I'm used to buying the store brand for everything but this time I decided to treat myself to an American staple. The flavor was so non-existent that I can't help but wonder if the "mild" version is just food coloring to make beef look more appealing as taco meat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the taco seasoning we always use. It tastes great and mixes in well. We use it to season ground beef for taco meat and also chicken for taco bowls. The flavor is the best compared to other brands!

I have been using this packet of seasoning. Mix for decades! I have always very much liked it. Got one a few weeks ago and the color was different; it was almost white in color. Made it with ground beef, which is not my norm and it was in edible. It was gooey sticky, the meat was gray colored… Etc. Had to throw it out. Bought another one thinking that perhaps I had gotten some bad ground beef. I made it my usual way with ground turkey and it was awful! Odd flavor and thick and gooey. Completely different color, flavor, and texture , from what it used to be. Please change it back. !!

Everyone gets excited for taco night in our house and Old El Paso is to thank for these bringing together moments we enjoy.

I wish that they did offer it in a spicier version though, as I myself am a fan of spicy foods, hence the 4 stars. Great product and definitely a brand you can count on.

I have purchased this seasoning forever. It’s a family favorite. The most recent batch I made in March 2025 was really off, however. I don’t know if they changed the recipe or if they put the wrong seasoning in the 2 packets I had…? Or was there an issue with the seasoning? But the seasoning is usually orangey in color and it was a white/grey color. Also it didn’t taste right. Now I’m hesitant to purchase again because I don’t want to waste all that expensive meat. Or risk getting my family sick in case there’s an issue of some sort.

I usually don’t make enough Mexican dishes to go through all my spices quickly enough before they become stale and not fresh. This mix makes it easy and convenient for tacos, enchiladas, stuffed peppers, etc.
