Excellent Battery

Chose the AGM model based on feedback from techs because of the 100% maintenance free feature of an AGM sealed battery. I have used it for and 8' boat with a 13lb motor, and a 14' canoe with a 30lb motor and it has provided all day fishing trips for both using the trolling motors for primary propulsion. It is heavy, but maintenance free and slow battery charge drainage are great! Excellent little battery.

Well worth it.

I bought this battery in the beginning of the 2014 season. I did my due diligence of research. This is an East Penn battery. Like anything else, with proper maintenance it will last. 15 foot BlueFin 30hp Johnson. I troll with a 45lb Minn Kota for a few hours a day with 2 people on board with a full cooler and gear. I set my fishfinder alarm for 9 volts and IF the alarm sounds it still spins the starter off like new. One day trolling hard for 3 hours my buddy asked how long the battery lasts, told him I don't know, but I can start the engine if you want. Back to maintenance... the 4 amp charger on my 30HP Johnson wont bring it all they way up on a 4 mile return to the dock. Put the Schumacher charger on it at home and do it again tomorrow. Looking forward to the 7th season.

HOLDS A CHARGE AND GREAT FOR FARM USE

I use this to power an electric fence for goats - solar charged, the set up has some shade in the wintertime, and this battery will draw down until the charger shuts it off, about 11.5 volts. Been doing this with two of these batteries, purchased at the same time (I change one for the other when they finally can't be kept up by the solar) for over 6 years, and they are just now getting to the point they won't hold a charge. Good battery for the price, and AGM / maintenance free can't be beat!

This Battery is bad, bad, bad

I bought two of these in March 2020 for my boat. I installed them in April and they worked very well for a while. The first one went bad just before the 18 warranty expired. The Sam's Club battery tester kept saying that the battery was fine, but it was not. I spent about three hours arguing with them and making them retest the battery. Finally they replaced the battery, just to get rid of me. The second battery went bad a month after the warranty expired, so I'm out of luck. I've never seen batteries that will not even last two years. I will not buy them again.

One dead at 25 months

I purchased two in Jan 2020 to replace flooded wet cell batteries that were 3 years old. I was hoping the AGM would have longer life. WRONG! The 'house' battery is dead at 25 months. The alarm on the chart plotter is set at 12.3V, roughly a 50% charge. Draw on the battery while fishing is the livewell, stereo and marine radio. Last 2 times out fishing the alarm goes off only 30 minutes after shutting the motor off. Going back to flooded wet cell; cheaper and lasts longer.

Tests "fine" but won't last

I bought two of these for a trolling motor with spot lock which pretty much continuously runs the motor when you're stopped. For 15 months they worked flawlessly in windy conditions or not. Could stay out all day and not run out of charge. Then one day they ran out of juice before the day was over. This was despite being faithfully put on the on board two bank charger with smart charging (includes trickle charge) every time I came back from fishing. I tried them again three times, including using another charger in case it was my on board charger that was bad. No luck. I take them back to Sam's and say, "They take a charge but run out of juice so fast they are of no use." The guy tests them on some high tech tester and says. "They test fine, I can't warranty them." So realizing that he has no authority to disregard the "test", I just buy two more batteries. So ultimately this is like taking your phone in and saying the phone battery dies after a full charge after 2 hours. They test it and since it works initially on a full charge, they have to say, "It tests fine." Yeah, let me take you out on the lake 2 miles from shore and we'll shut off the outboard and we'll see about your "tests fine" after you paddle us back. My experience is the warranty is probably only valid if the battery won't take a charge, not if it isn't suitable for purpose. That being said, I don't know that another brand battery would be better, I just realize the warranty is pretty worthless.

Still going…

Bought two of these in May 2018. 5 years and still work fine. Tempted to keep running them but I run offshore so I am replacing for maintenance reasons. Boat sits sometimes for 3 weeks or longer and no issues with battery. If over 3 weeks no use I connect on board NOCO gen3 charger overnight.

Great batteries

I have had two of these batteries since 2017, connected to a small solar system. They have performed well in that time. They do like to be charged daily.

Poor durability

Bought just 2 years ago and it now has no cranking amps. I have other AGM batteries that are going on more than 7 years and charging and working without fail. Cannot recommend this brand

Very pleased

I have three of these. No trouble with them at all and plenty of juice when needed. I've owned them for going on two years. I had one go completely flat but it took a charge and I can't tell any difference in function.
