I purchased this generator because of frequent power outages in my area. It has electric start and I love that it can run on gasoline or propane. It starts easily and runs fairly quietly for a generator this size. I am running it on propane because I always have a couple of 20# grill cylinders in my storage shed..

You cannot use it as a standby generator. The RUN switch cannot be left in the run position with the motor off. If you do, the battery will run down. In the run position I'm told that a trickle charger should not be used. The big reason why I bought this was to avoid having to trudge outside in the middle of as snow storm to get it started. Granted, it then is just the flick of a switch and a push of a button, but I'm telling you, the snow and ice storms around here will require full winter garb before getting to the generator. On top of that, I'm recently disabled, leaving my wife to this task. Both she & I thought it was going to be started from inside. Major disappointment. Theoretically, I could hard wire a leg of the run switch to inside the house. Then I could control it all from inside. But, I'm sure Westinghouse will consider this a violation of sorts, and void the warranty. I'm having an electrician out to the house to get his opinion. What it comes down to is this: Why have a remote start key fob if you need to go to the generator first in order to use it? Now the good stuff. Once it's running and hooked into our transfer switch, it powers along without a hiccup. Well pump comes on, and the motor doesn't even hint at strain. The unit, for its weight, is relatively easy to roll around. Controls, outside of above mentioned obstacles, are well laid out and easy to understand. Dual Fuel. Ahhhh, very nice. In the future I will be running on a dedicated propane tank, but for now I'm on gasoline. The same electrician will be installing a service interrupt automatic transfer switch to replace my manual transfer switch. This is going to be great, once I figure a way around the fact that this generator can't be left in the power-up ready position. It is not a stand-by generator if you have to stand by it to make it run. What good is a remote start remote start if you have to walk to the generator first?. I'd like to see any one argue against that if you were in my shape. I can barely walk at this point.

Bought brand new and would only run off propane. Had to contact Westinghouse and go through a few steps. They emailed me and provided me with a service location to drop it off at for it to be diagnosed and repaired. Not really what I was hoping for and sure worries me now on the reliability of this generator. Also wasn’t excited about having to load up a 250lb generator and drive it in to town to leave it for “at least two weeks”, according to the service center.

We are very pleased with the overall quality and features of the WGen9500DF, and particularly like the dual fuel feature and ease of ignition. Overall, the WGen9500DF is quieter than our previous generator that was smaller. Instructions for use were well-worded and easy to understand.

I've had quite a few generators and in the past and it has helped me figure out what I wanted and needed. This generator has it all. Power, autonomy, remote start and stop, all the outlet types I need and above all, dual fuel capacity. I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I'm not saying that this generator is the best just because it's the brand I've bought, I've done a lot of research (thanks to the Internet) and this generator was always reviewed as being in the top ten in its category. It's what I've been needing and it does justice to its reviews.

I haven't used it yet but it looks like a really great machine where the foot pegs go in two of the nuts were messed up the bolts didn't want to go in I got one of them to go. The other one I to use a different bolt and nut. I'm excited for when the time comes to use it.

Ordering anything online that needs to be delivered is always a gamble when it comes to receiving the product fully intact and undamaged. I was very pleased in this case, the generator was delivered without any damages. The high quality of the generator is quite evident. The packaged accessories included with the generator made assembly very easy. The Manual had all of the information I needed to feel comfortable operating this unit. Would definitely recommend this generator based on my unboxing experience today. The remote control is an added bonus!

Bought a month ago and no regrets, Pretty quiet compared to my old generator and much easier to handle. It is compatible with a GENERLINK Transfer switch (the one that sits just behind the electric meter outside your house. Dual fuel is great option. IF gas gets too expensive I have an option to propane. Starts up quickly with electric start. Should run whole house easily.. we do have a pretty efficient house. All i need now is a hookup to charge an electric car if power goes out. Power goes out a lot here as we are surrounded by provincial park on one side and nature /wildlife reserves on other side. LOTS of 70 to 80 foot trees and power lines go through these areas.

Received the generator as expected. Had great documentation to get the unit set up, which only took 15 minutes. Documentation was also very well written to get the unit started on propane. The unit is relatively easy to maneuver as well with the built in handle. Meeting all expectations I had upon deciding to purchase this generator.

Bought this a few days ago during an power outage, haven’t got to use it during an outage yet but the next one I will be prepared, I am doing a low load break in of the engine for 5 hours and oil change but the generator started without hesitation with the push start system, only hassle was rolling it in garage where I wanted it.
