I love this cake (too much). The flavor is phenomenal. The different layers make it interesting. However, be prepared...it is impossible to cut a slice and not have all the layers separate and fall about in little sticks. That part was disappointing.

While it is larger than expected, it wasn't really very good. The cake layers were extremely dry, the ganache topping was slathered on too thickly, and there was very little "mousse". Had there been more mousse, the dryness of the cake would have more tolerable. Most of it ended up going in the trash.

Only time I ever see this cake in stores or bakeries is usually when I travel. Due to covid and not able to travel this year I was surprised and happy to see this cake at Sam's. It is a big 'bar' as they call it but it's THE WORST I've ever ate. Dry cake and the mousse is not even something I'd dare calling a mousse. The cake..correction 'bar' comes frozen to the store and they just thaw it out and you can tell that by the ice crystals and water laying in the bottom of the cake tray. If your someone who just loves chocolatey sweet things well this will be up your alley but if you want a true tuxedo cake go somewhere else for it.

The reviews had me hyped for this cake, but while it was beautiful and perfectly moist, I confess I found it to be out of balance, flavorwise. The generous layer of whipped cream was no match for the unrelenting bittersweet chocolate flavor of the cake, ganache, and icing. I'll stick with tiramisu!
