I compared to Costco

I am a member of both Costco and Sam's so I decided to buy their labeled brand of Coffee Beans and compare them. I bought them both today and I ground them exactly the same and used the same amount of water, same burr grinder, same Bunn Coffee maker. I was in the Doughnut Shop business for over 25 years and I know a good cup of coffee and I am looking for a decent brand for our morning pot of coffee. I found the Daily Chef Colombian Supremo to have a richer coffee flavor than the Kirkland brand. There were chocolate notes, oak, with a smooth after taste with the Daily Chef. In contrast the Kirkland had a much lighter coffee taste with a chemical aftertaste that I think was natural, but it was not pleasant. The Kirkland was $9.99 for 2bs while the Supremo was $14.88 for 40 oz.. I do dislike that coffee is not sold uniformly to compare prices easily. I wish they still sold all coffee by the pound. In summary - Daily Chef did definitely cost more than Kirkland (Costco), but I feel the price was worth it in many ways. You may have different experiences, but these were mine.

Misleading packaging

Thought I was buying straight Colombian coffee. On the computer screen I couldn't see the print on the package because it was so small. I couldn't see that it was chocolate/hazelnut flavor, which I thoroughly dislike. What do I do with this bag of coffee?

Great coffee , Taste is wonderful ! BAG IS AWFUL !

We have been buying these coffee beans for many years and love them . The last time we purchased these beans they did not have them in the store so we came home and ordered 4 bags on line . When we received them one whole bag was all over the box and made a mess another bag was slit open. These coffee beans use to have a nice heavy bag . The recent bags are so thin they fall apart in the box before you even receive them . Will not be buying these again until they bring back the thicker bag so we can expect them all in one piece when we get them

Do Not Use For Espresso

I bought this hoping it'd be good for espresso purposes. While it can be ground fine enough for espresso machines, it does not taste all that good. After just 1 month, I feel like the beans have gone stale. Very minimal crema to begin with and now it's basically disappeared. Yes, fresh is the way to go when it comes to espresso, but I wanted to try this simply because “fresh” beans are much more expensive. I'll be giving the rest of these beans to my neighbor to use with his French Press.

Response to Negative Comments

I looked at some of the negative comments on Member's Mark Colombian Supremo Coffee Beans and had to comment. I have purchased green supremo from several estates in Colombia and air roasted it myself. Member's Mark is not as good as roasting it yourself and grinding just prior to brewing, about 24 hours after the roast, but, for a mass produced product it is great, it has the taste and caramel notes that Colombian coffee is known for, and is roasted correctly. I saw complaints that included "it was too strong" ....like saying is was too hot. I think some have looked at the description "Sweet chocolate and hazelnut notes" and assume it will taste like a candy bar. It said "notes" not the whole song. A few complained about the oil on the beans. To my taste, the perfect roast for Colombian coffee is a darker medium roast that is stopped after the second "Pop" starts. This brings a small amount of oil to the surface of the bean. Members mark is roasted like this, as evidenced by the amount of oil on the surface of the beans and the small amount of little craters on the beans. For mass produced coffee, and assuming you know how to store, grind and brew it correctly; if you like coffee this is good coffee, if you like Colombian coffee this is great coffee.

Love this coffee

I really love this coffee from Sams. I have tried many others including the Starbucks coffee and always come back to the Columbian. It is the perfect strongness I need in my coffee. I love using the Click n pull option, that way I can just go in and pick up my items!
