Easy to assemble and waiting for my first batch!

This took me 3-4 hours to put together - I was at a slow pace on a hot summer day.  The instructions were easy to follow.  Per other reviews, I did assemble the base on site of its final home.  I can see how moving it would be difficult.  I have noticed some rust appearing on one end at the aeration bar so will need to contact Customer Service.  I'm a SWF who enjoys small scale gardening and do-it yourself project.  I thoroughly enjoyed assembling this product and recommend it!

Great product and warranty service

I've had this since 2012 and it works as well as advertised. I had a rusting issue with the latches and Bruce at lifetime ordered out the parts I needed. When tumbling the bin always keep the lids on the top after turning to keep the compost off of the latch mechanism to extend the life of latch assembly.

Excellent Aeration

Quite difficult to put together. If would have been very helpful if each panel had been marked with its part number. It definitely is a two person assembly. As to its function: supurb! Cooking has never been easier. The aeration is terrific from all sides as well as the center. As an added plus, there is no longer any heavy lifting and constant turning over to distribute oxygen. This is a best buy

Makes compost

We have the newer model of this composter. It looks like barrels. It was a terrible pain to assemble, but once put together, it is sturdy, good looking, easy to turn and fill. The only other minor negative thing is that the red tab that indicates the barrel in use faded in just a few months. We've already had two batches come out since February.

Could have been great if...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this double composter from Costco and it should have been great. Unfortunately it has not lasted as I expected it would for the price. I purchased it in 2013 or 14 so the warranty is up. I have already replaced the hinge on one side once and it has rusted in two again as well as the latching mechanism on the same side. The tube in the middle is rusted as well. For some reason the other side is not quite as bad, but still rusted. I guess they are not made to last a lifetime but I would have loved more than 6 years for the price. :(

Metal parts in the bins rust out quickly

These were great at first, but the hinges rusted out and fell apart in about a year. Lifetime sent me replacements, but then the latches and associated hardware began rusting and disintegrating. I fixed what I could at first to keep them in commission, but finally gave up on them when the bars rusted out. They have been all but useless for most of the time I've owned them.

Verified Purchase

Best Ever and So Easy to Use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is nearly 5 years since I purchased the Double Bin Composter. Still going strong, and in my climate, we compost year-round. Having two bins in one unit works great. No more stockpiling materials while waiting for a batch to finish. Organic gardening is my great passion and the ability to use my own home made soil amendment from what many people throw away is a good feeling. The unit looks tidy and neat and is easy to use. Thank you, Lifetime for a great garden product!

can't use 1 of the 2 composters

I have only had the Lifetime dual composter 50 Gallon for about 2 years now and it has done a pretty good job of making compost for the garden. However the latching mechanism on the left side which is the most used side has rusted so bad that we do not use it because we cannot open it. Also one of the corner pieces popped out at some point and was not noticed immediately to be replaced so there is about a 2" hole on the corner where the compost falls out when we tumble the compost. Also be careful if you need to move the unit for any reason, the plastic feet will pop off and get lost if you do not see it happen, we have lost 3 of them so far, thinking that we may just take the last one off so they match. We have one of the 80gal units also and have no issues with it so far.

Dual Tumbler - OUTSTANDING

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned a dual tumbler for a number of years. This has out preformed all the other composter's I have ever tried. Material breaks down nicely and quickly. Most importantly to me the company stands behind the product like old American manufacturing companies used to. I have had a couple of parts breakdown and I had to replace. Lifetime has shipped the parts no questions asked, timely and at no cost! I highly recommend this company who truly stands behind its products!!

Worked great at first, but didn't last

When it was shiny and new, this was great. But in about 2 years of use, the clips that control rotation no longer locked into place, the bin leaks gross compost juice from almost every seam, cracks have developed in the joints, and mice (or something) chewed a sizable hole straight through the plastic on one side. Pretty much no longer usable. We didn't use it heavily, and it was in a fairly urban, clean environment.
