My Computer is historic and everything now is wireless, this all in one is perfect for my copy, faxing and print.

Customer Service was horrible from Brothers. You need a dedicated land-line for the fax to operate properly. I have VOIP which is computer based.

The 2840 was easy to set up, receives & sends faxes quickly however this is not like the old Brother fax machines that would retain memory and print incomplete faxes if the source was disconnected and reconnected. This machine is better purposed for outgoing faxes and I would not recommend using as sole source for incoming faxes.

LCD window on this newer model fax machine is extremely difficult to read, even after making contrast adjustments. The LCD window on our 16-year-old Brothers fax machine was excellent and I fully expected a new machine model would be better, not worse. Otherwise, printing quality is very good. We use this on a dedicated fax line just for sending/receiving faxes as we have several other printers connected to our computers for printing and copying. As a stand-alone fax machine, it is very good -- except for the poor quality LCD window.

This truly is the best combo machine I have ever purchased. It's fast, easy to set up and very easy to use. Even the guys in the shop can use it without taking up my time. That's a big plus. When I did call in with a question, they were very professional and treated me like I was important. Thank you for making such a great machine.

Just upgraded to the Brother FAX-2840 from our old machine and the difference is incredible. It is much faster and have had no problems with paper jams, which were the bane of our life on the old machine. The print quality is excellent. Also, the instructions for setting up the machine were clear and easy to follow. It just took minutes to have it up and running. Very impressed and happy so far,

Purchased this particular one because the box said it did envelopes and labels, BUT it's not convenient or easy to do. To feed envelopes, you have to access the back of the machine and change some pieces....not at all convenient. To do labels, it tells you to NOT do just single labels or feed through a sheet of only partial labels. Whenever the power goes out, it reverts to landscape printing and have to reset it to portrait and I can't figure out any way to have it default to my choice of portrait printing.

We use this mainly as a printer. The unit works well, BUT there is a nightmare problem when the toner or the drum needs changing. You are treated almost as criminal for trying to change your toner (THEY want to prevent you from using some of the cheaper alternate products out there). So, changing the toner or the drum is the opposite of simple and easy.

Even though my paper feed stopped working when I first purchased it, it's still a Great printer. I spoke with Tech support for WAY too long, They sent me a new drawer, that's what I thought it might be, but it wasn't. The automatic paper feed still does not work. I just don't have the three hours it takes to sit on the phone with tech support ...Again...in order to get a refurbished printer to replace this one. Plus, this printer works so good I almost hat to give it up...even without the paper feed working. Thank you Brother...But that's about as straight as I can give it to you.
