Love the Dual Fuel and Remote Start

I've only owned this generator for 2 months, so far so good. I really like the dual fuel feature. Makes it a great addition to the travel trailer, not having to carry gas cans. The remote start is also a very nice feature. Looking forward to see how it holds up down the road.

This is the best of the best

To keep this short, I use this to power my travel travel AC and microwave being the biggest items. With the amazing remote start, from anywhere around your campsite, you start, run on propane, and use both micro and AC at the same time, which still gave 25% more power available. Love it runs on propane, and also has the remote start. Started first run, and has been flawless. Three trips to the wild so far.

As expected

I've only had my unit a few days and generally I'm happy with it. It's quiet, starts easily and does the things it's supposed to do. It's a good looking unit and reasonably well built (see below). However, if you buy one there are a few things you should know. First, if you read online reviews you'll discover a lot of complaints about the automatic choke not working. Westinghouse blames this on delivery drives just kicking the units off the tailgate when they deliver, which is true. That abuse can and usually does cause the automatic choke cable to become disconnected from the control board. It can also cause the starter cable to become disconnected from the control board. Westinghouse could have easily accounted for this problem by spending 5 cents more on longer cables to allow more movement but they chose not to. They've published an inaccurate service bulletin describing how to fix it. Be aware that while Westinghouse may not be aware of all the fasteners they use to attach the housing, but you need to be. The attached marked up service bulletin shows where to look for the additional fasteners that Westinghouse doesn't tell you about. If you don't find them you'll either not be able to complete the repair or will break something in trying. Just look under all the rubber grommets surrounding the engine access panel and you should be able to find them all. Proceed carefully until you don't feel resistance pulling the panel off. Second, and a minor complaint is the engine oil they supply. The initial oil fill instructions clearly state that you should pour the entire contents of the supplied bottle of oil into the engine using the very handy funnel they provide. Unfortunately, the bottle contains far more than the crankcase will hold. Since you don't learn this until you see the oil backing up into the funnel neck, you have a mess on your hands. You must let the oil seep back out of the oil fill port until it gets down to the proper level. So beware if you hate spilling oil in your garage as much as I do. This is another easily avoidable problem, but we always follow the instructions, don't we? Other than those two annoyances I'm pleased with the unit so far and would recommend it to friends.

PERFECT GENERATOR FOR STORM POWER BACKUP.

This generator fits our needs perfectly! Sips fuel, runs on propane which has a 30 year shelf life. Will power our Frig, TV, and 15000 BTU ac on wheels. If you are looking for a storm outage backup, that is stacked with features and doesn't break the bank, THIS IS IT!!!!

Great Directions

I bought the iGen 4500DF a few weeks ago and just got around to set up and testing. Hurricane season starts next month. The directions were very easy to follow and start up was a breeze. I never had a generator before and was a little skeptical, but the simple and easy to follow instructions made it a snap. I'm almost looking forward to a power outage knowing it will be easy to set up and go.

Beyond pleased!

I have been waiting for these to come back in stock, and I am so pleased to now have this dual fuel generator. I always have propane tanks on hand, but hate storing gasoline, so this is perfect for our uses. Much quieter than open frame generators, and the remote start is a useful addition. The low THD allows this to power our smart fridge and sensitive electronics, something the open frame generators cannot do. I am very pleased Westinghouse, thank you!

Really Like It

It's adding up to everything promised. I was also surprised by how easily it can be move around with the extension handle, something my wife definitely needs. That said, the manual could use some more detail. E.G. It refers to the choke, but doesn't show where it is. The same for the fuel valve.

Gen for our new trailer

Very happy with the product. Quiet and easy to operate. Telescoping handle makes it nice to move around. Large capacity tank, digital readout, remote start, multiple power output options to power items, and the wattage rating to handle our AC unit on the trailer were our focus and choice of the iGen4500DF over others.

Good Features

I bought this to take with for the camper. I just got it so I haven't really used it but I am looking forward to it and I'm sure it'll be just fine. I bought it because of its dual-fuel features as well as the inverter of the generator. However the only way I am able to get it started is by using the manual pull rope. The electric push button start as well as the remote start do not seem to work. I guess I will find out how good Westinghouse customer service is.

Great for RV power

I haven't had this long enough for a long time review but in the short time I have used this IGEN 4500 dual fuel I am very pleased with the features it has. I plan on using this with propane exclusively, but like that I can also use it with gasoline. The remote start and shut off is a great feature. This is a quiet generator that kicks up and down smoothly for power demand. Output scale on the front panel is a great feature also. This also works my 3500 BTU A/C unit, fridge if you don't have a propane option, and your hair dryer and curling irons. ( important stuff when dry camping)
