This gate seems sturdy but the latch is hard to use. You would want it to be difficult for a child but this one is not like their other latches that you just push and slide at the same time to open. This gate has a little locking device you have to unlock that and lift the handle then open gate then lower handle which makes it lock again, you have to use two hands which is difficult carry a child or anything else. We are using the extensions with my original shorter gate (almost same model, same brand) because it is so much easier to use.

This gate sucks for big door ways. I set it up for my 1 year old and it just looks like its going to fall over and out of place. I tighened it as far as it goes. Took it down shortly after putting it up as i do not trust it. I do not recommend buying this gate at all. With all the extensions makes it super unsturdy and not safe. I am very disappointed in this product

I was using a coffee table to keep my son out of the kitchen/dining room. But, he learned to climb over that. So, I invested in this gate. I got it pretty fast, and it was pretty simple to put together. It kind of curves at the pieces that go together... But, that's so far my only concern. It's better than a table!

I got this wide gate for my daughters playroom, since the door way is big a normal sized one wouldn't work without a lot of extensions. I installed it the way the instructions said screwed it into the wall, tightened it up so the gap to keep it closed would closed, had half an inch and the gate extensions started to bow and not stay straight, when you push on it a little bit, the screws with the padding bent out of the hole and fell... took it down and used the other type I had gotten for the up stairs down to her play room used the extra extensions I had for my two gates and that worked better than the one made for wide door ways. I put it as the up stairs gate and it works for smaller door ways had one of the smaller extensions on it and it didn't bow or move.

nice gate -We had to mount a piece of wood on both sides of the wall thought because if we added a piece it was too much and if we took it away it was to small but after we screwed the pieces of wood and painted white like the wall you couldn't even tell

Got two. Easy to install. We did not need to drill anything which is a winner for someone who is drill- phobic lol. Seems very secure. Big brother and sister got the hang of it quickly. Yet too hard for baby to do. Prob won’t be able to till he’s three. Finally peace of mind. If you’re a parent with stairs you know what I mean.

This gate is perfect. I needed a extra wide gate making it a challenge to find one at a retail store or even on-line. Among the gates I did find, this was the best for the price. It was exactly what I was looking for. It will take two people to set it up, however it was easy and had it up within ten minutes. I would recommend this product to anyone and would purchase it again if I had a need. If you haven't ever used the Walmart order on-line program, it is easy. I have been using this gate to separate our family room (used as the play room) from the kitchen. The doorway is very wide, and the gate is the perfect size with two extensions. The latch is simple enough that my 4 1/2 year old can open it herself, but it does not pop open unless you know what you're doing. When tightened properly, this gate is very sturdy and will not fall over with a young child pushing on it. My 14-month-old son is safe while he plays and cannot wander into the kitchen. The price is right, and this is a quality product for your money!

We purchased this gate to contain our new puppy.. Puppy is a Black Lab/American Bulldog mix.. yes, he's a beast... 28 lbs at 12 weeks old. That being said, I needed a gate that would hold up to that force of nature. I also needed it to be a spring mount since I was placing it up against my kitchen cabinets and I didn't want to screw into them. I (a woman) put this together with a minor amount of help from my 4 year old who basically just had to hold two sections in place while I tightened the gate. It went up in about 15 minutes... I have since placed my entire body weight (which we won't discuss) up against it and it didn't budge. It has also withstood the force of the beast... the kitchen is now known as Puppy Jail! Overall.. this is a very nice gate and I'm very happy with the purchase. The jury is still out as far as the dog is concerned!

It does what it claims. There is one width that is right in between using all sections or all but one, which is 55 inches. That is one width that does not fit well and you may need to jerryrig it to work. Otherwise great gate. Delivery was faster than expected. Order was accurate. Price was very competitive.
