I was looking for an inverter generator that was quiet yet powerful enough to provide home backup for a gas furnace, some appliances and key lighting circuits. I had looked at other brands but they were either more or less powerful than I needed or weren't in my price range. I read a review of this model in consumer reports and decided this is the unit I need. It's VERY quiet, more so than I was expecting. Setup was very straight forward but a little messy (I overfilled the oil). And it started right up. Time will tell but so far I am really pleased with this purchase.

Have only had it running for a few hrs, and so far so good. Started up well within a few pulls. Trying it out on refrigerator and freezer, along with a few lights. Nice and quite and appears to be well built (except for the access cover's locking mechanism - not a big deal but appear cheesy). I plan on changing the oil after 10 or so hours with higher-quality oil than came with it.

I PURCHASED THIS A WEEK AGO AND RAN IT FOR THE MOST PART AT A REMOTE HUNTING CAMP. FIRST OF ALL I COME FROM A PAST OF USING SOME GREAT HONDA GENERATORS AND WAS SCEPTICAL OF GETTING FROM THAT LINE BUT I MUST SAY THAT SO FAR I'M IMPRESSED WITH THE FEATURES THAT I GET WITH THIS NEW IGEN4500.

I just purchased this generator and have not used it yet but Westinghouse thinks of everything including a good funnel for filling the oil. It appears to be good quality and they have made hooking up the battery even easier with just a plug in. Outstanding features. The layout of the front is not what is shown in the manual so that is something they could improve a little. Once I try it I will probably give it 5 stars.

Will Use For Hurricane Power Outages. Starts right up. Only used it for testing so far. I like it although there is No 220 output. I should have noticed this. Seems odd that the Unit requires no load when starting and when turning off. Makes the remote kind of useless.

We've run a food trailer for several years and I've been breaking my back loading and unloading a larger (8750KW) generator. A friend suggested I try his Westinghouse iGen4500. We used his once and LOVED it so much we purchased our own. I can now lift the generator into the truck without ramps. The iGen4500 is so quiet, that we only place it 50' away from the trailer instead of 100' like the larger one. Most importantly, considering the current gas prices, we are using less gasoline. Our old generator would use 4+ gallons over six hours. The iGen4500 used only a little more than one gallon. We love our new Westinghouse iGen4500!

Very well designed - Compact, Bullet proof case. Excellent connection features. Fast effortless start. Quiet. I keep mine on the back deck. Only complaint is that the bracket for the telescoping handle (for easy wheeling) gets in the way of trying to drag it up stairs single handedly. My IGen wintered on the back deck under a waterproof cover in Minnesota and didn't complain.

after another week long power outage, using a less than stellar noisy generator, I sprang for the Westinghouse iGen4500, money well spent! with everything I need to run in the house having sensitive electronics, I needed an inverter generator to protect the fridge, freezer, TV, stereo...all the important stuff! A surge suppressor will not save them from a cheap generator! This machine is incredibly quiet, and seems to be extremely fuel efficient, which is great when the gas stations all around you are also out of power! Something to note though is the outlet for your generator cord is NOT a 30A Twist-Lock like most generators, it's a TT-30 style. don't get caught with the wrong plug when you need it most!:)

This generator is amazing, its quite, easy to move, and easy to start up. The only problem I had with it was that it ran fantastic for about 19 hours and then without warning or reason it just shut-off and now I cannot get it started. I have tried several things but have been unsuccessful thus far. I am waiting on a technian to get back in touch with me to help diagnois the problem. Hopefully it is something simple and nothing to complicated. Even with this problem I would still buy this product again.

We bought this for camping with our travel trailer. Would have given it 5 stars but after following the initial startup procedure it still would not start. Good thing my husband is mechanical - he had to take it apart and found that the electric choke had not been plugged in. Once he fixed that it started right up. Seems to be a good generator: very quiet, nice features and small footprint.
