Terrible watermelon

Watermelon was flavorless, I picked it because it had great scaring on surface of outer skin and nice yellow outside spot but it definitely wasn’t worth what I paid, I’m very good at picking ripe watermelons being from the south but this definitely fooled me, I won’t buy watermelons from Sam’s again.

Do not buy...

Not sure where these are coming from but, the water melon was picked to early and had a bitter after taste with some sections of it hard like I was chewing on the rind, I know this is not an easy thing to do, picking a watermelon at the right time of ripeness from the fields and still make it to market while being fresh, but this is the second watermelon I have bought from the Walmart chains that has been terrible. Following all of the advise and experience from my youth of finding a watermelon that is sweet, looking at the tail of the vine, checking for the thickness of the lines, the color and the weight, did nothing. I used to go with my dad to pick up watermelons out of the fields in Georgia, neither of these purchases would have made it on our truck, and they should not have made it into the stores.

My husband bought it

My husband decided we needed another watermelon and we still had some from the last one I bought but it was fine that he bought one. What is not fine as he does not know how to pick out a watermelon! He did not pick one that had a yellow side that had been ripened in the field, he picked one that was green all over so it wasn’t as sweet and good as a lot of them have been.

Ewwww

Somebody spit a huge amount into the watermelon pallet container. Many of the watermelon’s were coated in spit. Absolutely disgusting! No way of knowing if an employee did it or if a customer did it. Needs to have a closer. I kept on things like that. Watermelon was OK after being sterilized. Lost my appetite for it though.

Unacceptable

I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with the consistently poor quality of watermelons being sold at Sam's Club. Time and time again, the watermelons are either severely under-ripe, overly ripe, flavorless, mushy, or completely unfit for consumption. Customers should not have to gamble every time they purchase produce, especially when paying premium prices from a retailer of this size and reputation. What is most insulting is that consumers are left absorbing the loss. Instead of receiving fresh, high-quality produce, we are being sold products that often end up directly in the trash — wasting not only money, but also time and trust. This reflects a complete failure in quality control and raises serious concerns about the standards Sam's Club accepts from its produce suppliers. If growers cannot consistently provide quality produce, then Sam's Club needs to reevaluate who they are doing business with immediately. It is unacceptable for suppliers to push inferior or borderline-spoiled produce onto customers simply to recoup their own losses. Consumers should never be treated as a dumping ground for substandard products. I will no longer purchase watermelons from Sam's Club. Customers shop there expecting freshness, reliability, and value — not repeated disappointment and wasted money. A company of this magnitude should have far higher standards and far greater accountability when it comes to the quality of the food it sells. Customers deserve fresh, high-quality produce every single time, not excuses, inconsistency, and frustration. I wouldn't eat this if I were stranded in the desert.

Bad fruit at Sams

Sams club routinely sells the worse fruit. The fruit is picked unrippened and shipped to the USA from other countriess. Its clear that Sams corporate either does not eat their own products or just don't care. Eating unrippened fruit is terrible tasting. I have also purchased unrippened plums which you can not eat out of the bag. The plums must rippen first and about the time you can begin eating the plums they go bad.

Hit or Miss

We've had some very good watermelons in the past. But this year we got one even the dog and chickens wouldn't eat. It was so dry, it had a huge crack down the middle when we cut it open. We just don't take the risk anymore and purchase watermelons elsewhere. On a positive note, they did give us our money back for it. Gotta Love SAMs even if we don't always love their watermelon.

Early Season 🍉 SURE!

$8 for a Watermelon. It was Big and in early April Surprisingly not bad! Midly sweet, however the flesh was a bit soft which made me wonder 🤔. Do they grow 🍉 in HOT-HOUSES? THIS EARLY SEASON was Perfect for my smoothie. Not the best for eating just yet for my taste, but some won't mind. I will purchase again in May.

Rotten

Bought a watermelon but while picking it up, my hand went into a rotten watermelon (there were several rottwn ones). Thats not the part that frustrated me, the Sams employee is what frustrated me. I asked her if she a had paper towels and her response was "well, no, but...." and then she proceedes to start checking costumers through the line. She could have called someone through that amazing ear piece, but isntead she just chose to ignore. I walked across Sams to the bathroom but by then the nasty watermelon had gotten on my clothes and down my arm.

Great watermelons

Sams’s had a continuous supply of great tasting watermelons. I have purchased around 10 here this summer and only had problems with two, that is a 80% average. They were sweet and rich in color. I was purchasing from another store where they were pretty good, but someone told me about Sams’s , which I did most of my shopping at, so I decided to give them a try. It is hard to find really good watermelons so I stay faithful to the place that is most consistent. Sams’s proved to be convenient and consistent with regard to this fruit.
