While the RR-600W is called "Rapid Receipt" (and it does well with receipts), it really is a full-function document scanner that will satisfy the needs someone who requires desktop scanning for a multitude of document/receipt/statement/etc. sizes. It scans quickly and can handle multiple page sizes in one stack. What I like most about the Epson RR-600W is the touchscreen, and the ability to scan things even without having my computer on. I can scan items to a USB memory stick, send a document via e-mail, send it to a network folder, or to the cloud -- no computer needed! You can also set up Presets (favorites) to quickly carryout functions you use the most. Of course, you can also use the Epson RR-600W with the manufacturer-provided software with your computer to easily scan and save documents quickly. I have the scanner connected to my wi-fi network and also to my computer via USB. The unit uses wi-fi so you can do things without your computer on, like send scans via e-mail or the cloud. Because the RR-600W has a large touchscreen the size of a smartphone, you can program everything on the screen, but also program many of the same features using the computer software. The touchscreen is intuitive enough that you can swipe like you can on a smartphone and easily navigate the screens. The included software lets you scan to PDF, graphic formats, etc., etc. It scans both sides of the document (but you can turn that off). I also like that you can save as an archival PDF/A, and can add passwords to PDFs. You can also set the PDF so it's searchable. I like to digitize my life, and I was looking for a quick and efficient way to digitize my receipts. I already own a flatbed scanner and that was taking way too long. Then I came across the Epson RapidReceipt RR-600W printer. The device is very compact and is made up of three parts. The printer itself along with upper and lower tray components. Once assembled Epson directs you to download their Navi software, which helps you setup your printer quickly and efficiently. Once things are setup, you can use Epson’s ScanSmart software or the ample touchscreen display on the printer to navigate and organize your documents. You can scan single sided or double sided (duplex), and the RR-600W is very quick. The software includes an invoice/receipt manager that lets you store and organize your important invoices, with a link to QuickBooks if you want to take it one step further. The RR-600W also offers storing files on network FTP folders, USB devices or your favorite cloud services like OneDrive or Google Drive. You can even directly email documents you’ve scanned directly from your printer. One of the biggest drawbacks of this product was the software itself. While I was able to quickly set it up the first time on my personal laptop, Epson’s Navi suite didn’t detect the printer on my desktop computer. I had to directly connect the printer through USB in order for it to be detected. First time users would also likely have to adjust the scanning speed when they are dealing with stapled documents or double feeds. Overall I would still recommend this product for small businesses or folks you like to better organize their digital lives. I have a busy bookkeeping business. We scan hundreds to thousands of documents a day for our clients. The desktop scanners we used previously are fast but they require you to scan in one receipt at a time and then they must be connected with a cable to your computer. I initially bought 3 of these RR600W Rapid Receipt printers for testing, with the plan to buy more if they proved their worth. One of them failed right out of the box. It never connected to the WiFi despite very many attempts. The was returned. We retain the other 2 however I would caution anyone in a production environment against considering them. Even with technical employees you are going to waste time supporting them. And they jam often when feeding in more than 4 or 5 documents at a time. When they jam you have to clear error messages on both the scanner and the computer and then you have to refeed the jammed receipts. Often you get part way, or most of the way through a large scan job when the app screen simply goes white and you lose all you work. You have to restart the app to rescan everything again. The frustration and wasted time makes these a time waster in a production environment. For someone who just scans a few household receipts they are likely more reliable but the frustration of keeping them connected to your WiFi is not really worth the money.
