Powerful unit that I can load by myself

Bought this generator for the sound level and maneuverability. It weighs just under a hundred pounds and I can load and unload this without any help. Have no issues with the unit at all. Added oil & gas, connected the battery and started it up. Done.

Has all the features that one would need !!!

I bought this for a backup for my camper if we are boondocking. Also wired up a receptacle on my house with an interlock switch on the breaker panel to power up my house when we experience power outages. This unit does everything that you would expect it too. Very easy to operate, my wife is very comfortable in starting it and running it.

Great Features and One Critique

This little guy checked all the right boxes for purchase!! Quieter than most other gens out there, easily portable, CARB compliant, competitive price compared to similar brands/makes, solid/sleek chassis, power supply that fit our needs, electric/key fob/manual start options, an "eco" mode that gas-saves when applicable, and easily readable data/outlet/breaker/switch panel on front. Awesome features! I only have one critique for design which is the oil fill/drain plug and tank. (Which is why its "Good" and not "Excellent" rating.) 1) it is not easy to visually inspect oil level. The picture in the manual gives a perspective view of proper level, but that isn't very easy to evaluate in "real life". The dipstick is small and oil-capture etching is a little light. 2) It is not very accessible: the plug is quite inset in panel/machine. 3) Adding oil for the first time was messy, even though, supplied container was the exact size of oil tank, and the funnel should have prevented spillage. (In retrospect, the machine should have probably been tipped slightly for easy pour? maybe instructions can be updated for future newbies like me.) 4) Removing oil is also a bit cumbersome. Instructions do indicate tipping machine (in this case) to assist in draining, but the machine is heavy so it is a "2 person job". Knowing the above in advance would not have dissuaded me from purchasing, but it would have prompted a bit more research beyond what is provided in instructions. Overall, It is a great little gen that serves our needs. It powered our fridge, entertainment center and a couple of laptops with ease! No sags, surges, breaker-trips or anything. Would absolutely recommend to friends/family, and even purchase again for paralleling. (Know your extension cords for purchase too: this will make a big difference for gen usage!)

Hard to start for the first time

After numerous attempts to start this generator for the first time, I struggled with it until I went online a couple of times and looked at pictures of what could be causing the problem. Picture was hard to see. Finally got it started after about 2 hours! Now it starts like a champ!

Inverter generator

My wife and I live in mariposa California the last storm dropped a big oak tree across our driveway. Pulling down the powerline. PG&E could not get here for two days, so we pluged in our generator, which promptly quit on us! I immediately got online and went through numerous reviews and decided on a Westinghouse inverter generator. My wife and I are extremely happy we did because this thing works amazing. Started on the first pole and runs nice and quiet, unlike our old conventional generator it also supplies, the perfect amount of power that we need. We’ve used it three times so far and are extremely happy with it!

Works as advertised

Fired up on first try. Much quieter than expected. Only negative was Owners Manual has been updated and I received old manual. Easily corrected by going online. If your manual tells you to tilt the unit and drain the oil from the the fill plug opening it is wrong (suspect this was the way previous smaller units were done). Should read ...using 12mm wrench remove oil drain bolt....etc.

Like unit but started to trip breaker

I research this unit for about a month before I bought it came as advertised but after running RV for several hours started to trip breaker without anything else running in the RV not sure why it kept tripping even after we just unplugged some things it would still trip but after leaving shut off for a few hours seemed to run fine again will try one more time before calling Tech Support

Too bad the battery doesn't work

The batter was already hooked up to the cables when I attempted to hook them up. I was not able to use electric start, but started on first pull with manual system. Ran perfectly and charged just fine. I plugged in the battery charger over night and I still can't start the inverter with electric start. I wonder if the battery is bad and can't take a charge.

Great features

Bought and worked right out of the box after setup. The second time I tried to use this unit on a camping trip, the automatic choke was not working. I pulled the side panel off and manually adjusted and it started right up. Wish they made the other side panel to reconnect the auto choke easier.

Runs great, plenty of power

After the freeze that we underwent here in Texas I decided this would be cheap insurance. Since I am on Nat. gas it will power both my furnaces and keep the pipes from freezing. Many people are still recovering from this nightmare almost 1 year later. The iGen 4500 is quiet and supplies all the power I need.
