Power no matter what

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I turned off the power in my home to test this generator out. Needless to say, I'm very impressed. It took quite a bit of gas to fill up, but it didn't burn through it at all. I let it run for an hour and I couldn't tell that any gas was used. I live in a three bedroom trailer. This generator let off enough power to keep my central air running and my refrigerator going as well. Assembly was extremely easy and laid out very well to understand. The portable feature is amazing as well. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied.

Perfect for outages

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my Generac generator! It puts out when we are in need. It can run my entire house, lights, stove, refrigerator, and window units. It looks great and it's handle makes it easy to pull.

It will definitely work for you.

I had this delivered to the house. The packaging was very good. No damage. I did all the assembly within a half hour. Filled it with oil and put some gas into the tank. I used the electric start and it started up with no problems. Temp outside was less than 5 F. I bought the electric start only for my wife so she could start it up if I wasn't home. The manual provides all information needed to star and maintain the unit.

Has yet to crank

Spent a lot of money on this generator and it won’t even crank. Not every generac dealer works on portable units, so took research, time and extra calls to find a dealer that would come out. The repair company has replaced the starter, the carburetor, magnetos, the list goes on yet it STILL WONT CRANK. This is extreme frustrating for the money spent.

RS8000E PowerDial Portable Generator

Purchased this Generac, after a series of power outages, at a major retailer. (I had gotten quotes for over $10k for a 20 KW standby whole house Generac Gaurdian Series with a 46 week lead & install time). Put it together and had it running in 35 minutes. Although it is bulky and heavy to move around, we have it stored in the garage until needed. Had a Electrician install a plug outside and tied it into our breaker box with an interlock. Our test seems to run everything that is needed in our 1,850 sq ft home. Very happy that for about a total of $2k, I can deal with lugging the portable generator 60ft to our spot to plug it in. Love the electric start and plan on monthly 20-30 minute running test! So far very happy with this set up! Now for the real test of losing power!

Great item to have handy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great item. It us loud but not horribly loud. We hooked it up to the propane tank which it started up immediately. Great handle that bends down for storage. Many plugs to be used. A great item to have in your home for emergency. Every home should have one.

175 HRs , Running strong

Excellent reliability, use on job, always starting and stopping the generator.. Even dropped off of the side of a roof, and it landed up side down , still started first pull after this incident...I have replaced the pull cord once during my two years of ownership

Steady, Reliable, Ready

At 68 years old it was just getting too much for the wife and me to pull-start that old 5k "Powerbase" predecessor anymore, particularly on a cold, snowy day. We moved into a new(er) house this Summer, and decided to upgrade the generator as well. After a ton of research, I settled on the Generac GP8000e, and I have not been disappointed. Last week the power was down Tue, Wed, Thur, and Friday due to a nasty storm. The GP8000e ran day & night for four days without missing a beat. On Saturday, with power retored, we agreed that that beauty had definitely paid for itself. ( We have 2 freezers, the fridge, and it ran our deep well pump as well, so we had water for showers & flushing, besides all our lights and TV. We were very comfortable throughout the storm, and my wife was able to refuel & restart the gen by herself in my absence, ( something she could have never done with the old 5,000. Then, just as we were patting ourselves on the back for the wisdom of our purchase, last night (Sunday) the power went out again, with "Estimate for Restoration: Unknown." To be perfectly honest, we don't care! We started the GP8000e and went to bed. ( It's just Not our Problem! ) I would like to add that: We checked the oil at every "Refuel" and it never used a drop. Actual "Runtime" unknown, we refueled every 12 hours. I definitely Recommend this unit for all of you. ( I made my son buy one for his house ) This is not a purchase, this is an "investment".

xt8500 efi is a very nice generator for the price

I'm a controls engineer who was very fussy about what kind of power that is going to my house. i know what kind of damage could happen if you get power spikes, power surge and transient voltage. all kind of the same thing. when testing what kind of power that came off of it seemed great. 60hz and 240volt RMS. I had zero problem with it. i do charge the battery every 90 days give or take. my only complaint that i have with it is i wanted a spine on oil filter. Generac said it had one, it's a fine screen not quit what i wanted. but it was already delivered so i keep it. One thing i would get for your house with any generator is a whole house surge protector.

Looks good, runs like a charm, easy maintenance.

No more worries with bad weather with my Generac gp 6500. When a storm is coming, I just install my generator, fill it up with gas and wait for mother nature to do her worst. My wife and I cuddle up in the sofa next to the fire place and look out to see the lightning show listening to classical music. it's better than fireworks on the holidays. Meanwhile we still have our well pump hooked up, the micro-wave and coffee maker if need be, and, can't forget the computers, tv, phones and lighting available. It's simply wonderful.
