I bought this generator just under a year ago. We were expecting power outages up to several weeks. Glad that we weren't effected. The reason for my 2 stars is the Generator is supposed to have a great warranty. Buyer beware, after putting the generator together and trying to start it the generator failed to start. I called to have someone to come out to check the generator and was told that I had to bring it to a place. So a generator that weights over 100lbs with a full 7 gal tank of fuel they expected me to transport over 25 miles to have it serviced. I would NEVER buy another product from this company.

This unit has 120 Volt outlets as well as 1-30 Amp 120/240 Volt twist lock outlet. With the 30 Amp outlet you can run More Power! The electric start and pull start are fantastic. The best of both worlds. Just follow the recommendations from the owners manual and carefully select your electric loads and anyone can have emergency power safely. More Power!

I'm a generator mechanic by trade (military) and I know quality when I see it. I am very impressed with the attention to detail. From the oil drain line to the control panel battery charger to the extra large fuel tank. Every aspect of this generator is excellent, to include all the parts needed to perform the first scheduled oil change and maintenance. In that kit was also a funnel, towel, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, foam pre-filter, etc. The frame is extra heavy duty and looks as though it would take the worst of abuse. Some other noted features: spin-on oil filter, idle control switch, fuse protected control panel, a wide variety of fuse protected power outlets, extra large muffler, electric start, never-flat tires, and an incorporated lifting eye. The instructions were easy to read and initial setup took only 20 mins or so. After hooking up the battery (came 100% charged) and filling with oil, one short push of the start switch and it was up and running. Smooth idle and steady clean power top it all off. This is an outstanding generator and I can tell that people (engineers, designers, etc) put a lot of thought into its design. I definitely recommend this generator to anyone looking for reliable backup power and/or portable power.

I have always wanted one of these generators, the reputation is backed up by it's performance. Unit is packaged correctly to prevent damage. Unit is extremely easy to assemble and set up. Started up almost instantaneous the first time, and all the features are very easy to learn. I plan on using with a power transfer switch to power my house when power is lost. Great product, great company, great reputation!

i got this unit all apart. after putting together, i found i dont have ac power. i have 2 volts on the 110 and 4 volts on the 220 side. check it over. every thing is hook up. need help on what to do. i would like to save this unit. motor runs well. bill.

Nowhere does Generac make it clear the RS8000E has a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) rating greater than 3-5% and technically not suitable/safe for modern Home Electronics such as LED TVs, smart phone/computer charging or typically HVAC systems with electronic control boards. If you need an 8000W Generac portable generator for home backup FOR JUST A LITTLE MORE buy the Generac XT8000EFI or XT8500EFI instead which have “TruePower” technology for a THD rating <5%, which is safer for modern home electronics. I would not have purchased the RS8000E if Generac had clearly stated in the specs or on the box that is not ideal or truly safe for modern home electronics. Ask Generac for the THD rating of the RS8000E and all they can say is the THD is >5%, and confirm it’s not recommended for modern home electronics. It surprising, somewhat comical/sad, and inaccurate that on Generac’s own website if for portable generators you filter for “home backup” + “5,000-9,999 watts”, the results DO NOT include the XT8000EFI or XT8500EFI with TruePower, but rather the results list GP & RS series generators that DO NOT have “TruePower” and are not technically safe for modern home electronics. This is very confusing. Generac to update their filters and be more forthright with THD ratings and electronics safety/compatibility for their non-inverter based portable generators.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a first time user I never used a generator earlier and luckily I used this right in the hurricane season and was able to get the most out of it. Just followed the user manual carefully and followed the instructions. It’s easy to start 212cc has good power and I tried using it for for my freezer in the garage and lamps and electric grill for testing and it worked well. Easy transferring. Has a handle and wheels.Not too loud. The fuel tank is good size for the whole night . Best for campers if you can handle the sound.It has fuel on of switch for safety and choke . I definitely feel this can save us from winter storms and outages. You can check the oil level easily. This is very good if you want to power your appliances for 10hours.

Needed to go with a larger unit than what I had due to geothermal system. Wanted something to fill up, plug in, and hit transfer switch. This unit gives me ample power for the heat, a/c, well, and the other critical needs. Would like to had a home standby unit but could not justify the cost due to where electrical service was and where gas service was located. The hookups were the killer for a home standby unit, not the cost of the unit itself. This unit will provide everything I need and then some. Have not run full load test yet but smaller loads were handed spot on. Usually power outages in our area run 5-24 hours so this unit will be great.

I purchased this generator based on the brands reputation. The unit arrived on time and in excellent condition. It started right up on the first try. It is a little loud as other reviewers have mentioned. Overall I am very satisfied, but won't really know until first blackout.

Good Value and easy setup , only took about 15 minutes to setup and get it running , seems as the battery was not charged so had to use pull start and it fired up on first pull. I just did a quick test to make sure it would supply power and all seems fine. good piece of mind to have an alternate source of power when needed . Mark
