Good machine but no load monitor

Assembly was rather easy, unit started right up with the electrical start. Was disappointed that the unit does not have a load monitor that tells you how much of output is being used. This should be an important addition to the unit. The breaker switch technique just tells you when you have over loaded the unit.

Excellent generator. First time owner, couldn’t have been easier!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven’t used a modern generator before - last one we had was 25 years old, was noisy, shaky, and we’d wear ourselves out getting it to start. Oh, and then there was the exhaust, smoke and low current. Not anymore! This thing is a dream. Arrived well packaged and was a breeze to set up. Basically you attach the wheels, front rests and handle and it’s ready to go. Well you add oil (included, along with a handy funnel) From there, startup instructions are well documented in the book AND on the generator itself. I really appreciate that there are easy to follow graphical steps on the unit itself for starting and running the unit. A few quick pulls and it was purring like a kitten. I haven’t had a chance to put too much load on it, but so far it’s easily powered everything I’ve thrown at it! The unit is heavy, feels like everything is high quality, and I expect it to last a long time. Definitely recommend!

Excellent purchase

After 3 years of ownership with w1 hr/year running, had to run generator for 4 days continuously with time-outs for refueling and oil-checking. Clean gas, fresh oil 2 days prior to weather event and when needed, the generator started immediately, took the load with no surging. Minor light flickering of LED lights when dimmed, but voltage was spot-on and consistent. Heavy motor starting loads did not change generator output or tone and fuel useage to run 4 bedroom house with well, furnace, lighting, entertainment, refrigerator, dish-washer and on occasion electric oven was about 5 gallons per 24 hour day. Generator is well designed and apparently bullet proof.

Nice generator.

Just the right size with the right features and at the right price. Wired it in myself with a Reliance generator transfer switch. Bought a GenTent for wet weather use. Had to use it twice already and it worked out great. I'm very happy with my GP3600.

So far, so good

Bought this in the summer before we really needed it. Last winter, we were without power for 3-4 days after an ice storm. You couldn't find a generator at any store for miles around. We ended up using small inverters hooked up to the vehicles to power our deep freeze. I haven't used this one yet under load, only to make sure it started and ran a power drill. So far, so good.

DeWalt 6500 Series

My review is based on the DeWalt 6500 made by Generac. DeWalt a name that is associated with quality products. No matter if it's tools or a generator. DeWalt is a name that is synonymous in the industry for quality. This generator is made by Generac for Dewalt which also is a name that is synonymous in the power generator industry for reliable generators. The bigger the watts on the generator usage, the longer run time at 50% power before refueling. In other words if you run the generator at half load (in this particular case 2 divided into 6500 watts = 3250 watts) you will decrease the fuel consumption by about half. The generator will not have to run at maximum speed to produce a continuous 6500 watts. That is why if you plan on purchasing a generator, always purchase a bigger generator in terms of wattage than you will need. This will decrease your fuel consumption by the generator and you'll be able to run for an extended period of time on the same amount of fuel. Living in South Louisiana along the Gulf Coast, we experience hurricanes often. This generator will allow me the peace of mind knowing that the size of this DeWalt generator will allow me to know that this generator will meet my most critical needs after my power has been knocked out and knowing that the DeWalt name is behind this generator. This generator will allow me to keep my refrigerator and freezer (packed with seafood) continually working and keeping my family comfortable in the hot and humid Louisiana weather. One thing to remember, when using a generator, plug-in one appliance at a time to keep the generator from spiking. All appliances have a capacitor which kicks in when first starting the appliance. This draws quite a bit of wattage from the generator. The capacitor is used to to start the unit and once the unit is up and running the capacitor will disengage and the unit will be running normal. Once this is accomplished the next appliance can be plugged into the generator outlet. Repeat the procedure for the next appliance. This procedure will keep the generator from spiking and shutting down. This DeWalt generator is packed with many features that makes it practical and versitly for a portable generator. DeWalt uses two words to define their array of products "GUARANTEED TOUGH" and that is the truth!

Solid construction and easy set up.

I spent the extra couple of bucks to get the electric start model for my wife. I'm in law enforcement and if I'm ever stuck at work during an emergency, I want it to be easy for her to set up and get things going. Right out of the box, set up was easy. Followed the directions and fired it up with the electric start. I let it run for a bit and it didn't seem any louder than any other generator that I've been around. Very happy with it.

superior product

A power loss at our daughter's home led to our purchasing this product which was of such superior quality to the "store" brand as to make this an easy decision. Quick and relatively easy set up (one balky nut/bolt) got her the power she needed to save a freezer of food. This product is sturdy, solid and easy to start.

Excellent

I bought the GP8000E about 6 months ago for my house, I liked Generac so much that I just bought a GP2200i 9/12/2018 and received it today 9/15/2018. I just put oil in it, and going to get some gasoline. This one is for my tools (drills, circular saws etc.) I like Generac products. Thanks, Frank The GP8000E is Excellent The GP2200i I haven't tried yet.
