Works Great

We were out of power for 3 days with Hurricane Milton. This generator ran our refrigerator, portable ac, skillet and air fryer. The plus is when we couldn’t find gas we were able to use propane. It ran for 14- 15 hours on one tank full of gas. I was so glad we purchased this!

Best Model for Home Backup & Emergencies

After the Oklahoma "Icenado" of Oct 2020 when we were w/o power for 4 days I determined to NEVER to BE a VICTIM & caught w/ my pants down. Thru heavy research I found the 5300DF (dual fuel) model the best match for our needs for a modest home w/ 5 people. It would be best for a large RV too. Westinghouse has the best ratio of Price Point, Power Output, best warranty, 1000s of 4+ star reviews & FREE delivery. Ordered it 1/12/21 & it was delivered 1/18/21. The setup is very easy. The nearest town is a 30min drive, so we're "out here". The Propane fuel option is really what sold me b/c it NEVER goes bad & you can hook the Generator to your home Propane tank by teeing off. I saw lots of people filling 5gal gas tanks to run generators at local stations. That ONLY works when the pumps have power. The Propane option is a no-brainer & is easier on my wife & daughters, esp. if you're using small 2gal tanks or a 100gal. The other PLUS is the REMOTE START FOB. You can turn it on from inside the safety of your home. It also has the push button start. I'm going to either install a transfer switch or install a breaker box interlock kit to run the generator directly into our house for emergency backup. We had neighbors w/o power & water for 10+ days in Oct. Family & friends in Texas were worse off during the Feb 2021 snow storm. The FACT that MOST of Texas was w/o power & H20 for 4-10 days is everyone's WAKE UP call that you're On your own. OYO. For my "off-grid" solar friends who were w/o power b/c of cloud cover & snow, the 5300DF will provide a better layer of confidence. You must be prepared cause we're in the Twilight Zone from now on. 2020 & 2021 was a trial-run.

Great Features

I recently brought this unit as a emergency backup for our house when we have power outages. One of the best features on this unit is the dual fuel system. I filled up my gas cans and propane tanks, I didn't worry about not having enough fuel or running out. Very easy to operate and the remote start makes it so easy to start that my wife ran it while I was gone, no need to pull start.

Excellent machine!

Very impressed with the ability to keep up with consistent power. I’ve run a few power tools and it kept them working steady. I love the push button and remote start. A feature you would find on the much more expensive models. My only disappointment is the oil fill and drain design. It’s a little cumbersome for us older folks. Other than that, I’m very pleased with this generator. I’m glad I bought it.

Perfect backup

Owned 2 weeks, Easy to put together. Nema14-30 connector made it easy to connect. Fired up on first try with propane. A bit "husky sounding" but that to be expected at this power output. Dual fuel allows long term backup fuel storage with gas a convenient option during prolonged power outages.

I was looking for a home backup generator and the wgen5300dfc had the options i was looking for, floating neutral, dual fuel, remote start and electric start. i ordered the wheel kit separately and now i am able to plug directly into my house transfer switch. i ran it to put break in hours on it and am now ready if i get more power outages .

Beautiful

The wife and I bought a home last year in Oklahoma, which is known for a lot of stormy weather in Fall and Spring. Power outages are fairly common here during these times of the year, so we figured that we'd need a generator for those times. The Westinghouse we got was a lovely blue (wife's words :-) with a control panel logically set-up. After putting the initial motor oil in it, the machine started right away using all 3 methods (pull-start, push button, and key fob.) Broke it in using just gasoline as fuel, and it ran beautifully. Haven't bought a propane tank for it yet, but that's on my next home center list.

Great Generator

Since I live in the 3rd world state of California, having a reliable and dual fuel generator is a must. I love that this has a remote start, so I can power on and off without having to be out in the elements. You will have to purchase the wheel kit separately though, so be aware of that.

My first duel fuel generator

I bought this on a quick decision, I live in North Carolina and we had just been hit with Hurricane Helene. No water, no power, didn't know when we would be getting it back either. A friend bought a couple of them and brought them up, so I bought it! I used it for a week, I only ran gas, haven't had the opportunity to try the propane gas yet.It was easy to start and the directions were all pretty straight forward and it ran well for the most part. Two things happened, first the oil stick does not seat right when you close it all the time, and one time oil sprayed out everywhere. I have to be very careful and check the seating of it. second is the feet vibrate right off of it! I keep having to tighten the screws but then they came loose a day and half later. Also the screws have to go from the Botton which is really hard to do, so it's kinda frustrating. Other then that its been fine. Of course its brand new and Ive used it for less then a week, so its kinda hard to tell how will be a year from now. That seems like a better time to review?

Much Needed Source of Power

I think this generator has good features for the price! I am glad I chose a generator with duel fuel options. Last winter storm led to gas shortages, so having the option to use propane helps cover the bases. I was also draw to the feature of having a transfer switch will let you power things on your circuit breaker panel. Just wish this model came with push start as well.
