Ease of use

I bought this product about 2 months ago, and when the largest winter storm in recent Midwest history started to head our way I was confident my family would be warm. With the dual fuel feature I had multiple options to run. Setup out of the box was quick and easy. The electric start is a super convince and the battery charger is great ensuring I have no problems.

Features are nice, well thought out. Gen runs

Propane regulator was dead on arrival. Hopefully they get this resolved quickly and I'll update the review. Battery was also DOA and appears to not be holding a charge. I ran it on gas to test it, Didn't want to put any gas in it since I'm planning to run it on propane. Now I have to drain and clean it so nothing gums up. It's very quiet, quieter and lighter than the pred 3500 I had. Very nice that it came with an oil funnel that threads in. It has an onboard charger for the battery. I'm not sure how well that works. After an hour it just clicks the solonoid but if my bat is dead then that's the problem. Could have been a 5/5. Hopefully they solve issues faster than other reviews said....

Great Features LOVE ❤️ the remote start...

This Westinghouse iGen4000DFc dual fuel generator offers so much flexibility during a power outage. Running a generator can really make a difference in a difficult situation. Having backup power brings real peace of mind, especially during Southern California Power Outages. It's a great investment for any homeowner.

Nice compact unit with easy to operate controls.

After researching portable inverter/generator models on a few independent consumer sites, and based on their ratings, we made the decision to purchase the iGen4500DF generator in November of 2024. We wanted something compact to use for temporary backup of essential appliances in the event of a power outage. We also intend to use it to power an RV at un-serviced campsites. The unit started and ran flawlessly from initial start-up, and through the break-in period, cycling from gasoline to propane, and back to gasoline several times over the recommended 5-hour initial break-in run. Electrical appliances were cycled during break-in varying generator output from 25% - 50%. At the end of the break-in cycle an additional appliance was added increasing power output to 90%. In all cases the generator governed the engine rpm smoothly throughout the electrical load variations. The unit is well designed with robust body panels, and the control panel is nicely laid out and easy to understand. The handles to lift the generator are well designed allowing the unit to be lifted while wearing thick gloves. The retractable handle for moving the unit on its wheels is also a nice feature (easier on the back). I was able to stop and start the unit with the remote from 60 ft with no issue. I didn't try any further than 100 ft, but I don't have any reason to believe that it wouldn't work further away that that. The unit is nice and quiet, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable compact inverter/generator with good power output.

Seems like a great Generator

I just set mine up and ran it for about an hour. Ran a refrigerator, charged a phone and a backup battery. Went back and forth between standard and eco mode. Seems to throttle correctly. After running, I wanted to try draining the carburetor bowl, which went smoothly once I identified the screw. The setup instructions left a lot to be desired about how to do this and I resorted to online material. Once I found the screw it was a snap. The other thing that tripped me up was the connection of the battery connectors inside. There is a little add-on tag on the unit that identifies you need to do it, but no further explanation. After numerous tries of pulling the manual start cord, I figured it had to be something like the battery as the light wasn't lit on the switch when you turn it on. I once I connected the battery cables inside, it fired right up! I also love how quiet this unit is. I tested the decibels at about 23 feet and it was only 56db on regular mode(not eco mode). Right next to it and it was only 64db! I look forward to using it during the next power outage!

Quiet Generator with Plenty of Power

So pleased with this generator. After the hurricanes last year I promised myself I would be prepared for whatever comes next time. This fits the bill. It's very quiet which is appreciated, and affordable. I like the dual fuel option, although my intention is to only use propane because it's much easier to store. The build quality is excellent, it isn't too heavy but the telescopic handle and wheels are a definite plus. I'm ready for whatever.

Right size. Right power.

I had mounted a 3400 watt unit on the back hitch rack of my 30 amp 5th wheel and it struggled to keep up. This is the perfect size to replace it. Gives me all the watts I need and then some. Forget the “quick getting started sheet”, it shows the dip stick on the wrong side and you'll take the engine access cover when you don't have to.

Great fit and finish, quiet and powerful

I bought this for our 35' Montana and I couldn't ask for more. Dual fuel runs off propane so I don't have to have something with gas in my front storage compartment. Starts right up and carries the load of the entire coach with one a/c running (residential fridge). I would buy this again. Outstanding!

Very powerful, very quiet

I have owned the igen 5000 DFC for about 2 weeks now. I have run it for about 3 to 4 hours under various light loads. It says to run for about 5 hours under 50% load so I do not know how much load it will handle but it seems to be doing well. I plan on only running this generator on propane. It started the very first time I hooked up the propane. I have started it with the remote start, the pool start, and the push button start. All worked flawlessly. This is the second Westinghouse generator that I have owned. Hopefully this one works as well as the last. It is a little large and a little heavy but it will power everything in my fifth wheel without a problem. Including the air conditioner. I would highly recommend this product.

Delivered on expectations

Took the generator to operate high current appliances in 4,000 feet and high external temperatures. Used propane only so far and the generator worked well despite the altitude and harsh conditions. Starting w the recoil was easy, although I found that after a few pulls it's better to close the choke to get it started. Reasonably quiet and the standard propane tank lasted a few hours of operation. This is the most powerful dual fuel generator I found in this weight class (next size up is about double at more than 100lbs) and it's a sweet spot tradeoff. Wish the high altitude kit was available. I'm unable to find it.
