Nice pergola. Looks great! Only problems were minor correctable. Many of the "purlins" were warped but since the wood is cedar (somewhat flexible) it could be bent into place. Also, many of the purlin predrilled screw holes were misaligned and had to be re-drilled in order the hit the joist below. It took my brother and I about 3 days to complete the assembly making a couple of correctable mistakes along the way. We just put it up last week (the week before Thanksgiving) so I don't know about longevity but I seems very sturdy. There was a few damaged parts but several extras were included so we got by. The damaged parts were ordered and quickly express shipped. It looks great over my hot tub. I covered it with a 10' x 12' tarp for weather protection and added privacy since I live in the flight path of a small airport. The tarp with bungy 4" and 6 " bungy cords in such a way that the tarp is hardly visible until you're immediately under the pergola. All-in-all I'm very satisfied with the product quality and appearance and great customer service from Backyard Discovery. I'd definitely make the same purchase decision. You gotta celebrate when a lot of effort goes into the online evaluation and selection of a product, and the purchase ends up meeting or exceeding expectation's! This one seems to be a winner...time will tell.

It’s fairly easy assembly, just follow the pictures exactly. Had several bowed boards, and a couple that had pieces knocked off. They were fairly small and not deep. I’ll fill them in with a marker of something close in color. All the pieces and all the hardware were received. Don’t expect any extra screws or anything. I had just a couple of extra long bolts left over. Started on it at 11 am and we were done by 5 pm. This included opening the boxes and separating all the pieces to make they were all there. My son did most of the work, I only carried a few thing onto my deck. I suggest you have 2 people so it can be adjusted and square. We built the ends first and carried them onto the deck. Then the lengthwise pieces where built and carried on the the ends. Doing it like that, the pieces aren’t very heavy. Not sure about the electric box, didn’t install that yet. Not sure which post I’m going to use. Yes, it does have an odor. Cedar, I liked the smell, but my son didn’t. Even with a few bowed pieces, I give this a 5 star. The bowed pieces were drawn into the other boards and turned out great. Well, that’s my 2 cents. I do recommend this if you are looking for a pergola that won’t break the bank. Good luck with yours.

Some of the boards were bowed making it hard to get some screws in on the cross beams. Otherwise it turned out beautiful.

This is definitely a heavy duty pergola built to last. Be sure to purchase from your local SAMS Club as the price is considerably lower.

Overall, it looks great in our backyard. The directions could’ve been better. For example, it would’ve been nice for them to tell us how far apart the marking should be for the roof slats.

Took a little TLC but worth it. We lacquered the wood first and it highlights better. A little configuring since some holes did not align, but once it was up it looks great.

Pergola was shipped quickly and without damage. Assembly was time consuming but not overly complicated and looks great when completed. Total assembly time for most people I would estimate in the 8-10 hr range.

Our Pergola arrived in two long heavy boxes and contained all the wood, nuts, bolts and screws needed for assembly. There were a couple of minor places on the posts where the wood had split, but no other damage. We were able to hide the split wood against a wall. It took about 6 hours to put together with 2 people and we were feeling the pain by the end of it. The instructions were a little hard to follow and the pieces were not clearly marked, and that is the reason for only 4 stars. All in all, it is a beautiful piece when fully assembled.
