This unit is very easy to set up and use. Ran the electrical system to my breaker box and it does an excellent job. the exhaust is a little noisier than I would like but well worth the money. Very neat machine and no rattles. I would like to see the battery cables re- configured to make the battery easier to hook up because I keep the battery in our home where it is warmer. Maybe clamps instead of the small bolts and nuts for the positive and negative terminals on the battery.

If looks meant anything, this is a killer of a generator. I took back a B & Stratton, then bought this. Works great, easy to set up and works flawlessly with the your Manual Transfer switch. Generac is second to none when it comes to generators. Jeff M.

Bought this as a replacement for a Coleman 5500 Vertex that quit producing power. Assembly was straight forward for the wheel kit and handle. Started right up and is noticeably quieter than my old unit. I like the pull cord backup if the battery is dead. Its also nice that is has a fuel gauge. My complaints are the non-charging engine so the battery is only charged from the included 120 volt charger. The other complaint is the electric start switch is on the front panel of the unit and the choke which you have to set before starting and then adjust/turn off upon starting is on the end of the unit. Either move the switch near the choke or add a choke adjustment cable pull on the front panel.

For some reason, when a storms come through our area we loose power a lot. It is comforting knowing we have the generator. The GP6500 allows us also to use it our at our fence to run the sprayers when we repainted the fence and also down at the barn to run power tools as we are building. I am very very glad we now have the GP6500.

We've had bad storm blow through our area this year and power goes out easily. My husband hooked up the generac to our fridge and a few other household things and it may our time without power so much easier. It is not very loud and it's easily to move around. When our power came back on we brought it to our sons house so they could run things Everyone's benefits from this.

I bought my GP8000e a few years ago. It's been a fairly good machine overall.It's fairly easy on gas. We run a light load most of the time. Fuel consumption is somewhere around .33 - .5 GPH. There's plenty of power on hand for when the submersible well pump starts. You hardly even notice it. The electric start is a great feature. The battery charger is also another good design feature. It was a wise choice to do it that way. There have been a few downsides. Cold starts around 0 deg F can be a little difficult. Keep a can of starting fluid on hand and use it sparingly. I had to remake a few of the welds on the frame. Though very careful to use non-ethanol premium fuel treated with stabilizer ... the carb did need to be removed and cleaned in it's second year of operation. It's probably best not to run the carb dry of fuel. Another thing is that the steel fuel tank began to rust and the fuel gauge clouded up within the first year. It might be helpful to redesign the start/run/stop rocker switch.You can inadvertently hit the starter with the machine running when you are intending to shut it down. In summary ... the core of the machine ... motor and alternator are pretty solid. The peripherals like the frame, fuel tank, and rocker switch could use a bit of improvement.

Generac has been around four years. I have used them in the past and will continue to use them in the future. The unit is fairly heavy which makes it hard to move around but you have so much in that account back please I can understand why it's so heavy. my unit fires up real fast and runs a long time and one tank of fuel.

It is easy to switch between settings. It is heavy but with the wheels is portable and easy to move. It definitely makes noise, but to be expected with the size of generator and it’s tolerable. Perfect for emergency/power outages, job sites/ tools and camping. Well worth the investment if looking for generator, especially with the tri fuel option!!

I bought this generator a little more than 4 years ago. Living in the Gulf Coast region of Texas, I was looking for something to keep the lights on during hurricane season. in those 4 years, I never had the need to use it. So, it sat. As fate would have it, the first time that I ever needed to crank it up was during an "ice storm." I wheeled it out, filled it up with gasoline, checked the oil, and it cranked on the second pull. (electric start didn't work since I hadn't kept the battery charged) It ran continuously for 4 days until the utility power was restored.
