General Portable Generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Living in South Georgia, I need to be ready for hurricane season, and the Generac GP9500E Tri Fuel Generator gives me that confidence. With 12,500 starting watts and 9,500 running watts (on gas), it’s powerful enough to keep our home running smoothly during an outage. I love that it runs on gas, propane, or natural gas—great flexibility when fuel options are limited. The maintenance is straightforward with clear instructions, and the electric start makes things easy. It’s not whisper-quiet, but for a generator of this size, the noise level is very reasonable and not disruptive. The COsense® safety feature gives added peace of mind, and the 7.5-gallon tank provides over 10 hours of runtime at 50% load. This generator is a wise investment for any household facing severe weather. I’m so thankful for this.

Nice generator.

Just the right size with the right features and at the right price. Wired it in myself with a Reliance generator transfer switch. Bought a GenTent for wet weather use. Had to use it twice already and it worked out great. I'm very happy with my GP3600.

Good So Far

We purchased this generator to serve both as a power back-up to our house; and for ad-hoc use on the farm in locations where we don't have power. We have gas furnace and water heater so this size (7,500 watts) is big enough to run our well pump, sump pump, furnace, water heater, microwave, and two rooms worth of outlets. We are using a transfer switch so all we need to do is wheel out the generator and plug it in. The assembly is pretty basic (wheels and handle) went fairly well (its heavy). The oil filler cap could be in an easier area to get to (you will need a funnel to get oil into it). Once it was gassed and oiled up it started after just a little bit of choking, and after that it starts the first time every time with the push of the electric start. So far we haven't really taxed the generator yet but it has run well so far. I saw the comments in other reviews about gas leaking but I simply switch the fuel supply to off (with the easy to get to lever) and let the engine run a bit until it starts to sputter and then turn it off and there are no fuel leaks (better for longer term storage this way also). Thus, so far so good and seems it will work well for us - hopefully we never have to find out!!

Awesome generator. It's super easy to use.

Love this generator. It supplies all the power I need to run essential circuits in my house, and then some. I love the push button start and the start and stopping instructions printed on top of the machine. Cooler yet is the fuel saving auto idle switch and all of the receptacle options. This thing does everything. Finally, while it's a heavy generator, the wheel kit and large handle bar make it easy to move around.

Generac reputation

This is my second Generac generator. The first one that I had lasted over 14 years. I sold it because after we sold our house, the new one we purchased was larger, and the 6500 w we used could not power the entire house. So, I sold it for a good price, because it was a Generac, it has a reputation for quality that lasts. This new generator GP15000E has the power to power the entire house! It is heavy, but because it has a solid cage frame on pneumatic wheels, (located in a balanced location) it is fairly easy to move. All the controls are easy to reach and read, and with the electric start, it is effortless! The only drawback is the noise factor, however, almost all gasoline generators are noisy! If this one lasts like the last one, I will have it for a long, long time!

Great product, great features, great price!

This unit replaces our 14 year old Generac 4000XL so we knew about product quality and support. This unit is connected to our service panel and can run everything we need in the event of a grid failure! My only complaint is that it does NOT have an idle control like our 4000XL, so it will not use fuel as efficiently. That said, we would still highly recommend this generator.

Lets see how this is handled...

Bottom of box and pallet was taped to pallet. I signed off, delivery driver drove off. 3 hours later, at 6:30 pm I took off the tape to see that somewhere in the process the tape was used to cover up a number of big holes and the powder coated frame was scraped up in 5 places. The battery tray flange was bent. Forklift damage I assume. I'm asking retailer to contact Generac and get me touch up paint to avoid rust... and a return.... I'm in the process of breaking it in. Lets see how Generac handles this, and I'll report back. Somebody tried to cover up a mistake, and it does not reflect well on the brand.

Easy & Reliable Operation

Assembling the product was easy and took about 45 minutes. I found the generator to start easily and it took no time for it to provide power to my home during a power outage. My 15,000 watt generator provides me and my family the safety and comfort we were looking for in the event of an emergency. This is the second Generac I have owned, my first one was a 1987 model 5,000 watt which I sold to purchase my new model. I highly recommend purchasing one.
