Haven't actually used it yet as we haven't lost power. BUT I had a friend put it together for me and he showed me how to start it up and it is so easy for me - I'm a girl and sometimes these mechanical things are tricky for me. I'm not dumb by any means - but I'm very busy with full time work and raising kids and was caring for my elderly Dad (who helped me buy the generator ... by the way). So, sometimes I don't have time to figure out stuff ... anyway it's a nice product - only complaint is it doesn't say how much of the oil you package with the machine should be mixed with the gas - we assumed all of it but ... and I am concerned about the gas sitting in it. I had to fuel it up to be sure it worked after I purchased it, but since I haven't used it and may not for a while ??? I'll read the book to see! Thanks and please don't share my personal info. No more worries with bad weather with my Generac gp 6500. When a storm is coming, I just install my generator, fill it up with gas and wait for mother nature to do her worst. My wife and I cuddle up in the sofa next to the fire place and look out to see the lightning show listening to classical music. it's better than fireworks on the holidays. Meanwhile we still have our well pump hooked up, the micro-wave and coffee maker if need be, and, can't forget the computers, tv, phones and lighting available. It's simply wonderful.

I have supplied the house through 3 power actual outages since 2013 Dec for short duration's under 12-hours. Run the GP1750E every couple months to make sure it works when needed. Starts up on no more than 2=pulls / and right away when using the electric start. Load Test Run with 3-HP LPAC [Low Pressure Air Compressor 150 psig] for the sand blaster and other lights and equipment in pole barn. Also run Simulated Power Outage Load Test to supply the house VITAL LOADS connected to our 100 Amp Sub-Panel Load Center about 4 times a year. [[Main Breaker Panel is 200 Amp --- Sub Panel is 100 Amp for fuel-oil heat, well water, sump pump, electric water heater, freezers/refrigerators, appliances in kitchen, various lighting circuits.]] Have TV, Computers, MODEM-Router, Printers on their own UPS [Uninterrupted Power Supply] to give me time to setup generator to supply electric to house. Can set-up and power house in about 5-10 minutes. Great Generator for the $$$ --- only regret was I didn't get a 15-KW Generac automatic Stand-By unit --- but I live in the rural area without natural gas and didn't want to invest in propane just for a generator.

During Hurricane Sandy we were without Power for 13 days. My friend got power back in five days so he lent me his Generac GP 6500 and it powered my four bedroom house for 8 days without a problem running about 20 hours a day. So I went out and bought one for myself. My neighbors with bigger generators were very impressed with my little generator that could.

I purchased the GP1800 to power a natural gas forced hot air unit. After losing power during hurricane Sandy, I used it for most of the first day and night to keep my wife and child warm. I returned home from work to find that the recoil starter assembly had failed, causing the recoil assembly to spin with the crankshaft of the engine, effectively destroying itself. I was able to remove the assembly and start the unit with a length of para-cord. On day 7 of our outage, only using the unit for approx. 6 hours per day to alternately power the heat and 2 refrigerators (individually), the unit just stopped working. The engine had seized, crankshaft unable to move at all. Oil level was okay and was checked every morning before start-up. Hopefully warranty service will be able to repair or replace unit!

We lost power due to a storm and it was going to be at least of couple of days before it came back. I bought this one in a pinch but hindsight I'm really glad I did. Very easy to operate and starting was a snap. I was easily able to run my two refrigerators and three freezers, with room for more. I'll get this tied into the house and be able to run my well and furnace as well. Great product!

I stopped in Lowe's, 5 miles down the road, and bought the generator due to storms damaging electric lines. Easy to assemble, instructions easy to read, put oil and gas in it and fired it up. It’s been providing electric to the house for over 40 hrs, no issues. It’s wired to a transfer box then into the house, and I selectively control the house breaker panel for needs. I keep the water pump, water heater, TV, Internet, and lights on all the time. I selectively control whatever else I need. At night I have a box fan running and can’t really hear (25 ft from the house) the generator. Great product. Buy it! I love the electric start. Wish they had a separate power outlet for charging the battery, instead you have to use one of the 4 120 VAC outlet provided. I made a 1 ft extension cord with three female plugs, and mounted the cord to the frame Now I can charge the battery, and still use the outlet for multiple items. Buy it

We bought our first Generac 7000kw in 2004 it has ran our 55' trailer in the middle of the bush for 7yrs. then built our OFF GRID home powering all our power tools needed for the build, then for the last 3 yrs used as a back up to our Off grid solar system. Still going strong only serviced once to clean it up with a tune up. Purchased New one GP7500E to carry us forward for another 10 yrs and use the older one as our back up. Quiet, easy to use, I will always buy a Generac.

With all of the weather associated power outages occurring these past years, I decided it was time to purchase a portable generator as a back-up . After looking at what was available, I chose the Generac because of its reputation as a reliable machine and at a price I could afford. Love my purchase and I'm not having any worries about its capabilities and performance. I'm now in ready-mode !! / Bonne achat pour me sécurisé en cas de panne d'électricité !!

I purchased this product after reviewing several manufacturers. I was looking for a size that could provide most of the convinces we are used to in the event of an outage. I have a Generic 4000XL that was good but not big enough. We had a six day outage due to a tornado that left most of the city without power. The 4000XL failed in the first five minutes due to a winding wire that got caught in the armature and shot the voltage regulator. This outage convinced me to double the size of the unit as it became a nuisance switching power cables. It would be great to be able to afford a standby natural gas unit but resources are tight. This unit performed very well!!! Even though it is battery start, it started easily manually and on the first pull!!!! Now I need to see if the 4000XL is repairable for smaller building projects that do not need lots of power.
