I purchased this unit (GP17500E) for home backup power for my CT home. I have been trying to get a dealer / service rep to assemble the unit at my house - for a fee- and spare me the effort of having to lift a 400 pound unit to assemble the wheel kit (I have a bad back)....So far all the service reps in CT have turned me down. One told me they are not taking any more portables...Just be aware that if you purchase this product you'll be on your own trying to assemble it...

If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. I have the above model Generac portable gas generator, still in the box. I am very familiar with this unit as a good friend of mine has the exact same unit. I assisted him in building a house for his family. We used this unit for about 3 months and it fulfilled all of our needs in this house building project. It was used for long periods of time and only turned off for lunch time and never left us without power. After the power company finally installed a temporary pole and electricity to my friends property, we did stop using the unit. Because of its flawless performance I purchased the same generator and I am looking forward to using it...

With multiple power outages that lasted for a week or more, this generator has been one of the best preventative investments I have done. Originally purchased for household power back-up purposes to prevent basement flooding sump pump needs, it has provided ample coverage for other basics - freezer, refrigerator, heat and hot water. Easy to start and maintain with minimal effort. Simple switchover capabilities.

I had researched several brands and models of generators and this 7500W model topped the list each time. Bought it to run tools for home renovation jobs and backup if power was ever lost at home. Does everything I need it to do! Great power for the price! Only downside is noise. This is supposedly noisier than most in its class. This is not an issue for me, but if it was regularly used go home backup, I'd consider a quieter one for running throughout the night.

Assembling the product was easy and took about 45 minutes. I found the generator to start easily and it took no time for it to provide power to my home during a power outage. My 15,000 watt generator provides me and my family the safety and comfort we were looking for in the event of an emergency. This is the second Generac I have owned, my first one was a 1987 model 5,000 watt which I sold to purchase my new model. I highly recommend purchasing one.

I bought this generator just under a year ago. We were expecting power outages up to several weeks. Glad that we weren't effected. The reason for my 2 stars is the Generator is supposed to have a great warranty. Buyer beware, after putting the generator together and trying to start it the generator failed to start. I called to have someone to come out to check the generator and was told that I had to bring it to a place. So a generator that weights over 100lbs with a full 7 gal tank of fuel they expected me to transport over 25 miles to have it serviced. I would NEVER buy another product from this company.

WE BOUGHT THIS GENERATOR AND THE LAST THING WE DID WAS PUT FUEL IN IT AND IT LEAKED ALL OVER THE PLACE. WE TRIED TAKING IT BACK TO THE STORE BUT THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT BECAUSE IT ALREADY HAD FUEL AND OIL IN IT AND SAID WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A SERVICE STORE. WE HADN'T HAD IT FOR ONE HOUR AND HAVE TO DO THAT OURSELVES. NOT SURE WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AT THIS POINT.

Used it for one winter. Started great with battery !Then tried battery start in Spring and it wouldn’t start. Charged battery. no go. Changed battery, no go.Changed spark plug no go! Called customer service and after being on hold for 34 minutes, I told employee my problem and my troubleshooting and she said maybe bad gas, I said it starts manually pull start. She said, maybe new battery is not charged! Checked , full charge. She told me to bring it to local Generac repair shop. Now i gotta rent a truck, lug the 250 pound machine across the state and drop it off to have them check it out. Not sure if its worth the trouble even though its obviously still under warranty til 2023. I heard they were dependable, thats why I bought it. Looks like I’m pull starting for the duration even though the selling point for me was battery start....Bummed out and disappointed!

Compared several modals, sizes, features, the generac was the best overall. Very reliable, easy to use. Had power through hurricane for refrigerator, window a/c , most house lights, made a 4 day power outage tolerable. Had a 12 hour outage recently, I had just come home from a triple bypass, instructed my wife how to start and she got power to house in matter of minutes. Would not want to be without it.
