Just finished assembling my new Lifetime compost tumbler. The materials are substantial. Thick plastic (no rust) and heavy gauge steel leg assembly. The only suggestion I would have is to add another couple of spacers in between the two barrels. There is too much movement, IMHO. I will be back to review in several months on the actual performance of the tumbler. Based on materials and construction alone, I would not hesitate to purchase another one.

This device simply does not work and in not engineered to turn and hold any compost. I am an engineering professor and we would never have let this leave the design studio. The sides fall off, the band that holds the device together does not do its job, and the metal parts are made of metal that rusts... a silly design for something that is intended to be outside and get wet!

I bought this for my wife and her garden thinking that it would be a great investment (which I believe it will be), however, this is NOT a product for beginners to try and assemble! The first part of the assembly is pretty straight forward. When you get to the part where you attach the legs to the composter bins, the difficulty begins. I called Lifetime Customer Service when I ran into a roadblock and the representative that I spoke with had actually assembled this item himself! I was shocked and appreciate the training that Lifetime invests in their folks. Anyway, after speaking with him, one of the biggest hurdles was crossed (apparently, there's a slight deviation in manufacturing in China vs. other contractors that make these for Lifetime). Once I got past that point, it was pretty easy to finish assembling the unit. You just have to be careful that you don't put the legs on the wrong side of the unit as wells as how they're attached inside of the barrels or you'll have to take it apart and reverse them. If Lifetime would modify their instruction book and videos (you can find visual assembly instructions on their website as well as YouTube), this product would be much easier to assemble. Overall, it's a great product and will be very useful during our growing season.

I have owned one of these for 10 years and it was the best purchase for my garden by far. This product is amazing and the customer service from lifetime is unmatched. If any of your parts need to be replaced they are exemplary on responding and sending you replacement parts. FYI I have read many reviews about this product stating it won't last or is hard to assemble and this is simply not the case. Extremely easy to assemble and I still have the same double composting bin after 10 plus years. This compost bin is by far the best on the market and worth every cent. Thank you for lifetime for making my organic garden come to life. My fruit trees and vegetables thank you for creating the easiest to use composter on the market that has amazing soil capacity and will keep your back from visiting the chiropractor by having to turn over your compost pile each week.

After two years of owning the 60309 composer, one set of hinges just finally wore out. A quick call to customer service, a couple questions answered and I’ll be receiving a new hinge at no charge. These folks are a class act and make a very sturdy, reliable composter. Highly recommend!

Have had the Double Tumblers for about ten years and found them hold up well even on the extreme N/W corner of California with heavy rain and 'salt spray' from the Pacific Ocean. After 8-10 years the hinges did finally rust and 'lock-up' and the bands around the bins rusted and broke, however a call to Lifetime to order parts was easy with the parts being sent quickly and at no charge! Customer Service is EXCELLENT! AS IS THE PRODUCT!

First box we received was missing several parts. It was a huge pain to return it. When we finally got the second box, the assembly took days. As none of the parts would fit. The holes were too small for some of the bolts, drilled off to not fit, etc. Such a waste of tike and the return process was noybthe greatest the second time arpund.

I am over 4 hours in and still don't have it together. If I ever finish it, I hope it works well. I would not recommend this as the directions are poor and should be in a different order. You can't see to line up the holes on the pole/legs. Terrible!

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the material but we had trouble with the assembly. The instructions were not clear when assembling the panels of the barrels. Each panel has to go together in a certain way to attach to the side. The bottom pieces have a symbol to match. It would help to number each piece. We assembled it wrong and had to disassemble and start over because the place for screws didn't match up.

I have been using this for a couple of years, and the parts literally fall apart. When I contacted Lifetime they said that there was nothing they could do about it. Let me be clear, this was from normal use. The plastic pieces essentially fell apart.
