Best generator at the price and above

Rating: ★★★★★ I recently purchased the Westinghouse WGen5300DFc generator, and I couldn’t be happier! This dual-fuel generator is incredibly versatile, allowing me to run it on either gasoline or propane, which is great for flexibility during power outages or while camping. The remote start is a game-changer, letting me start it up effortlessly from inside my RV without having to go outside. It delivers a solid 5300 running watts (6600 peak), providing enough power for all my essential appliances and tools without any hiccups. What really stands out is its durability and thoughtful design. The unit comes with a CO sensor for added safety, multiple outlet types to accommodate different power needs, and an extended run time of up to 14.5 hours on a single tank of gas. It’s slightly heavier than some other models, but the sturdy wheel kit and folding handle make it easy to move around. Additionally, Westinghouse’s reputation for quality and the 3-year warranty offer peace of mind for long-term reliability. Whether you’re using it for home backup or for an RV trip, this generator handles it all! Highly recommend it to anyone in need of a dependable and powerful portable generator .

Easy to hook up and quiet

Bought this generator after getting through Hurricane Helene and having hurricane Milton right on her heels. This came in record time. It was easy to set up for this 72 year old senior and easy to start. This generator comes with a pull cord, remote start at the generator or a fob to start remotely. Very pleased that this runs on either propane or gas as it’s easier for me to hook up a propane tank than to lug gas and pour it in. I highly recommend this generator

Great performer

I bought the unit the day after Zeta rolled over New Orleans. The unit powered all my fridges(2) plus a microwave as needed. I loaned it to my brother who has expensive medications that have to stay refrigerated. It's easy to move starts right up all in all a great investment

Westinghouse WGen5300DF

I received my WGen5300DF generator on Thursday and fired it up on Saturdays and it runs rough and very erratic; out of the box. After getting online reading other reviews I saw others complaining about the same thing and having problems getting satisfactory results looks like I'm headed down the same road. I am registering my warranty to start the process.

Easy start

Just bought this generator for a emergency backup. Tested out just as expected. Hooked up a transfer switch to run my well in addition to two house circuits. I hooked up to propane tank. Started right up. Tested it on some 110volt items to start. Then plugged it into the transfer switch. Switched to 240v. Ran perfectly, ran my deep water 1hp well pump, and two refrigerator’s, deep freezer and several 60 watt lights with ease. Only complaint, didn’t come with a wheel kit. Tried to order one and was told not available. So I had to buy a universal generator wheel kit, which still had to be modified to fit. Other than that couldn’t be happier.

Hold Strong

purchased the Westinghouse wgen5300s generator a couple of weeks ago and at first the Gas was not working, but the Propane worked with out a hitch. I opened a ticket up with Westinghouse and they got back to me quickly and tried a few troubleshooting tasks. Did not work and was due to shipping damage. Like I said the propane option works great and powers through when a high load gets placed on it.

Highly impressed with quality!

Went with a proven company that has been around since 1800's. Loved the features their product offered compared to others. Unboxing I was impressed to find they provided the necessary oil and even a funnel plus a tool pouch with spark plug wrench. Looking over the fit and finish and the quality of components the build showed quality engineering design. Looking forward to many years of good service. My next one will definitely be one of their bigger units.

Perfect size generator, not too heavy

I unboxed today and it was easy to set up. It fired up almost right away running off propane, I haven’t tried gasoline yet. The remote control was easy to program and worked well. My only complaint is it’s louder than I expected. Also, I didn’t realize the generator requires a high altitude kit to get its full potential. It loses about 3.5% power rating for every 1000 feet above sea level. Being a mile high, that’s a big loss! I realize you get what you pay for, so for the money I’m pleased.

This is a great value for this generator.

It really works well for us. I love the remote start that is a must. It is not super quiet but also not obnoxiously loud either. Easily can put up with the noise. I bought two of them so I could run them in parallel to 50 amp service. That did the trick when we needed it in our 5th wheel.

Everything worked as planned

I bought this generator for back-up emergencies after upgrading my home’s circuit box to include a generator cut-off switch. After setting it up (easy!) and breaking it in with a couple test runs, we had a major winter power outage where it got its first true test. Everything worked as planned; I was able to turn on my furnace, fridge, lights, and basically anything else I needed. Can’t ask for anything more - EXCEPT, it appears to be the only Westinghouse model in its price range to not come with wheels. I had to buy the separate wheel package - and I’m glad I did. C’mon, guys - attach the wheels!!
