After Taste

These cashews are very nice and have very few broken pieces, BUT there is a very nasty swimming pool after taste. I will not buy these again and do not recommend them.

Decline in quality

I've been buying these for years but it seems that recently the quality has gone down. The number of "bad" nuts has gone up noticeably. The containers these come in are very handy so I save them for storing various things in the garage. I retrieved one of the older containers and saw where the nuts had been sourced from just 3 countries; India, South Africa and Vietnam. Now they are sourced from 8 different countries! I suspect that is where the problem comes in. I thought it may have just been a bad batch the first time I noticed the decline in quality but I'm now on my third different purchase of these and the poor quality seems consistent. I'll likely no longer buy these. For what it's worth Sam's doesn't seem to be alone in the decrease of nut quality as the reviews of Planters brand indicate a decline in their quality as well. COVID, the world economy and a lowering of standards in general seem to have combined to lead to a new mediocre normal.

Low Quality

I have purchased these many times in the past and they were acceptable but the last couple of times i have purchased them, they are very dark and bitter tasting. I feel like I'm getting an "outlet" item. I prefer Planter's as I know the quality is good - which you do sell only online now. I wish you could go back to giving your in-store customers a choice-this item has consistently gone downhill in quality.

A Very Poor Quality Product!

I've bought many food items at Sam's Club in the past and most of them are very good but I was very disappointed with this purchase. The cashews are over-roasted making some them almost brittle. So tough to chew you almost want to spit them out for fear of breaking your teeth. Most others are slightly over-roasted and still somewhat brittle. I've never had cashews that were over-roasted but I can only assume that is what the problem is. I see these nuts can come from India, South Africa or Brazil. Perhaps these locations can account for the poor quality but I still think it's the roasting process. Cashews are supposed to be a softer nut. I'm really surprised at this since most food products at Sam's Club are superior. Also, there were many pieces, parts and halves in the jar. So many in fact that I might as well have bought the jar with pieces instead. The only good quality for the nuts is size. For those whole nuts (about 80%) the size was very good. Never buying these again. Now I'm suspicious of all their nut products. What gives?

Love these cashews!

Family member introduced me to these cashews a few years ago. They're outta this world! Read the ingredients; they're roasted in peanut oil which is more expensive to use than other oils like cottonseed but has much better taste and smell. It's also healthier. I've tried the cashews at that other well known wholesale membership place. They're not bad, but these are definitely better!

Member's Mark Whole Cashews fall short!

I have purchased these before and they were pretty good. This time, however, Member's Mark Whole Cashews with sea salt are a complete fail. They are terrible. The 32 ounce container has 50% burnt cashews. They are burned so badly that they taste bitter and chalky. The quality is poor and the burned cashews should never have been mixed in with the good nuts. I have pictures but there is no place to post them here.

Strange taste

I’ve purchased these several times and they’ve always been good. However, the last time I purchased them they had a strange taste; I thought it was a chemical taste but other family members thought they tasted like peanuts. I’m not sure I’ll purchase them again.

false advertising

These should not be labeled as “whole cashews”. At least half of this jar is small pieces of cashews. Another quarter of the jar is cashew halves and at best, one quarter of the jar is whole cashews. They taste fine, and I would buy again, just do not expect whole nuts.

don’t waste your money

These cashews looked amazing - plump- almost all of them were still whole and had not separated into halves. I was so excited until I tasted them. They taste like they rubbed up against a moth ball in production. The after taste was like a straight pesticide taste. So unless you like mothballs I would not suggest buying them!

Watch out for the cashews that are dark (burn oil)

I always buy these when I visit Sams but twice now I have purchased cashews that taste like burnt old peanut oil. Don’t even taste like cashews. They need to do a better job of changing the oil when cooking them. Now I know to not buy the darker batches. Not Good!
