Well built machine

We bought our 76861 to replace our 20yr. old Coleman Powermate which still runs well. This machine will let us run more necessary things, like our well pump and furnace, and with the transfer switch, not have to dance over extension cords.I got 4 different wheels and tires for it, so now it is simple and easy to move over our yard, and in and out of the garage, looks like an open wheel modified from 1970.It started on the first pull after I put a couple of gallons of VP110 in the tank.It will only get 110 or VP SEF to eat, as you can leave it in the machine with no problems.I hooked it up to the house today, and it never seemed to notice the load.It is heavy, strong, and well made.It is well worth my money and I am very happy., with it and the 6853 transfer switch.

Worth Every Penny

I've owned my 7500E for just over 8 months now. As others have mentioned, from ordering to delivery was flawless, set up took very little time. Once I had the transfer switch installed, I ran through a test of all 10 circuits with the electrician and it barely created a load on it...even he was amazed. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and feel very confident recommending it to anyone considering this model.

Excellent Choice

I bought this equipment to be able to supply energy to my residence due to the passage of Hurricane Maria through Puerto Rico. Its fuel consumption was high but it did not fail me at any time. Easy to perform maintenance. I recommend it to anyone with closed eyes.

Perfect for backup power

A third storm power loss this year and my old generator simply gave up. I am very pleased with the purchase of the Generac. It has the power to run several circuits that my house is wired to be run by a backup generator. It powers my well pump, refrig, freezer, hot water tank, and several light circuits. Its economical to run and easy to start with the battery back pack. My only con, is the oil fill is a little tight to fit a quart bottle.

Very good product - easy to setup and use

I compared several different generators and chose a GP6500E - which I am very happy with! The intial setup took under 30 minutes, and it started right up. The durability and ease of use seem very good, and the electric start option was well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product.

Excellent product!

Ran generator for approx. 50 hrs. straight, except for re-fueling, during Hurricane Irene. It provided reliable power and saved us quite a bit of money by not having to replace food. Also provided comfort as it powered my central air conditioning with no trouble. Easy to set up and start. Acceptable noise level for size of unit. Does like gas!

Fired up on the first crank

Have been waiting for this model to go on sale for over a year. Finally found it at a local business for $150 less than the big box stores. Wanted a Generac as it has always been rated very good by Consumers Report. Haven't used it yet, but assembly instructions were very easy to follow. Started up on the first crank.

It does what it's supposed to

After 35 years at the same address and typically dealing with 1 or 2 mostly short outages per year, we experienced an 8 hour outage and a 5 hour outage within 2 months. My wife said we need a generator! We looked at whole house backup but that seemed like overkill and very expensive. After lots of online research we settled on a Generac in the 6500-8000 watt range. Because we have a well, we needed 230v output. The price difference between 6500 and 8000 was so small, we opted for the GP8000e. The installer put a lockout on our electrical panel so we can switch between generator power or electric service but the generator cannot backfeed the incoming electric. Yesterday we experienced a 5 hour outage. After 30 minutes, I rolled the generator out of the garage and onto my patio. It fired up with electric start even though I had not charged the battery since the initial startup 4 months ago. I hooked up the 30amp cable to the receptacle on the house, switched the lockout on the service entrance to generator power and we had power. In addition to the well pump, furnace fan, and fridge, we ran the microwave, an electric cooktop (not at the same time), and all the lights we wanted. My only complaint, though not unexpected, was the volume. It is loud! My phone sound meter app registered 90db at about 10' away. It was about 8' from our family room and even with the windows closed, it was too loud to watch TV comfortably so we retreated to the basement. It's also quite heavy but I had no real trouble wheeling it around the house from the garage to the patio. Overall, I'm very pleased with it and my wife was happy that we had water and a cold refrigerator during our 5 hour outage.

Everything you will need

I bought this in the fall of 2012 after Katrina ripped through the Northeast. Our area was ten days without power being restored. We suffered through three days without power before getting this. Our home water supply comes from a well. No power, no water. Or heat, or showers, or communications. This unit has enough power to run the well, satellite, refrigerators, freezers, lights, coffee pot, microwave, televisions, and the list goes on. I just pulled it outside and started it up again for the second time this year. It powered up on the second pull and was running strong. I never worry about losing power now. Get the biggest one you can afford, but the 6500 will get you through any power outage with minimal disruption to your life. No regrets on this purchase. Quality machine.

Was able to get an outstanding deal on a slightly used, 0.4 hrs., 15000e.

I wired the generator up to the house and tested it out. Ran everything including a 3.5 ton AC. Now ready for the inevitable South Florida Hurricanes. Unit started right up after I replaced a 4 year old battery that was completely dead. One of my best purchases.
