Generac reputation

This is my second Generac generator. The first one that I had lasted over 14 years. I sold it because after we sold our house, the new one we purchased was larger, and the 6500 w we used could not power the entire house. So, I sold it for a good price, because it was a Generac, it has a reputation for quality that lasts. This new generator GP15000E has the power to power the entire house! It is heavy, but because it has a solid cage frame on pneumatic wheels, (located in a balanced location) it is fairly easy to move. All the controls are easy to reach and read, and with the electric start, it is effortless! The only drawback is the noise factor, however, almost all gasoline generators are noisy! If this one lasts like the last one, I will have it for a long, long time!

It is Loud but Works Well

Like others, I do find this generator to be a little on the loud side. I also have an older Generac 4000XL that is nowhere near as loud. With that said, I am very happy with the generator so far. I have run it only about 20 minutes but fully intend to give it a break-in workout this weekend. First impressions are it is substantially more than the 4000XL in ways far beyond just the wattage ratings. I like the electric start, the tank filler screen, the fuel line filter, the metal fuel shutoff valve, and many other details that just make me feel this generator is considerably more solid. I do wish it was a pressurized oil system and filter on the engine, but I could not justify the price increase to get that feature. All in all, I find this generator to be an excellent value. Yes there are trade-offs, but it will serve my home backup purposes well.

Great buy

With all of the weather associated power outages occurring these past years, I decided it was time to purchase a portable generator as a back-up . After looking at what was available, I chose the Generac because of its reputation as a reliable machine and at a price I could afford. Love my purchase and I'm not having any worries about its capabilities and performance. I'm now in ready-mode !! / Bonne achat pour me sécurisé en cas de panne d'électricité !!

To close for comfort

Just bought my RS8,000E unit. Easy to assemble. Love the easy start push button. Like the back up pull cord-(if needed). Very heavy unit. Huge fuel tank capacity. We lost power 2 days ago from a storm and looks like couple more days will be out. Not gonna waste $500+ meat in deep freezer, $200+ in refrigerated/freezer indoors to thawing. Bought this unit, ran home, set up, plugged all our stuff in. Saved the day Generac...**** P.S. I should have read the directions better on spacing. All hooked up, running, chained the unit to the fence, and was 2 ft away from my garage siding. After 1.5 hrs running smelled a strange smell in air. Couldn't find it till we we looked at Generator again...... My garage vinyal siding was melting. The exhaust was blowing hot, melting my siding. Arggg. Guess I missed the part of keep 10 ft clearance all around. (Too close for comfort). Still runs great.

A great backup system

We had a standby 12K natural gas backup generator from Generac in upstate NY and when we moved to eastern North Carolina we had nothing so we decided to go with a portable. Purchased the Generac 7600E (electric start) and had a electrician wire a 10 circuit panel into our house circuits. When the power goes out, we just plug the generator into the house circuits, start it and turn on the house circuits 1 at a time. Works wonderfully. My only wish is that the electric start battery system had a meter to tell the user how much voltage was left in the battery. Overall cost about $1500.

this product, GP17500E, so works

After having our electrical disconnect professionally installed by the power company our Generac GP17500E, Provides power to our 5,800 square foot home without interruption. Just to give you little back ground as to what it operates is as follows: 5 ton heat and AC, well, for water, Three deep freezers, two kitchens, all lighting and electrical, etc... I can't get over how impressed I am how efficient the generator operates. The added bonus is that I can transport the generator and multi task with it as well. I also bought it due the great reviews for their warranty. Knock on wood I have not needed to use but its there. Love my Generac

Time will tell.

Recieved from fed Ex in great shape, no dings or dents. Simple, straight-forward minimal assembly. Pressed electric start button and starter only spun, NOT engaging the flywheel. Pulled hand starter once and fire right up. Put included battery charger on. Next day tried electric starter and no issues, so battery needed 'topping off' even though sent as 'charged'. Battery seems a bit small for this size engine. My lawn tractor has a bigger batter for the same HP. This is going to be a covered, outside unit and it will be seeing and starting in below freezing temps. Will be interesting. Will be kept on the battery charger

Seems to be well built. Could use a volt meter.

This is a fresh purchase so have not had a chance to operate it as of yet. Looks to be a well built machine and am hoping for a good experience owning it. My main concern is that I can plug it into my double throw auxiliary power and feed power to multiple buildings. The neutral bonding should allow for this. My past gen. Had neutral bonded to fram and would not function this way without throwing the breaker on the gen.

I tought it wasn't going to be powerfull enough.

We live in western Massachusetts and in October we got hit with the snow storm and we lost power for 7 days because of it. Luckily I had the GP6500E in my garage ready go. I also had a 6 circuit transfer switch connected to my main electrical box which is a nice thing to have. Connected to the transfer switch I had all of the lights in the house including the outside lights, furnace, water heather, 1 refrigerator, 1 freezer, 1/3 of the outlets in the house where I had 2 LCD TVs with game consoles and satellite boxes and 1 LED TV with satellite box. I ran the generator between 8 to 12 hours a day when it was need it and let me tell you it handled everything very well and efficiently, little loud when near it but when inside the house and away from it won’t bother you at all. One night a ran it all night to try it and it ran 11 hours on a full tank with enough fuel left to keep running for a little longer, (remember only a few things running at night like furnace, frig., etc. (average 500 watts) very little wattage used here only when they kick in). Good thing to have when you need it specially in cold weather.
