interfere with the closing of the door or the use of the doorknob. Easy to set up.(my eighteen year old put together and set in place in under 5 minutes without even reading the instructions). We did not use the plastic caps that were provided because the walls are paneling/brick. We've had it for a couple weeks and use it daily. Sturdy and easy to open and close although it does take two hands to open. Love the height, latch is at a level that requires no bending for those over 50. Shopped around alot and this is the best gate for a great price. Price ($42)was less than half of most gates. I would highly recommend this gate.
A great price and product.
This turned out to be the most wonderful gate ever to keep my little monsters (Jack Russell Terriors) from getting into areas I don't want them in. The height is great, they can't get close to the top. It seems to be wide enough for most doors. It comes with an extension piece, but I didn't need it. I was able to put this up in 10 minutes (without the added door frame supports), but I could have installed it even faster with a second set of hands. It is very stable. If you can't get it to work, then you probably don't have the end turn screws adjusted correctly. If you installed the included (round screw in holders) supports, I think it would also be useful for large dogs. Overall a great price and product.

I love Regalo baby products; I was so excited when I started looking for a tall baby gate, and found this one. It's by far the tallest one I've been able to find. I bought it and had it shipped to store. It arrived sooner than I expected. After getting it set up, and using it for about a week, I have to say that, overall, I LOVE IT! I share a room with a 2 year old. She has learned how to climb out of her crib. She has been climbing out and wreaking havoc without anyone noticing. She has also been waking up my elderly grandmother. A baby gate in front of the bedroom door was a must. My bedroom door is positioned so that there's a wall on one side of the door, and a 3 inch "lip" on the other side. Perfect for a baby gate. Pros: Tall- This is 41 inches tall. It's taller than my 2 year old. It's almost as tall as I am. Wall mounted AND pressure mounted- My two year old is fierce and ferocious. I needed something that wouldn't collapse under her weight. I haven't wall mounted it, yet. I've been using this for a week as pressure mounted. She's tugged on it. She's pushed on it. She's thrown a temper tantrum on it. The cat has used it as a spring board. It's stood up and not shifted under any of that. Easy to Install- This was so easy. I unboxed it, and was a little concerned because the door just kept swinging. It's supposed to do this. As you tighten it, the door jamb gets closer to the gate closure. It's very secure now. But be careful! You can tighten it too much! If you do this, the gate won't open at all. Oops. It's an easy fix though. I have yet to try the hardware to mount it into the wall. All pieces came with it though. I came with one extension, that I didn't HAVE to use, but I did anyway. It seemed a little more secure. The extension will fit on either side of the gate. Ease of Use- It's easy to use. It has taken me about a week to adjust to it, but I can use it one-handed now. You pull back on the red tab AND lift up at the same time. It's a little awkward at first. The best part is that the baby can't open it. Several of the gates that we've tried, she's been able to open them or climb over them. Narrow Bars- The bars spaced very narrowly. My cat can't squeeze through them. There is also nothing horizontal on the gate that the baby can use to climb over. She's climbed over several pressure mounted gates before, because of the horizontal bar. This gate has nothing like that. Cons: Narrow opening- The actual gate opening is narrow. I can fit through it walking normally. The baby can fit through it walking normally. I have to stand on tiptoe and walk sideways through the gate if I'm carrying the baby. This may not be an issue for someone who is a little taller than I. I'm 5'4". This is really the only issue I have with this baby gate. This is a great baby gate! I do not regret this purchase at all.
A much better alternative!!
This gate is GREAT!! Trying to keep the dogs from going upstairs to the bedrooms has always been difficult.. we used baby gates of all kinds and have ruined the sheetrock at the stairway with the pressure type gates. This gate actually has mounting hardware that makes it so that doesn't happen. It took about a half hour to install properly.. needed longer mounting screws (the ones supplied were too small) but thankfully my husband is a general contractor and had exactly what we needed. The gate is extra tall so that our mini-pin can't jump over it which was a must as well... she loves a challenge!! I would recommend this gate to everyone with similar issues.
Amazing
41' inches is great for your little climber. Eventually, more like any day now, hah, I am sure he will master this great par core style, but for now we have 3 of these Gates and there is nothing else like it. Believe me, we've been through to many for a little one that just turned 2
