[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generac Power Systems GP4000 Dual Fuel 49 ST Portable Generator works amazingly well. We have power outages a lot where we live, especially in winter with all the rainstorms, so this has already come in handy a few times. It's a big generator and will work to power your essentials, but not so big you that it's ridiculously hard to get out of storage and get started. It's a pull start which is easy to use. I do wish it had a push start option as well, but it's not a dealbreaker. This gave us enough power to run essentials, like my espresso machine, recliner chair, lights, fridge, and chargers. It was easy to put together. And the wheels and handle make it super easy to maneuver around. I love that it's dual fuel. You can use either propane or gasoline. It's a nice generator and will be used for years to come.

It requires gasoline which is a minus for me because of the smell but at the same time, it is easy to find and purchase. This is a very heavy item, and you will need a friend to move it around!

Fortunately, we have not had to run it for an extended period of time since receiving; however, test runs have been successful and it seems like it will work efficiently and as expected for when we need it to run for hours. The generator came on a pallet and was packaged well. It is HEAVY without the wheels and handles. About 170 lbs I believe. So you'll want at least two people to lift (or just rip the box open like I did). Instructions are clear and assembly was pretty quick - about 20 minutes or so. It's definitely easier to assemble if you have more than one person. Once the handles and wheels are attached, it is easy to move around. While I'd recommend moving it with both hands, I was able to push it with one arm and record with the other and I'm not that strong. The generator itself feels very heavy duty and high quality. It seems like it'll last a long time. It's easy to start up and not excessively loud (it's a generator after all, so there is some sound to it running). I like that the wheels don't need air so they won't go flat. I also like that there are several outlets with attached outlet covers for protection. Lastly, as someone who is very anxious I greatly appreciate that this generator has onboard carbon monoxide monitoring. Overall, I'm incredibly satisfied with this generator and I'm happy we're prepared for the future!

It has all the essential features that a generator need, i live in the south so losing electric during the hurricane seasons is nothing new. The size is decent for an essential generator, not to mention its outstanding performance that help my refrigerator, can charge my electric car, microwave during the time of losing power. The design feature is phenomenal for its safety features. I highly recommend getting one.

The GP5500 has power to spare. It ran all of my essential home items—refrigerator, freezer, Wi-Fi, several lights, and even the microwave—without any strain or noticeable fluctuations. I've also used it to power a couple of heavier tools for outdoor projects, and it handled everything smoothly. Starting it is surprisingly effortless. The recoil start consistently comes to life on the first or second pull as long as the basics (fresh fuel, clean oil) are in order. It's refreshingly straightforward for a generator of this size. In terms of noise, it's about what you'd expect from an open-frame unit—comparable to a lawnmower at a reasonable distance. Audible, yes, but not disruptive or harsh. The fuel efficiency is another standout. One full tank carried me comfortably through an evening and overnight stretch, which was especially appreciated during the outage. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the weight. Even with the wheel kit, maneuvering it across uneven ground takes a bit of strength. Once it's in place, though, it's rock-solid. Overall, the Generac GP5500 is a reliable, well-designed generator that delivers exactly what you need during an outage or for demanding projects. I purchased this generator to supply power when the electric goes out due to storms and high winds at our home. Set up was very quick with attaching the wheels, handle bar, and front stops. I filled the unit with the supplied oil, put a little gas in it and hit the electric start. Battery was dead, probably due to prolonged storage. This was actually good because it forced me to try the pull start. I was shocked how easily it started! My 16 year old daughter could have easily started it which is great if I’m not around to use it. I charged the battery and tested the electric start and it worked great. The unit is much quieter than I thought it would be too. Works great!!

This is the real deal. My 16 year old Storm Responder was getting tired after many hurricanes and power outages then Beryl hit us hard. Time to upgrade, Picked this thing up from Sam's on sale. Had to drive to to Lake Charles to find one in stock but Curb Side pick up worked flawless. I pulled up, they tossed it in back of my truck and I was on the way back home. Took about an hour to assemble because directs were poor at best. Started instantly the first time. Ran the next 100 hours strait stopping only for fuel and oil changes. I have a 30A transfer switch on my breaker box. Running a 12k BTU window AC unit and the rest of my 1800SF house minus the central AC unit was a breeze. Fuel usage was about 1 gallon every 2 hours. About 6 gallons each 12 hour fill up. The only feature I wish it have was a usage/demand meter to see what the load is but it NEVER struggled. Buy this one!

The generator stopped giving the power output after two hours running straight. I tried troubleshooting in every way and it’s still not working. Worst when we were transporting this to Sam’s Club to return, the wheel broke. Very disappointed with the quality two issues on the same day. Now, it’s stuck in my garage and I can’t even move it because it’s super heavy and the wheel doesn’t work .

The electric start is a plus, and the fuel tank easily held a 5 gallon gas container.
