I bought it at Sam's Club (06 JUN 22) and assembled it per the instructions. I fired it up once and it ran for a few minutes. When I shut it down and attempted to restart it, it wouldn't fire. It just makes backfiring noises. It still doesn't start or run. Needless to say, I am not pleased! Your phone rep was supposed to forward me a list of authorized repair shops, but I have yet to receive it. I want my generator to run in event of a power loss. Please help me to reconcile this situation.

I’ve only got about 10 or 12 hours on my 6500 but I am amazed at how it performs after surviving two floods in my garage!!! Both times the water got high enough to fill the muffler and reached the electrical outlets. Both times I drained the water out, checked the carburetor and changed the oil to be safe. It fired up, steamed out the remaining bit of water in the muffler and ran as though nothing had happened. I was sure I was going to have to spend a lot of money to get it up and running again. I’m very impressed with my purchase. I’m staying with these guys.

The generator is well worth the money for a stand by system or contractors. It starts easy with the dial and battery. Plenty of power to run the essentials. A little noisy compared to others and the fuel consumption is a bit high, well worth the trade off for this price point

Very pleased with the operation The noise level is very low compared to another brand and living in a subdivision is very good to have this Only use it once so far and it performed excellent Already mentioned it to a friend who want me to install one for him

Haven't actually used it yet as we haven't lost power. BUT I had a friend put it together for me and he showed me how to start it up and it is so easy for me - I'm a girl and sometimes these mechanical things are tricky for me. I'm not dumb by any means - but I'm very busy with full time work and raising kids and was caring for my elderly Dad (who helped me buy the generator ... by the way). So, sometimes I don't have time to figure out stuff ... anyway it's a nice product - only complaint is it doesn't say how much of the oil you package with the machine should be mixed with the gas - we assumed all of it but ... and I am concerned about the gas sitting in it. I had to fuel it up to be sure it worked after I purchased it, but since I haven't used it and may not for a while ??? I'll read the book to see! Thanks and please don't share my personal info. We bought a GP 6500..Great brand..one you can trust..wouldent be caught with out one..runs every thing in our house. We have an outdoor wood boiler and runs it with no problem and runs for ever..no having to go out and fill it multiple time during the night with gas to make it thru the night

We recently purchased the Generac GP6500 and couldn’t be more pleased with this product. This generator had its fair share of use after the recent damage caused by hurricane Florence in the coastal region of Eastern North Carolina. The GP6500 generator was easy to assemble and started up on the first pull out of the box. The generator ran continually throughout the daytime hours for a solid week after the hurricane had passed through our area knocking out power to our subdivision. We had NO issues or complications with our Generac GP6500 while we were waiting to have our power restored. Also, we noticed that the full burn of the generator seemed to be more efficient than expected. This was a major relief to us since all gas stations in our area were closed due to lack of available refueling trucks as well as there was no electricity to operate the gas pumps at the stations. Not having to worry about running out of gas for our generator was very reassuring. Not only did we use our Generac GP6500 after we lost power at our home we also continued to use it as we participated in various clean-up projects for others homes who suffered severe storm damage in which utility power was not able to be restored. The GP6500 was small enough to be transported to various worksites as home repairs were needed throughout our region. Again, we used our generator all throughout the day while we operated electrical equipment to assist with clean up and various home salvaging activities. We’ve since winterized our Generac GP6500 (which was simple and easy to perform) and have it stored and ready for the next time it is needed. Unfortunately, living close to the coast in North Carolina results in yearly threats of hurricanes. However, we are comforted knowing that we are prepared for any future storms and power outages with our Generac GP6500 ready to go in the garage. Good Job Generac!

Easy to set up. Large wheels makes it a almost effortless to move around. The extension that comes with the unit is handy when I move it off site. Normally we use this generator as a standby unit in case of storms and other power outages. We connect it to our transfer switch with a 50 ft. very heavy twist lock extension cord. Easy to start and relatively quiet. Great value for the money.

This is a great generator for our entire house. No shortage of power and seems to be built solid. I really like the fact that it came with a battery charger to ensure its always ready to go. It's a little loud but not outrageous. Great generator dollar for dollar. We are ready for another ice storm with this Generac.

Bought during a power outage and brought power back to my house very quickly. Assembly is simple and straightforward. Generator has started first pull and still starts very well with the included electric start. pushes a lot of power so nominal rating is not overrated. a bit noisy but I was amazed to see how little gas it used. Not the cheapest, but quality is top.
