iGen4500 new addition

I tried to start it for the first time and I was not able to turn it on quickly. I decided to manual hand crank it and it turn on immediately. After 1 run, I was able to turn on using the remote control and the easy push button. It is very easy to set and start. It runs very silently in comparison to others inverters and generators. I will still testing it but for now it is Highly recommended.

As expected

I've only had my unit a few days and generally I'm happy with it. It's quiet, starts easily and does the things it's supposed to do. It's a good looking unit and reasonably well built (see below). However, if you buy one there are a few things you should know. First, if you read online reviews you'll discover a lot of complaints about the automatic choke not working. Westinghouse blames this on delivery drives just kicking the units off the tailgate when they deliver, which is true. That abuse can and usually does cause the automatic choke cable to become disconnected from the control board. It can also cause the starter cable to become disconnected from the control board. Westinghouse could have easily accounted for this problem by spending 5 cents more on longer cables to allow more movement but they chose not to. They've published an inaccurate service bulletin describing how to fix it. Be aware that while Westinghouse may not be aware of all the fasteners they use to attach the housing, but you need to be. The attached marked up service bulletin shows where to look for the additional fasteners that Westinghouse doesn't tell you about. If you don't find them you'll either not be able to complete the repair or will break something in trying. Just look under all the rubber grommets surrounding the engine access panel and you should be able to find them all. Proceed carefully until you don't feel resistance pulling the panel off. Second, and a minor complaint is the engine oil they supply. The initial oil fill instructions clearly state that you should pour the entire contents of the supplied bottle of oil into the engine using the very handy funnel they provide. Unfortunately, the bottle contains far more than the crankcase will hold. Since you don't learn this until you see the oil backing up into the funnel neck, you have a mess on your hands. You must let the oil seep back out of the oil fill port until it gets down to the proper level. So beware if you hate spilling oil in your garage as much as I do. This is another easily avoidable problem, but we always follow the instructions, don't we? Other than those two annoyances I'm pleased with the unit so far and would recommend it to friends.

Worked great right out of the box

Purchased this for upcoming winter preparation. Initial testing went great on both gasoline and propane fuel. Was able to start via the push-button, pull-handle, and remote all as expected. Quiet (for a generator) operation, couldn't even hear it inside certain rooms of the house. Power output was smooth and as expected.

Made to be used!

I like it. Solid build, started right away even on almost empty LP tank - gotta love that autostart feature! Handled all my power hungry test devices without problem. It's a quiet and good looking machine. I also like the manual! This is something you don't see these days anymore - it has everything! Detailed maintenance procedures, descriptions, exploded view and even electrical schematic! If you are stuck without power and internet this manual may actually save your day! They even included oil and tools needed for maintenance. Main feature for me is that it's a solid 30amp inverter which works on LP and gas. I'll use it mostly with LP, but having gas as an option is must have in my opinion.

Very nice unit

Just recieved this a few ago. Put oil in, hooked up propane, and it started right up. I will have a chance to use it this weekend. Runs very quiet. Seems to be heavier than advertised. It is a heavey 105lbs. Rolling it around is easy, but you will need 2 people to load/unload unit if using it for travel.

Great features

I bought this prior to a cross country trip in our travel trailer, “just in case.” I ended up needing it twice while on the trip. The unit was quiet and easy to run. The remote start was also great so I didn’t have to get up in the middle of the night to get it going!

Excellent Product packed with features

Researched many inverter generators. For this class of generators it has every feature you would need. Runs very quiet. Dual fuel feature is so convenient. Remote start great convenience. Generators are relatively heavy. Wheels and handle make this so easy to move around. You can not go wrong with this generator.

Easy to understand and operate

After hurricane Helene damage we were without electricity for about 15 days. Lost all food in 2 refrigerators and a chest freezer. Bought this generator and it was so easy to set up and use with propane. Now I have insurance for the next power outage.

compact and well made

A little hard to work inside of compartment. Battery came loose and strap broke while trying to install it. Oil overflowed on first fill-up, even though volume of bottle of oil provided (nice) matched labelled capacity of generator. Suggest putting battery hook-up and oil fill info in "quick start" guide. Otherwise, really appreciate all the features and look forward to many hours of good service from this generator.
