Heavy duty power generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generac power generator is an essential item. It's heavy duty and useful for periodic outages and is needed to keep my fridges running to keep my perishables items. I'm glad this one is dual fuel; gasoline and propane and that is much appreciated. It's fairly loud as expected of a power generator but we keep it far away with a long extension cord. Not an issue with noise. One of those things where you don't realize you need it until you really do. Definitely a must have if you are worried about keeping your items in the fridge fresh during power outages.

The real deal!

This is the real deal. My 16 year old Storm Responder was getting tired after many hurricanes and power outages then Beryl hit us hard. Time to upgrade, Picked this thing up from Sam's on sale. Had to drive to to Lake Charles to find one in stock but Curb Side pick up worked flawless. I pulled up, they tossed it in back of my truck and I was on the way back home. Took about an hour to assemble because directs were poor at best. Started instantly the first time. Ran the next 100 hours strait stopping only for fuel and oil changes. I have a 30A transfer switch on my breaker box. Running a 12k BTU window AC unit and the rest of my 1800SF house minus the central AC unit was a breeze. Fuel usage was about 1 gallon every 2 hours. About 6 gallons each 12 hour fill up. The only feature I wish it have was a usage/demand meter to see what the load is but it NEVER struggled. Buy this one!

Great features.

I bought this one, it served me well during these power outages they have here in Tennessee. Powered my fridge, two bedrooms ( t/v's and boxes), electric fire places. Filled it up at night, it would run all night. (8+ hours). It served me well. I have the whole house one now.

Amazing Generator!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generac Power Systems GP4000 Dual Fuel 49 ST Portable Generator works amazingly well. We have power outages a lot where we live, especially in winter with all the rainstorms, so this has already come in handy a few times. It's a big generator and will work to power your essentials, but not so big you that it's ridiculously hard to get out of storage and get started. It's a pull start which is easy to use. I do wish it had a push start option as well, but it's not a dealbreaker. This gave us enough power to run essentials, like my espresso machine, recliner chair, lights, fridge, and chargers. It was easy to put together. And the wheels and handle make it super easy to maneuver around. I love that it's dual fuel. You can use either propane or gasoline. It's a nice generator and will be used for years to come.

Worth the Money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are absolutely in love with this generator. Be warned, that it does weigh 120 pounds, so you'll need to be able to grab it inside and have to move it around to attach the wheels and handle. This is unique because it allows for two different power sources - gasoline or propane. Once the wheels and handle are attached, is is very easy to move around. Fairly compact for the amount it can power our house, so that is a huge perk! Only suggestion, would be to add a clip for the hose. Again, small suggestion. Great brand and great product!

needless waste of my time to resolve warranty issu

Originally purchased unit from a general distributor. The product did not work as it should. Spent months trying to get that resolved. The process was gruesome and useless. Finally after months & hours of my time a resolution was determined to replace the unit with a new one. This unit appears to perform as advertised and expected. So long story short, replacement made but after months of aggravation. Not what I ever bargained for.

Easy, reliable portable generator

We bought this two months ago and while not having to use it yet, in preparation for the NE winter that'll be here before we know it, did gas it up and test started it twice since. It was very easy to fill up and run through the steps with no problems. Both times it started immediately. Knowing we have a reliable portable generator will ease our worries significantly!!

Nice generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This geneator will be great when we are boondocking with our RV! It requires gasoline which is a minus for me because of the smell but at the same time, it is easy to find and purchase. This is a very heavy item, and you will need a friend to move it around!

Perfect peace of mind for backup power

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As we head into the winter months, I'm so grateful to have the Generac Power Systems GP5500 Single Fuel Portable Generator. Power outages are pretty common where I live, and having this gives me real peace of mind knowing I can keep our outdoor refrigerator running and save our perishables if we lose power. The generator itself is quite large, but that's to be expected given its power and capacity — and setup was surprisingly easy with minimal assembly required right out of the box. It feels solid, well-built, and dependable. While I mainly use it as a backup for power loss, it's strong enough to handle outdoor work or hobby use as well. It's one of those purchases you hope you don't need often, but you're so thankful to have when you do.

I'm sold on this generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you want a generator that's strong, reliable, and not hard to figure out, the Generac GP5500 is a great choice. I was scared of this generator at first.  I am glad to have it for power outages and outdoor use, and it really delivered.  With a bit of help I was able to get it up and running.  Let's talk about the pros and cons and why it may be a good choice for you.  Pros     •    Plenty of power for the essentials — fridge, freezer, lights, fans, and small appliances.     •    Runs for hours on one tank.     •    Easy to start, even with the pull cord.     •    Sturdy build with wheels that make it easier to move.     •    Very dependable with the items I plugged into it.  Cons     •    It's heavy, so expect to roll it instead of lifting it.      •    A little loud — not sure what's normal.   If your power is out or you are outside and it works the noise doesn't matter.     •    Not the best for sensitive electronics like high-end computers.  Plug in the things you need the most during an outage.  Ease of Use Super simple. Just:     •    Add fuel     •    Check oil     •    Turn the switch     •    Start it That's all. Very beginner friendly.  I feel more secure knowing that I am prepared for an outage. I would recommend.
