Finally I feel like my carpet is clean!!! I have a dog who occasionally has an accident. I never feel like I am getting the mess totally picked up...plus the spot usually takes 2 days to dry. Now I can see the difference and feel the difference....plus I can walk on the carpet in about 1 hour. Love it!!

Easy to assemble,easy to use ! Light enough to use on staircases. This machine really does a great deep clean, it removed years old "doggy" stains easily. I thought I would be replacing carpets but this machine cleaned so well I don't need to. If you have pets you need this carpet cleaner !!!

Carpet cleaner does not suck up water on Berber carpet. I called the 1-800 number in my booklet and they told me that the Berber carpet is "delicate". Their is nothing in there ad or booklet that tells you it will not work on this type of carpet. I have wasted my money since most of my house is Berber.

bought model 1551 started to clean a sofa with the hand tool.I moved the unit around like instruction said,approx 40 minutes into it it started spitting out black rubber material and the brush stopped spinning.tried to return it to store they wouldnt give me a refund.So this machine is 40 minutes old wont work and now I have to wait on parts that no one knows are correct and then I have to repair this piece of junk.I guess my time and labor is worth nothing! never again bissell

Had an old Bissell carpet cleaner for years and then for some reason it stopped working right. It was so good I purchased a newer one. It really does a great job at cleaning our carpets especially the heavy traffic areas. So glad I purchased another one.

I use this product to clean my carpets probably once a month. I ALWAYS vacuum first to avoid dust and grim build up when using the cleaner. Although, the cleaner still picks up dust and lint that my vacuum missed (which is great) but it gets stuck in the little area where the water gets sucked up and clogs it up. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNCLOG! Also, when I am changing the way I'm cleaning (push, pull back, push) it leaves dirty water lines which I then have to clean over again and its a terrible cycle. When I'm done cleaning, if i don't hurry up and set it on a towel , it'll leave a dirty water mark on the carpet that is so hard to get out! It leaks everywhere in the upright position... even after tanks have been emptied! SO AGGRAVATING! I'd recommend this product to clean carpets, but keep in mind the struggle I am having with it. The Hose attachment IS FABULOUS FOR STAIRS!

This is my 2nd Bissell carpet cleaner. I purchased this model after watching an infomercial. This machine performed much better than my previous model. I have 6 dogs, 2 of them puppies so my carpet was really in need of a deep cleaning. I certainly feel like I got this yesterday. I also cleaned a couch and a side chair. I was impressed with the removal of dirt from the furniture as well as the carpet. Out performed my previous model and was easier to use. I needed to refill the clean water tank several times but it was easier to do than previous model. I was also happy with cleaning of the machine afterwards. The tanks were easy to clean and the bottom of the machine is completely clean due to the changes in the machine itself. I never felt like I could get all the carpet fibers and pet hair out of the area where the water comes out to the carpet. The tool provided as well as the physical changes made to the machine are wonderful!! Thank you for this improvement. I highly recommend this Bissell product!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this several years ago because it was lightweight. Owned and older model that was heavy and had a bladder, I worked great, but bladder was hard to clean. This one has more problems that a hard to clean bladder, The dirty water tank leaks constituently no matter what you do. then even after shut down and cleaning you have to be careful if you don't wait for the interior of the machine where the jack shaft is located because it get water in there and the bearing will rust and seize up which will cause the belts to break and the jack shaft and bearings to need replaced. Have rebuilt this twice so far. Parts cost about $40 and a lot of time. I have to let it set for days and run it a little about twice every day till it dry's out enough so that I don't have to rebuilt it to use it again the next time I need it. Have rebuilt down to the jack shaft at least twice since I bought the many years ago, but first problem was after the first use. I guess cheap is cheap. Not worth the trouble we've gone through.

We have two cats and two dogs, tile in most of our house, but carpet in the bedrooms, plus two area rugs in the living room. I used it on our master bedroom carpet and the two area rugs. I also did a second rinse cycle, since I don't like to leave the soap in the carpet. It cleaned the carpets and rugs really well, and got up a lot of pet fur. I vacuum regularly, but there was still a lot of fur in the carpet. I like that it left the fur in balls on the floor, as I didn't want it getting in the machine and clogging it. Although, the waste water was still dirty during the rinse cycle, my carpet looked just as clean as when I have it professionally done. However, it had been five years since my last cleaning, and I think I should have had a professional cleaning, then used the Bissell for refreshing. I'm amazed that the machine worked as well as it did, considering the carpet and rugs were really dirty!

I am older and it is very hard to do the heavy cleaning in my house. I do have family who helps, but I wanted to get it done now! Ordered this cleaner hoping it would be light enough for me to handle. It is! It cleans well and does a decent job of removing the water from the carpet.
