Easy to assemble, great sturdy quality, and started on the first try

I have been wanting and researching a potable generator for years. With this, the generac name continued to rise to the top in quality and performance. Then came an immediate need, and after looking at my options I decided to go with generac. Even though the decision called for a quick decision I was confident that I was making the best decision. I found what I was looking for at Lowe’s and actually upgraded from a 6500 to the 8000, the price was right and it came with an electric start. I brought it home and within 2 hrs had it making electricity! The ONLY down side of the whole situation was that they advertised that it with idle control and it turned out it didn’t. Please correct this. I give this product two thumbs up!

Works well, enough power for the whole house

Except for hurricane Sandy, over the last 30 + years we had never lost our power for more than a couple hours at a time. And even those weren’t frequent. Then this past summer we had a Nor’ Easter with 60-70 MPH winds that lasted for a full day. We lost our power and did not get it back for almost 8 days because of the extensive damage causing slow repairs. I did not want to go through that again especially in the winter when not having heat is a safety issue. Bought this generator because it had enough power to run the furnace or central air plus the the two refrigerators and freezer we have. Had an electrician do the wiring to do the whole and not run extension cords. Have used it once since I bought it when we lost our power during a snow storm with high winds. The electronic start worked great and we had power enough to run everything. for the six hours till power was restored. Found the generator easy to start and run. Is small enough to store pretty easily in my garage. On the minus side it would be nice if it was quieter. And this is knit picking but it’s not easy to register and the serial number is hard to find. Added gas stabilizer as there is a decent amount of gas left in the tank and I intend to run it once a month till the gas is used up. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and is well worth the price for the peace of mind and convenience for the infrequent times of power loss.

Home Backup

I just had the generator wired to my house and the electrician and I ran a test. It ran everything in the house. It won't run the heat pump or furnace, but that's o.k., it will keep us from going to a hotel and the contents of the refrigerator /freezer won't go bad.

GP series Generac

Great Looking Unit! The electric start is why I chose this unit. I installed the wheels, handle, put the oil in & connected the SUPPLIED BATTERY, put the gas in, hit the start button and it started right up. No more pulling the rope for this old guy! It does have a backup pull rope by the way. The unit even comes with charger to keep the battery charged also when not in use. Didn't see that with the other ones out there. This is a great generator and I'm glad I bought this one!

Great, easy to use unit! Powers plenty!!!

Like so many others, going 7 1/2 days without power during the freak October Nor'easter SUCKED! I bought the GP7500E for back up power. Great unit! Easy assemble out of the box....was up and running in 15-20 minutes. We will never be without power. What a relief knowing we won't have to go throught that again! I recently had a friend who's an electrican install a 10 circuit transfer switch. This unit has plenty of juice to power everything we hooked up and then some. Hopefully we won't have to use it too often but, if it goes dark again.....we're ready! Thanks Generac

Great product

My ancient but functional Coleman died 2 days into Florence last fall. I lucked out finding my 6500. I knew nothing of the brand, and paid what I thought was too much. When I hooked it up, however... BOOM, great product and a lit house and fans. Thanks!

User friendly

We purchased it on the morning of the day that Irene was to hit. Set up was easy. We lost power the next day for about 8 -9 hours. Easy start. Hooked it up to sump pump immediately. Eventually hooked up our fridge. Plenty of voltage left over if we wanted to hook up more. It is ready to go if we have power outages during this winter.

Good heavy weight product

I purchased this generator to replace one that i had for 20 years. So far i have used this one twice. Once for two hours and the second time for 13 hours. Easy to start and runs great. Just wish iy was a little quieter. But that is not a negative. If this one last as long as my last one i will not live to see its end. I had a Generac 7500 watt that lasted for 20 years and ran for 21 straight days and nights during an ice storm. It did not quit i killed it my not paying attention to what i was doing. I hope this one will last as long. I highly recommend Generacs.

Easy to operate and runs the whole house.

In order to run the entire house (4,000 square feet 5 bedrooms), I had a new panel installed in my house and bought the 1500E. Minimal assembly was required. Be aware this is a heavy generator, so you will need help unloading. Runs perfectly. The only issue was that it cut off unexpectedly during a test run and wouldn't do anything - turnover, etc. After referring to trouble shooting section, I checked the fuse - it was broken. Do your self a favor and buy some extra fuses... $2 can save you some headaches. Already have 80 hours on the unit after Hurricane Irene and this October 16" of snow we got in Jersey, so I am loving this generator. Two of my neighbors are buying the same unit after hanging out at my place.
