For years the original Pike Place Roast "smooth and balanced" was the only bean I have enjoyed. When seeing the new brown bag labeled "chocolate and toasted nut" notes, I knew I could not drink it. Flavored coffee of any kind nauseates me. I did get a bag as there was no original, and did not like the introduction of unnatural favors. Please Please Please bring back the original "smooth and balanced".

I was able to get my hands on the old bag that had the 71 on it and I can now confirm, that the new pike's place roast is different!! The new formula is what others are mentioning as bad!!! It seems like a darker roast and has bitter notes. I hope Starbucks goes back to the old formula, otherwise I'll have to find another medium roast elsewhere. In the meantime I will savor and enjoy my last bag of the old formula.

Pikes Peak has a nice strong but mellow flavor. I have switched to using the instant coffee because it always taste fresh, never has the stale coffee flavor that coffee pots get that is impossible to get rid of, and if I want it stronger I can just add another package of VIA. I have quit brewing my own coffee because of that stale coffee flavor from the pot and have quit ordering coffee from the Starbucks stores because their coffee has that same stale coffee taste,

This roast is on the mid-light side of a medium roast. I opened my brand new store-bought bag of coffee beans, and the beans were nearly black. The beans were secreting oils from over-roasting. They need to change the scale for Pike Place. This was easily a medium-dark roast. The aftertaste burns my throat as I type this message (this is no exaggeration).

I grew up in ships where 8 and 10 cups of coffee a day was the norm. What else was there to do crossing the Winter North Atlantic then wedge yourself into a corner of the bridge with a fresh cup of brew. The brew back then was something out of a #10 can and had a marketing slogan like "good to the last drop." What did we know? Later, I lived in Hawai'i and coffee from the Big Island's Kona Coast became something of an obsession. Very deserving living in Paradise. Now, when I travel the world -- no longer in ships -- I find it downright comforting to taste the same Pike Place brew whether it's on the Circular Quay in Sydney or at terminal whatever at London's Heathrow or on a sidewalk in Tokyo. Ray Kroc was right, but he wasn't thinking coffee beans. Here's to Starbucks and one great tasting Pike Place brew!

I love the smoky taste and it will always be my go-to for coffee. I like the convenience of the pods, because when we are all pressed for time in the morning, it's just minutes for a superb cup of coffee.

this is my back up bean, like when i forget to order soon enough, or delivery is moving at a snails pace and i run out of what i really like to drink. then this is my hold over coffee, used to be my fav untill i remembered a blend i used to make up long ago, when my kids were small(now 40's)..see kenyan and sumatran for my fav. but this gets me through be it operator error, equipment failure or natural disaster like Casscadia or the Tsunami..i work emerg. med/ecomms/ops as a mngr, yes one of those, and this is what i have at the office, ground...we all have, good stuff, indeed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Standard Starbucks coffee here. They're k-cups for your machine. It's a medium, easy drinking roast for all occasions. There are 10 pods in this particular packaging. Each one was delicious. Save the gas, go with pods, recycle them!
