Full of Gristle.

I’ve been buying this for years. This last purchase is full of gristly bits that are impossible to chew. I end up having to manually pick them out before using.

not impressed

These are a terrible substitute for the Hormel brand. Not even on the radar. They are basically raw pieces of fat and gristle. You have to “cook them” just to get some flavor from them and add them to salads or entrees. Then you still get stuck with inedible pieces in every bite... I guess it’s a good way to loose weight because once you take a bite and have to chew on a piece of gristle for 5 minutes, who wants to finish the meal?!? Not me!

Used to be great

The Hormel brand they used to have was great. Now they are using a different brand and it is just disgusting. Fatty, hard to chew, and just yuck. I purchased a first bag and it was so awful that I thought it had just gone bad. Threw the bag away and purchased a second bag. It was just as awful. Will not waste my money again. Please bring Hormel back. I would pay more for edible food.

Fattiest and worst bacon pieces

Worst bacon pieces ever. I was expecting the same quality as the Hormel bacon pieces. Nowhere near it. I threw out food I cooked with it because it was so fatty and gross. i have to cook it down to get rid of the fatty feel in my mouth and crisp it up some. I finally just tossed the whole bag, I was so disgusted by it that i stopped using it. Bought me a big bag of Hormel and life is good again. They have other Hormel stuff, why not the bacon pieces? or both?

BLTC (Bacon, lettuce, tomato, & cheddar!

This keeps so good. I crisp up some, add some cheddar at the last minute and spread it on my bread with tomato, lettuce, and mayo for my BLTC. If I buy regular bacon and cook it ahead - cause it’s a pain if I don’t cook it all at once. I just eat it. All of it fairly quickly. This way I can have a BLT and not be tempted to eat that skinny bacon. This bacon really taste good especially if you just warm it up a little in the fry pan.

Bring back the Old Bacon Crubles.

In the past I had a Sam's Club membership almost exclusively to have the old lean bacon crumbles. It was so much better than anything else I could buy anywhere else-- I think it was Hormel. Lean Picnic Bacon was the secret (even made me look up "picnic bacon"). Now there is little point to having a membership since this fatty disgusting mess is the same quality as everywhere else.

Yuk

Don't buy this. It's about 50% edible bacon and 50% fat and gristle (I.e. the chewy connective tissue in meat). I tried separating good from bad but too time consuming and annoying. Fortunately I have a large dog who's enjoying it as a dinner topper.

Fatty and undercooked

Sam's used to carry Hormel bacon bits, which are delicious and were a staple in our kitchen for 20+ years. Not long ago they stopped carrying Hormel and offered their house brand. Ugh. These are fatty, undercooked, just all around gross. In order to use them as intended (i.e. a flavor accent or topping), I literally had to dump them in a pan and cook them more to make them edible. I buy bacon bits to save the step of cooking bacon, so, by the measure of this effort, I may as well fry up a pound of regular bacon and crumble it up myself. This product is absolutely terrible and a real disappointment. I find Member's Mark products to be hit and miss at best, and this is a big miss. I can't overstate how disgusting these bacon bits are.

bring back the Hormel brand

I would not recommend this to a friend. The package I bought had so much fat I needed to cook them before I could use them. I thought it might just be a my experience but walked into a conversation where two or three people were talking about how bad they were. I could only agree. I’m not planning to buy them again. Please bring back the Hormel Brand. They were more expensive but MUCH higher quality.
