Great Generator

I bought this for my 5th wheel after experiencing a power outage, it has a 4 prong 30amp plug, and several 20amp plugs. There is a Y adapter that can be purchased after market to plug into the 30amp and the 20amp and then to your 50amp RV plug. This lets you utilize at least 45 amps from your generator. Now I can power both A/C units when on portable power.

Powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've looked around for a while for a generator and am very glad we now have the GP6500. For some reason, when a storms come through our area we loose power a lot. It is comforting knowing we have the generator. The GP6500 allows us also to use it our at our fence to run the sprayers when we repainted the fence and also down at the barn to run power tools as we are building. I am very very glad we now have the GP6500.

Both tires don't hold air. Oil bottle opened during shipping and was over everything. Had to buy locking nuts to mount handle. Looks like a "tickle

When I opened the parts package there was oil over everything. Pumped up a flat tire and now both are flat. Had to purchase locking nuts to install the handle. It appears to work well, but your detail and instruction booklet leaves much to be desired. This replaces a 15-year-old 15KW unit, so am confident that it will perform well. Along with a spare air filter there was what appeared to be a "tickler" cable/plug, but no place on the generator to plug it in (when & if needed to restore the magnetic generator load).

Good Product

I bought this to replace an ancient portable generator that had become unrepairable. Only problem with the new one is that there was a shard of bare metal on the black frame work that gashed my finger, requiring three stitches to stop the bleeding. This should have been caught at final inspection before packing.

It meets all my requirements

I had been shopping for a generator for 6 months, could not take the buying step. My wife consulted my nephew who said generac was best. Christmas a.m. was I surprised. Took 20 minutes to assemble, fill the oil sump, hit start and it ran like a top. What a relief to have back-up power if needed. excellent warranty, easy to move, happy with my Christmas gift.

Very good quality and simple to use

Bought during a power outage and brought power back to my house very quickly. Assembly is simple and straightforward. Generator has started first pull and still starts very well with the included electric start. pushes a lot of power so nominal rating is not overrated. a bit noisy but I was amazed to see how little gas it used. Not the cheapest, but quality is top.

Good Product

I bought this electric start Generac Portable generator for its Electric Start Feature. I have owned a Generac Non Electric Start Model for approximately 10 years and have been very satisfied with it. I bought this model for the Electric Start feature. I wish Generac kept the previous style handles which were separate and could be easily locked into position with the spring loaded pins. The new model uses a pin on a cable which is harder to use and flimsy. Also I do not know why Generac placed the Sticker with the Serial and Model number just below the generator motor with about 2 inches of clearance with the frame making it very difficult if not impossible to see and photograph. I had to lay on my garage floor in the cold with a digital SLR camera to photo the serial and model number and did not get the quality photo I would have liked. The Serial and Model Numbers could have been easily seen and photographed if the sticker was placed on the opposite bar of the frame which has plenty of space to be photographed which I do in the event of theft. Other than the handles and the sticker I am very pleased with the unit.

Excellent Generator

This is a great product for the price. The generator starts easily and runs fairly quiet. The fuel tank is huge and i can get about 8 hours out of a tank.I gave it 4 stars for only one reason and that is because of the wheels. This generator is very heavy and they should have sealed bearings on the wheels because when you have to move it on grass it is hard to push or pull.

Cranks easy

I bought the 6500e to run my heat pump, I have a generac 17kw standby unit but the guy that hooked up find the wire the heat pump in and was less trouble to wire it outside for a portable unit. This unit fires up in a half a turn with the electric start and pulls the heat pump with ease!

A portable beast

When I decided to purchase my generator, I spoke with a fellow instructor at the JATC. The company he works for is an authorized dealer of Generac and he understood my needs, as my home doesn't have natural gas nor a large propane tank. This generator is basically a whole house generator on wheels but uses gasoline. Assembly was rather easy with basic tools but a friend to help is recommended due to the weight of the unit. Speaking of weight, maneuvering is easy with the large pneumatic tires. Once the fuel system was primed it fires up a moment after the start toggle is pressed. The fuel tank is large, most small cars don't even hold 16 gallons, buy several 5 gallon cans as they are easier to lift/transport. As a licensed electrician I did the install myself and chose not to install a transfer switch but used a main breaker lock-out on my panel. As it sits the generator is not AUTO transfer switch ready but any good electrician could void your warranty and make it work...lol. For being all electric I have a light load of only 44A max per leg and the GP17500E doesn't even bat an eye. Summary.....have basic tools and a friend to help. Higher an electrician to install the proper legal hook-up means. Buy several gas can and rotate the fuel often. Very satisfied with everything.
