Great for me

Being a senior citizen,I needed less complicated products. This generator is exactly what I needed for me to maintain. Not as heavy as some and makes it easier for me to move it without help.Coming from an area with frequent storms causing power outages, this is just right for what I need..

This Generator is a Life Saver

I live in Louisiana I’m 38 year old dad of three kids that just lost my wife to cancer she was my "high school sweetheart”and loving mother of our kids and our area just recently got hit by Hurricane Laura. The storm took out a 100% of the towns power and knew it would take a long time to restore all the power and we all know how it is with no power so I drove to another town not hit by the hurricane and purchased what I would call a life saver and the best purchase Iv ever made the Generac RS5500 Iv heard nothing but good about this brand so I had to see if it held up to its reputation I got it home it was easy to put together very detailed instructions and steps for operating and maintenance it also came with a heavy duty 220v to 120v extension cord with a 4 way plug in to run your regular extension cords off of and I love they included that with the generator because that cord alone is very expensive to buy and very useful it also came with break in oil to get you started so straight out the box I was impressed but could it run and operate as good as it’s reputation was and I’m here to tell you it 100% did run and operate as good as it’s reputation. The first pull and it cranked right up I plugged in everything we needed and still had more power I could have used off of it. I ran this generator only stopping it for its break in oil change and oil changes and Maintence checks after that. This generator ran like this for two weeks until power was restored and I’m here to tell you as a dad with kids needing to keep them cool and have almost all the functions we would with power this generator did it all even my kids were impressed on how it could run that long and that good and they were happy to see there dad not having to struggle fixing something or seeing the frustration in me of something going wrong or breaking down so that In itself should show any future people looking for a reliable generator easy to operate worry free generator that this is the brand to buy don’t even hesitate on which brand to purchase I’m telling you Generac Generators is the only brand you need to buy unless you want to purchase another brand and have the thought of worrying if it will crank or break down so if you want a worry free piece of equipment that helps your family not only survive but survive comfortably and a brand you can count on then do what this dad did Buy a Generac Generator and your love ones will thank you because it’s not only a Generac it’s a Life Saver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worth the price

This generator is worth it's weight in gold. I live in New Jersey and I was hit hard by hurricane sandy. I was without power for ten days. I bought this generator and it powered my whole house and my neighbors house during the black out. I would highly recommend this product. The set up was easy and also the operation of this product. It also has a nice big gas tank for less fill ups and last up to 12 hours on one tank. All my neighbors want one.

A really fine product

Ordered my Generac GP17500E after researching on-line and talking with friends who have Generac generators. To my surprise, it was ready for delivery in 1 day. Uncrated and assembled it in about 2 hours (instructions were good but could be more user friendly) and was impressed with the quality of construction. The supplied oil, spare filter, spark plug, etc., were added value. Very pleased with this generator and have recommended Generac to family and friends.

Great unit!

We have had the 17500 for a few years now and it has been great for us. We live near a national forest so when power goes out it generally stays out for several hours to several days. We do the regular maintenance on her and have a trickle charge solar panel on the battery. It definitely burns through fuel, however, it runs EVERYTHING. Also is very heavy, so have so.e strong people around if you need to move it or place it strategically and then buy a sturdy after market cover to keep it out of the elements.

GP7500E

Just unpacked my new GP7500E. Easy setup to get running. Powered a few items just to test the generator. Will be easy enough for my wife to use before I can get home. Only disappointment was that there wasn't the extra cord included (twist lock to 3 plugs) but not a deal breaker.

Very dissapointed

Brought my new GP8000E generator home, unboxed it, assembled it, prepped it for the first run and then started it and watched as gas ran out of the air cleaner box. The only way I could get it to stop was to siphon the gas out of the tank. Apparently during the manufacturing of the unit someone mis-installed, mis-assembled or mis-welded the internal tank vent tube allowing gas to leak continuously from the tank. Serious safety hazard if I had not caught it. I went and talked to my local Generac reseller service center and was told they are 1 to 1.5 months backlogged but go ahead and drop it off, and of course he had never run across this issue before. Will I be buying another Generac product again…… NEVER. And for you wondering why I don’t give them a second chance…. this was their second chance. I had bought a smaller generator about 10 years ago for emergency use only. It only got started every 3 months and ran for an hour. I changed the oil and as it was draining out I saw aluminum particles coming out with the oil. So it only had a few hours on it but the engine had deteriorated internally and was past the warranty so it was junk.

a couple of suggestions

Putting the machine together in a cold garage was a real "thrill". None of your vendors offered this service. The cotter key for the wheels is a real challenge. There has to be a better, easier way to do this little task. Many naughty words were said. For accessories, why not casters for the front of the machine?? Something designed by you, designed to fit properly, would be a nice feature. Try lifting this thing to pull it out of a garage when you are 70, with a bad back. Everything works as it should, and the directions are easy to follow, and it started the first time.

Great unit

I live in an area that is rural and the power goes out a few times a year. A month ago we had a storm and lost power for about 24 hours. I had a little generator but it was only good for a couple lights and t.v.. Problem is I have a refrigerator, a freezer, and a well pump I need power to as well. Next week I went looking for a bigger more reliable generator and found it with my generac 6500. After I got it home I was actually hoping to have another storm knock the power out so I could see how it would do. Wasnt long and it happened! It was only about a week later another storm came through and knocked the power out for about 7 hours. Long enough to try out the new generac. Rolled it out easy enough even though it's pretty heavy, pulled once and it was running like a champ. Plugged in the necessities and it handled everything. It was so nice to have in that situation. This winter I plan on having a transfer switch so I can run everything from lights to heat. I'd recommend this generator if your looking for one.

Works just like is it supposed to.

Bought this almost a year ago, worked well, although I only had to use it the one time then. Power company trimmed all the trees over the lines last week, so I don't know if I will ever need it again. Glad to have the b/u though. I know it will work next time because it is a Generac
