The product came all neatly wrapped in a box with everything that I would need included. The only thing I needed to provide is a viewing monitor or TV. The company even provides a free app to go with the cameras that has come in handy for easy viewing. There are no contracts or monthly payments with this security system. That is a big plus in my mind. I get to do all of the monitoring myself. My system included four cameras which is perfect for us as we put two in the front of our house and two in the back. We live in a rural part of our state and having extra security we felt was a great need. The ease of setup for this system wasn't too bad. It did take some time to get everything installed and in place but it is worth every penny. I was very happy to see that Defender includes everything you need to make the cameras work including a mouse and HDMI cords. You don't need to spend any extra money on this product after you get it home. It's as easy as taking it out of the box and installing it and protecting your home. I feel much safer in my home with these cameras and highly recommend this company.

I had a defender before but it died, I looked at the other products but didn't like the reviews so I decided to buy the 4K defender, It does work with my old cameras, I will install the 4k cameras once the snow is gone. Only issue I have to getting the camera's to display on my PC, will call support for assistance.

I needed to update my security cameras from an old defender system. It was about 6 years old and still worked fine. I wanted better resolution. The picture on this system is excellent. Installation was easy. Software set up was not as simple as my old system but the app is good. Added my wife's phone and we are up and running. Night vision is great. Have had foxes and raccoons caught wandering through my yard. Neighbors had cars broken into and I was able to provide the police with stills and video of the person trying my car doors. Luckily we had ours locked.

Bought this about 6 weeks ago and I just installed it 3 days ago (reason for 4 stars). The quality seems to be good and easy to use,nice clear pictures. Wish it came with a user manual for faster, easier references. I think it is going to do a good job for what we needed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a valuable security system. It comes with 8 cameras. Cable for each camera is roughly 50 ft. in length. Since it is a wired system, even before it arrived, we expected that setting up will involve more work than a wireless system. But the instruction is very clear with color-coded cables; the most important thing is that you need to decide where you want to put the DVR and how you are going to run the cables. I see that a lot of people running cables from attic, but we are lucky that we have a deck with unfinished roof, so we ran the cables under the roof and in the near future, we will finish the roof and nobody will see our cables. It took us 2 afternoons after work (about 2 hours each day) to get 5 cameras running. The quality of the pictures is unreal. I am super satisfied with this aspect. You can also download free app and get notifications on your cell phone. There are many options with this system; you can record continuously or just record when there is motion. You can have different combination of camera display at a time on the screen. So many different options to explore and take advantage of. Night visions are clear in black and white. It is so amazing how technology is so improved and shown in this system. The only thing I wish was different was that I wish cables come in different length. A couple of my cameras need only about 30 ft length, while if there were a couple cables that came in a length of 70 or 80 ft, that would be so much more convenient, especially for a set of this size. We are still installing the rest of the cameras and are looking to see if we can purchase longer cables for these, because they are going to have to go around the house to the garages in the back. Overall, this is the best security system you can have. Setting up takes some work, but it is expected with a wired system. And in compensation, you get an outstanding quality of records and pictures. I highly recommend this system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a vacation home and am looking forward to "keeping an eye" on it when we are not there. Aside from the complexity of installing/hiding wiring in attics and walls, the Defender 4K was very easy to install. The power connections, wiring and connections are very well made, well marked and a breeze to connect. My only issue was the DVR power supply out of the box would not power up. A new power supply and DVR is being shipped out, and once it is installed, I'll update the review. Looking forward to having the peace of mind Defender 4K will bring.

Bought this in Dec 2019 and finally got it installed. Once all the wires were ran in the attic and down the wall the rest was very easy to set up. I think the pictures the cameras catch are pretty darn good. I'm still going through the learning process on how to use all the features and use them properly but I would buy this again and I would recommend it to anyone else.

Bought the 4K1T4B4 system refurbished and it seems to be working fine, though I've only installed it today. Nothing special. The DVR settings/menu control is a little slow and unresponsive. Manuals aren't as readily accessible. It runs relatively quiet compared to my old Defender DVR. I haven't opened the DVR up to check what hard drive is used, so I hope it doesn't fail prematurely. The cameras are made of plastic which makes me wonder their actual resistance to the elements despite the IP67 and -40°C ratings. Night performance is not as good as some of the more expensive products in the market but if there's sufficient ambient light, it's good enough for my need. I only wish the angle of view is a little larger, at least 90° instead of 79°. The BNC cables for the cameras aren't heavy duty enough to be used exposed outdoor, better get some heavier gauge cables if you plan of running the cables outdoor exposed. The HDMI and Ethernet cables are a nice touch. The mouse is nothing special and will likely break with heavy usage. My other major concern in addition to the quality of the weather-sealing on the cameras and the hard drive is the power supplies. I've had to get replacement power supplies for my old Defender security system a few years into service. Only time will tell how this system will stand. All in all, for the price, it's good thus far, 4 hours post-installation.

Unfortunately there of been a lot of break-ins in our neighborhood and that’s why we needed one. The defender comes with four cameras which is perfect for our house. The cameras are small enough to not be that noticeable. And are the perfect color to blend in with our house. Using the app we are able to access all of the cameras and keep an eye on our house when we are not home. I would highly recommend the defender Home security system to anyone that is looking for one.

This is my third system from Defender. I have always been happy with their products. Picture quality is much improved with this 4K system. Set up was a breeze and only took a few minutes to link to my phone. I wish I could remote view from a PC like the older systems. I have not been able to find a way to make that happen, but it does view easily on my phone. There are just times it would be nice to see on a larger screen when I am away from home.
