Westinghouse iGen 5000DF - Awesome unit

I bought this unit on 6/13/2024 and tested on Propane and Gas the unit started right away with remote start. The noise is about 85 dB which very low with Portable AC and Full Fridge loads. 100% Recommended. When will they come out with a Hybrid unit Solar charge and Gas?

Easy to Use Generator

This is a easy to use Generator. It started easily. It was easy to set up. I am glad it has dual gas and propane energy sources. The directions are easy to follow for the set up. The wheels on the unit help with mobility. I am glad we purchased this item for piece of mind when the power goes out.

Outstand set of features with lots of power.

I have owned several generators and had a good idea what I wanted for my girlfriend. It had to be powerful enough to drive a transfer switch yet light enough for a woman to move on her own. Pulling a cord to start isn't a big deal but for some reason women don't like it, so an electric start was important. In addition it had to have a fuel guage. My last generator didn't have one and it was a guess when the fuel would run out, which it always does in an emergency. The last thing to worry about when the power grid goes down. The WGen5300DF fits the bill nicely and is very well priced for the wattage and feature set. The remote is a nice touch though its one frill I find unnecessary.

Great Vesatility for the price

I bought this to back up our 1500 squarefoot home in conjuction with a mechanical interlock. I love being able to use propane which can be stored much longer and more conveniently than gasoline. I use propane already for our BBQ so now I will just have a couple more containers.....just in case. Great product, hopefully it will stand the test of time.

Disappointing start, but hopeful for better

Despite some initial hiccups upon starting the machine, it ran well (using liquid propane) for the first 3 hours during the break-in period. But after that she wouldn't start up at all, emitting a scary backfire each time, and leaving me with a 130-pound brick. Support was initially challenging to obtain-- the first tier of help are easily the friendliest people on the entire planet, but they are the first to admit that they aren't even qualified to help you tie your shoelaces. However, getting a response from a tech was neigh-impossible ("You said you'd call, but you never call..."). Eventually, Westinghouse did ship me new high and low pressure regulators to try, but that did not solve the problem. After that, it took me about a week to learn that the only surefire way to chat with a tech was through email, and things went faster (as fast as email can be, I guess) from there. Support helped arrange for an authorized servicer to diagnose the issue (fortunately one was located about 20 minutes away), and fix it they did. Since then I have only run it another hour, even adding a small load, and so far, so good. The electronic start now works flawlessly, and the pull-start was refreshingly smooth. I have not yet had a need to try larger loads for longer periods of time, but with the machine starting and purring as it should since the repair, I am more confident that I hopefully made a smart purchase (and would even add a star). By the way, I have only run the machine on propane so far. I have no intention of using gasoline for as long as I can avoid it.

Great features and value

I bought this electric start, dual fuel generator just after hurricane Ian went through Florida and we had a hard time starting our exiting generator which is manual start. Since we are getting up in age (80s), my wife and I decided on an electric start replacement. The dual fuel feature gives us additional flexibility during storm conditions when gasoline supplies can be difficult. The only difficulty we've had was with the remote fob not functioning, that was quickly resolve by way of a Service Bulletin instructing me on how to "pair" the fob to the generator.

Just Right

Bought this a couple of days ago. Had the same damage many others have reported to the end cases. Box looked good, just needs better protection in there. I just removed the both of them and pounded out the dents, not very noticeable now. As for operation, put the oil in it, connected the Propane tank and pushed the remote button on the key fob and presto, she fired right up. Lot's quieter than the previous Generator from another make we had and significantly better fuel economy. Expecting this to be the bees knees for this fire season. We're ready!

Good machine, instructions incomplete

I began set-up today with professional assistance, an electrician was initiating all procedures in the manual. Unfortunately, there was an updated manual that we didn't have. The setup process caused a small part to malfunction making the generator inoperable. Hoping that the small part will make a difference and it will eventually function.
