I loved it but...
It was a gift for my birthday. All the features were amazing. Take a call make a call. Answer a text by voice. See a text. Notifications would appear. Steps tracker. Then all of a sudden I did the software update and I've never been able to use the voice to text when sending a reply to a text message again... Bummer, unhappy face.
Sleek, Stylish, Superior…
The Samsung Gear S3 will look good on you whether you are going for a jog or a formal dinner party. The smooth rounded bezel and simple two button interface allows you to do everything from answering a phone call to recording your fitness routine. The detail and quality of the watch will impress even a true watch aficionado while providing easy access to technology normally associated with much larger devices. With a multitude of apps available to keep you online and connected, the Samsung Gear S3 Classic is as functional as it is stylish. With the ability to order an Uber while on a business trip, send that quick reply message to loved ones, or track your favorite exercise routine without distraction, the Gear S3 will give you the smartwatch experience you have always wanted and make you look good as well.
Disappointed BUT hopeing Samsung will update the OS
As a watch it functions well. The battery life is good for one perhaps one and 1/2 days. The OS is VERY slow and the S Voice is extremely slow. It does not remember information that is input, such as changing the wake up command. When I ask it to do something, like set a timer, it does it once but the next time I ask it tells me that the app is not available and has to be recycled to work again. Trying to do anything with voice commands is extremely slow and generally inaccurate translation of voice to action. I am assuming and hoping that Samsung will address these issues with updates in the near future. Perhaps they rushed this to market a little to quickly. I have an S2 that works will and does not have these problems so I know they can do this.
Gear S3 Classic
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the Gear S3 Classic for over a month already and it is amazing! The fact that you can make or take calls, text message someone, receive notifications and using samsung pay is what sold me to this watch! Can't wait for the next one to come out!
It's Like a Real Watch!
All wearables I've seen have been either low on features or low on look. This actually has both! It doesn't look like a smart watch, which was my first requirement. While it does have a screen that goes dark, it's got a great look and feel and with the addition of a metal band, it's even better.
Do not buy
I have owned this watched for approx. 1 month. As I told the countless Samsung representatives I have spoken to, I will leave my thoughts everywhere possible. The watch does not, and has not, worked since I purchased it. There is a major software issue that causes the phone, that the watch is connected to, to freeze and give an error. This happens every minute or so while using the phone. There are forums out there with thousands and thousands of users experiencing the same issue but Samsung simply says that there is no issue and that I am the only person with the problem (I have seen proof in forums that they are telling everyone this). I will be returning my watch tomorrow and looking for something else to buy. I do believe that this watch could be awesome if Samsung would admit their fault. Even if they gave a timeframe for a fix I would keep the watch and see how it went. However the Samsung customer support on the issue has been nothing short of awful and because of that I'm giving up on it.
Handy, Fun Stylish - Samsung Gear S3 Smart Watch Review
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the S3 for a few days now and really like it. Is it a must in your life or do a bunch of things your phone can't? Not really. But is it handy, fun and stylish? Very much so. If you have the money and want a watch that does a ton of things, go for it. It is a cool “toy” that is very functional. I ended up getting the Classic style one and have both a sport style band and a dressier metal link band so it serves dual function. The bands are easy to switch too. I know my way around electronic stuff but am not a super geek and don't use every function of any device. So this is a casual user review. I am not going into detail because there are tons of videos on YouTube that teach you all the features. Some people think the watch is big but as a triathlete I am used to wearing GPS watches that are even bigger so there was no adjustment to the size for me. The buttons work well and the rotating bezel is pure genius. The screen is great and responsive. The battery life is good and it is easy to charge. Working through the menus is easy via the bezel, buttons or touch screen. I like watches and have 8 in the drawer next to me so imagine my delight at being able to change the faces. With the traditional round design (vs other smart watches) it can look like any watch, can have any color and match your mood or clothes. Samsung Pay: This function works, is fun and easy to use. It will start a conversation too when you use it at the register. Setting it up was pretty easy and it has worked at all the places I have tried so far. It won't work on gas pumps. Phone: Mine is the classic and is not a phone itself. It links to my Samsung S7 via bluetooth. I answered a couple calls on it today. They could not tell I was talking on my watch. I just laid my arm on the desk and talked. Rotate the bezel clockwise to answer, counter clockwise to decline. It will also send pre-made messages which you can customize. Exercise: It does the typical things like count steps, vertical steps, track water, pulse and other fitness watch stuff but I am more interested in training features. I took it on a 5 mile run today. I also wore my sport GPS watch with the heart rate strap. This is a one time comparison and I will be interested to check it some more. The total distance was off a bit and I noticed one glitch on the map. Yes, it records where you go on a run, bike etc. Both watches agreed on the pace, cadence and average heart rate. Impressive. It was off on ascent. If you are into power meters and stuff, it won't do that. So it can work for exercise but I will still be using the sport GPS watch as my go to for exercising. Other uses: I have sent emails, checked messages, read news, checked weather and sent texts on it with no problems. Conclusion. I gave you that in the first paragraph so you wouldn't have to read all of this. If you think I am shilling for Samsung, guess again. I tested their Icon X Ear Buds and posted reviews titled “Not Ready for Prime time”. This watch is MUCH better: I like it.
Amazing hardware, lacking software
I'll start with the positives. I love the look of the watch. The rotating bezel for getting around is a great idea. The buttons on the side feel and respond great. I also really like having a speaker built-in for calls. I get around 3 days of battery life per charge with always on screen turned off. I do turn it off nightly so that effects battery life as well. The thing that ruined the watch for me is the software. I use my smartwatch mostly for checking notifications, responding to message and creating reminders. This is pretty difficult with the terrible S Voice voice commands. S Voice is one of the worst things about the watch. I also wished my notes and reminders from Samsung phone synced to the watch but they do not even using Samsung's apps. The 3rd party app support is also pretty bad although that isn't Samsung's fault so I won't take away starts for that.
never again a missed call
I haven't realized if I really need one, until I had it. The convenience of taking calls without having to pull out my mobile or search for my mobile and making payments at stores without having to take out my mobile/wallet, reason enough for me to jump on the smart watch wagon. I am glad I had this. The premium feel of the watch makes me wear watch all through out day, I use it in swimming pool. Sound quality and mic are good.
Nice watch!!! Classic gear 3
I had a LG Urbane before buying the gear s3 and while I did my homework on both because then I had a LG V10 I went with the Urbane. I still wanted to get gear s3 because I thought it was a better watch and when I bought the LG V20 I bought gear s3. The watch works well with this phone. I did had a little problem with the notifications with the Verizon text though. I had to use the LG text to get it to work. This was the only problem had with this watch.
