pOWER CORD WAY TOO SHORT

Bought this a few weeks ago, and have been having trouble with " No Signal" issue. Turns out the power cord is too short (under 24 inches) to realistically reach most power outlets behind a TV. I had to use another power cord I already had, (a 6 ft. cord and because I could then power the device properly, I stopped getting cut off in the middle of a show. It works fine now. ROKU should really send out at least a 6 foot power cord with the new systems.

No AppleTV and no PeacockTV

I have a model 3700X. I purchased this fairly recently. I like the product. However, I just learned AppleTV as well as PeacockTV are unavailable for this model. I have been unable to find a fix for this issue... I cannot recommend a roku device to anyone. FYI. Customer service is a blog site.

Not worth it

In the year that I’ve owned this unit I’ve had nothing but aggravation. Constant Wi-Fi issues and software crashes. My old Roku 2 XS was a far better experience. I don’t live in a big house, nor is it built in a way to cause range issues. I don’t have issues with other devices near it, yet I constantly get dropouts. These interruptions will often cause it to spontaneously reboot, though even just trying to play something will do that. It’s not just a poor performer with Wi-Fi. Every channel will take several seconds to launch. It was almost instant on my old unit. Overall it’s been a downgrade from a unit that was almost ten years old. Don’t be enticed by the low price. Spend a bit more and get a unit with a better wireless chipset and faster CPU. As much as I’ve liked Roku over the competition, I can’t help but feel somewhat soured by my experience.

I used to love Roku.

I've had a Roku box for years and have loved it. I decided to be like the cool kids and upgrade and gave my old box away. Unfortunately the new Roku I bought in September was glitchy. I was sent another that also had issues. So I returned the boxes and am still waiting for my refund as we head into December.

I'm on my second unit,

I've had several Roku unit that last year's but these Express units seem to have bad components and the receiver dies in about 12 months. This is my second unit and it died after 10 month. It goes from giving you a excellent signal level to poor when none of my equipment has changed and my wifi is fine in the rest of the house is perfect. Trying to get a replacement unit through Roku, not very successful.

Was great until it stopped working 4 months later

Purchased this unit because it was the only one in its price point that supported hotel wifi and captive gateway devices. The setup for captive gateways was terribly documented and difficult to do, but once it was done it worked. It was far more difficult than it should have been. It worked well with YouTube and Amazon Prime content, but when it came to Disney Plus it was poor - about every other show you'd watch it would get into a place where the audio would play but the video would basically come to a halt. No quality settings to adjust, and watching content on all other streaming providers were not a problem. This existed when the Roku was the only device using the Wifi, so it wasn't a congested network or wifi problems. Only Disney Plus. It would eventually lock up and the Roku would reboot itself. Very frustrating. It would also get especially hot when playing Disney Plus content. But I never saw the "over heating" warning nor the red light warning. It would just get hot and eventually restart -- aways Disney. The forums say that it does get warm/hot and it isn't really a problem unless you see the warning or red-light -- never saw those. But less than 4 months later (December 20 to March 13) it failed to turn on today. Hard reset didn't help. Changing batteries in remote, replaced HDMI cables, power cables, power adapter, etc. Nothing, zero, zilch. Customer support - none available for this -- only the forums. Reviewed them for hours and tried every suggestion for similar problems, no results. Just sent in an RMA request, and hopefully I'll be able to send this back in for a replacement. Maybe this Disney Plus issue was just unique to this device and this was a one-off problem. But beware! This cheap Roku seems like just that -- cheap.

Easy setup and use

This is our second ROKU and we are gradually getting rid of our cable boxes. As long as you keep one cable box from your cable provider, you can access all cable channels on your ROKU. The only drawback is that changing cable channels is a bit less convenient through a ROKU remote, but the savings over cable are worth the effort

Great except stupid voice

While I still prefer my Roku 2, I do like the speed of the Roku Express. Like when I want to watch CBS This Morning, the speed of the HDMI is practically instantaneous vs AV which can take a minute. I do have one complaint, Roku says if you have a problem CONTACT US, BUT THERE WAS A PHONE BUT NO MORE, NO EMAIL ADDRESS, you post a question and there can be hundreds of answers, none of which pertain to your question..

terrible, slow, doesn't connect to 5Ghz WIFI

I bought this a few weeks ago. LONG TIME Roku 3 user using Ethernet connection or 5 GHz. The Express has no Ethernet port. Tore my hair out trying to connect to 5 GHz WiFi until found out on Forums this cheap ROKU toy doesn't connect to 5 Ghz. (NOT MENTIONED ON THE SALES PAGHE). On default 2.4 GHz channels this takes forever to load, video sometimes stutters, and after resetting it as per instructions, the device "re-organized" my order of 150 channels that were alphabetized). DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. PS - ROKU web manager. this page is screaming “turn off ad blocking to submit review” when Firefox was set to NO BLOCKING, ALL TRACKING ALLOWED, blah blah blah. Plus your support forums are showing ALL TEXT as CENTERED.

Great performance & super easy set-up

We've got our Roku Express installed about 3 weeks as of this review. Set-up is very easy and straight forward. The amount of content available is astounding. Audio and video quality is excellent. We chose the express because our TV is a 1080p so there is no need to get a box that does 4k video since our TV will not display more than 1080. The reviews that state the unit will not connect to their modem or have other connectivity problems may most likely be due to their internet carrier and the modem, not the Roku. If a modem is too slow, or a CATV node is overloaded, video as well as internet will be slow and in some cases not reliable. We have a fiber/coax system in our neighborhood. The main trunk is fiber, but then converted to CATV coax for our subdivision which means we have CATV quality internet. When the CATV node slows my internet slows, but not the Roku! I state all this as information to others who may have internet speed problems which could affect the TV. One other thing that catches many is using the incorrect PW to allow Roku, or any device, to connect to your network. Your router will not allow a device to connect if it requires a correct PW. So why a 4 instead of a 5 star? I never give 5 star ratings. Noting is perfect. Many things are close, but not perfect. Ratings should be 0 to 10 stars to be more accurate.
