Great investment for a quality generator

Today I fired it up for the first time after connecting the battery and adding oil and fuel. I am very satisfied with its ease of operation, user friendly control panel (see pic), and easy to follow instruction manual. The generator is enclosed in a hard plastic shell (which greatly reduces the noise level) and has two panels to access the battery and add oil. This machine weighs in at over 90 lbs., so the rear wheels and retractable telescopic handle (similar in design to those on large pieces of luggage) are greatly appreciated for moving it around. I tested the 3 ways to start the generator and they performed flawlessly. First with the manual pull-cord, then the electric start, and then the remote electric start (my favorite method!). The generator comes with a 0.6L bottle of 4-stroke small engine oil, an AC power adapter to charge the battery if needed (though once the generator is fired up it automatically charges the battery), a funnel to add oil, and a socket tool for changing the spark plug. I purchased 4 extension cords: (2) 25 Foot Lighted Outdoor Extension Cord - 10/3 SJTW Yellow 10 Gauge Extension Cable with 3 Prong Grounded Plug, (1) 25 Foot Lighted Outdoor Extension Cord with 3 Electrical Power Outlets - 10/3 SJTW Yellow 10 Gauge Extension Cable with 3 Prong Grounded Plug, and a 50 Foot Lighted Outdoor Extension Cord - 10/3 SJTW Yellow 10 Gauge Extension Cable with 3 Prong Grounded Plug to ensure they will handle the loads without getting hot. The 10 Gauge size was recommended by Westinghouse for the load I'd be drawing in relation to the length of cord (see pics). One final note, though the generator is encased in a strong plastic cover, the manual warns not to use it in rain or snow. I therefore built a wooden enclosure to house the generator since I live in the Pacific Northwest where we have lots of rain and wind storms. I added breathing vents and a large vent for the exhaust. I then covered the entire box with Flex Seal to protect it from the elements. All in all I am very satisfied with this generator rated at 3700 Running Watts/4500 Peak Watts which will allow me to run my full-size refrigerator, operate an indoor ceramic heater and some smaller appliances and/or lights.

Great Features! Quiet, Easy to Use

I bought this for my small business, it has great feature - my favorite part is the LCD screen for the amount of gas is in the generator. Previous generator had a toggle level under some plexi glass, but when that glass was dirty, it was hard to tell if it was filled or not. This is a much better way of telling.

GREAT GENERATOR

I bought this generator a little over a month ago and it has been a great purchase. Used it extensively while dry camping in Virginia for a week over the July 4th Holiday. Ran my trailer and air conditioner all week and never had an issue. Also used it during a short power outage at my home and powered everything I needed.

Best Value and features

I needed to upgrade my Champion 2000 inverter I us in a smaller hunting trailer. After comparing specs and reviews of a similar Champion model to the iGen 4500, the choice was easy. The iGen 4500 holds more fuel and has longer running times. It also has a scrolling screen that provides run time, remaining fuel, amp draw and will also charge it's own battery. I have a much larger RV with AC and this will handle everything I have running and turned on at the same time. It will run all night and I don't have to get up and refill it in the middle of the night. Remote turns it on when you need it and off when you don't want to walk outside when it's cold, rainy or snowing. What more could you ask for.

Powerhouse

I purchased in August 2021 to augment my on board rv generator that was having issues (1997 generac). I plan on using in camp for hunting. I have been using over a month now and this unit was the talk in camp. One guy had the honda 3000 and was considering selling his and buying this unit. It has remote start, more powerful, just as quiet and comes with wheels, that the honda did not. I am at the 23 hr point and am changing the oil today (recommended is 25 hrs-close enough). I did put on the high altitude kit because I use it at 7000 ft. Runs awesome. The kit was a bit of a pain to put on. Could not find a good westinghouse video for installation of the high altitude kit. Onan has a good video and the units are nearly identical. Onan costs about 20-25% more.

High hopes for a long lasting powerful machine

Purchased this for my RV to run A/C and Microwave etc. Set up was easy. Started up right away. Ran initial oil for one hour unloaded then changed. Oil was surprisingly dirty and had metal bits. Ran another hour and changed again. Oil looked better. Ran third under 25% load for 20 min. Oil again somewhat dirty but much less metal bits. Seems to run well, has nice features. My only complaints so far are that the cover edges are too sharp and will cut you if you're not careful. also the fit and finish is somewhat sloppy...covers don't line up great and they rattle when running, and the rubber on top comes off if you brush up against it. Time will tell how it will hold up but I am hopeful. Would recommend so far.

Very Quite

I wanted to get as small and quite a generator that would provide power during emergencies for my home. I started up after a few attempts and it was very quite and for the power very maneuverable with the telescoping handle. Be careful adding the oil when setting up or you'll make a big mess. Go slow and check to see if it is emptying from fill plug so it doesn't overflow too much. I have not had the chance to use it to power anything yet, but turns on and all the functions seem to work so far. I'll have to put it through it's paces before the next power outage to make sure it handles the load I want it to.

Bad experience

Out of the box, I've had nothing but issues. Push button start won't work. Remote start won't work. The manual start works 50/50. I tried to fix the choke and manual start worked once and then got stuck again. Tried charging the battery overnight hoping that would fix it. Nothing. Even pulled off all the covers to look for a commonly disconnected cable and that was hooked up just fine. Will try replacing the spark plug and if that doesn't work, it gets shipped back. This has been a nightmare. Was supposed to use for a camping trip in the next few days.

Igen4500

I purchased this until to replace a noisy old Troy-Bilt generator that was 15 years old And I can’t be happier so quiet I didn’t realize it was running at all read some prior reviews saying that the choke was stuck and some wiring was loose or disconnected making generator run ruff I DID NOT experience any of this added oil and gas and that’s it A little pricey but well worth it

Quiet, well designed, good price

Received generator in good condition. Directions straight forward to set up. Only thing was to connect battery I had to plug positive and negative terminal harness to generator harness. Wires were already connected to battery although negative terminal connection was loose.Replaced plastic oil fill plug with a magnetic one to capture metal shavings during break in period. Unit started right up. Very quite. Plugged in a chest freezer and refrigerator, worked well. Fairly easy to wheel around with luggage style telescoping handle.Time will tell of it’s durability.
