All refrigerators are crappy but this one seems somewhat less crappy than average. One key is to avoid fancy features. The fewer things there are to break the fewer will break.

My fridge went down @ 5 1/2 years old, out of warranty. Lg sent a tech to the house and the fridge was fixed for free. All parts and labor were covered.
