The sand capacity is 100 lbs, which is two 50 lbs bags that I got for under $8 each at Home Depot, but the sand level of 100 lbs is very high in the box. So you should plan for some sand to be scattered out of the box. Otherwise, the cover also acts as a ramp, which provides more entertainment. I'd definitely buy this sandbox again.

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson's birthday. Was a bit disappointed in the size (smaller than I expected), however he was absolutely thrilled. As it turned out, it was the perfect size for him. He was happy with it, so that is all that mattered. Once we opened the box and set it up it is a really nice sandbox.

This is the cutest little sandbox! It is smaller than I expected but it serves its purpose for my two year old. It seems to be quite durable and the included accessories have been a hit. Over all I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommended to anyone with smaller kids just starting to explore their imagination.
