Effective Cleaning

I received this product to review and found it to be well made and efficient. It does take a little getting used to, and in the directions you`ll find that it ships with an introductory setting for the toothbrush while the user adjusts. Overall I found the brush easy to use and effective. It cleans better than my previous electric toothbrush and I have noticed an improvement in cleaning with it`s use. The design is simple and ergonomic and the glowing led indicators give it a modern look. I would love it if it were just a little shorter so that it could fit into my medicine cabinet.

LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the ProtectiveClean 6100 Sonicare in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I am so glad that I agreed to try this product. My dental hygienist has encouraged me for years to use an electric toothbrush. I purchased one about 5 years ago and used it infrequently. From the first time trying this product, I have been excited to use it, sometimes two or three times a day. Initially, the brush looked so small and I was skeptical. After using it once, I found the brush to be the perfect size-allowing me to effortlessly reach every tooth. When I was brushing manually, I thought I was brushing for two minutes-I was probably brushing for 30 seconds. When I use this Sonicare brush,I want to keep brushing, sometimes 4 minutes or more. After each use, my teeth feel like they were just professionally cleaned. I have some front teeth that are slightly crooked and I have to pay extra attention to them when I am brushing manually. This brush reaches to the areas where stuff collects without me even thinking about it. I like the whitening and gum features. The base on my other electric toothbrush often looked grungy, this base is easy to clean and looks sleek and modern on my sink vanity. I find the sound, at first, a little loud and annoying, but it is comparable to the other electric brush I own and this would not deter me from purchasing and using this product. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the eco-friendly packaging. The waste was cardboard, all recyclable, no plastic, YAY! I plan to buy this product as gifts for family and friends. I can't wait for my next dental appointment---the hygienist won't have to work so hard! Great Product!

Verified Purchase

Just one problem

I am disappointed in the area that holds the mouth wash. If you do not use all of what you put in - it leaks out. Doesn't seem to have a real tight seal. The rest of the item is good. It did take me a couple of times to learn how to get the best results between the teeth

A bit pricey and others have better sensation.

I received a sample of the ProtectiveClean 6100 Sonicare toothbrush and was a bit nonplussed. For the price point, it seems a bit high compared to competition. I had an oral-B sonicare previous that spins and think I like that funciton more than this one, which simply vibrates. The vibration isn`t as pleasant a feeling as the rotate of the oral-b types of brush. The instructions were clear enough, easy to use, the feature of low or high setting is OK, but as said, the vibration is a little strong on all and not sure how well it cleans compared to the spinning types of brush head. I`d suggest less powerful vibration.

Easy Plug and Go

My husband and I wanted to buy easy to use but good quality electric toothbrushes. After reading several reviews we decided on Philips Sonicare 6100 ProtectiveClean. It is incredibly easy to plug in and use. The buttons are simple and the instructions couldn't be easier.

Excellent cleaning but not very user-friendly

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The Good: Wow! This toothbrush leaves my teeth so clean! Even several hours after brushing, my teeth still feel as clean and smooth as right after a professional dental cleaning and polishing. My gums feel healthier, too. I think the ultrasonic waves clean between my teeth better than other electric toothbrushes I`ve used. I like that the brush handle is lighter weight and less bulky than older electric toothbrushes and that it comes with a travel case. I could actually see myself bringing it on a trip. The travel case has room to hold 2 brush heads. For use at home, 1 charge lasts 2 full weeks, so it takes up minimal counter space. The toothbrush is very easy to assemble, comes pre-charged, and has a very compact charging base. The Bad: I was surprised to read in the manual that a different brush head is recommended for each of the toothbrushes 3 brushing modes (clean, white, and gum care). This made me feel like I could only use the white brushing mode, which is a 2.5 minute brushing cycle. One of the large buttons on the toothbrush switches between brushing modes, but I always kept it on white mode as the brush came with a W brush head (despite the manual recommending a newer W2 brush head). The other settings were less intuitive to use and require referring to the manual each time a change is needed. To turn functions such as EasyStart, Brush Head Replacement Reminder, or Pressure Sensor on and off, you hold down the start button until it beeps a certain number of times, and then release the button. A triple tone of low-medium-high or high-medium-low means the feature has been activated or deactivated. You have to check the manual to see which feature is after 2 beeps, after 3 beeps, etc. and which set of 3 tones indicates activated vs. deactivated. There`s no visual indicator on the brush for which of these features are turned on. The Ugly: The toothbrush is very loud and the vibrations are so strong that toothpaste flew out of my mouth and only my bathroom mirror when I opened my mouth slightly to reposition the brush to reach certain parts of my mouth. It was loud enough that I couldn`t hear someone talking right next to me. The toothbrush also has 4 very bright white lights on the toothbrush that turn on as soon as you pick up the toothbrush and stay on throughout use. I may cover these with tape as I find that uncomfortably bright, especially right before bed. Other thoughts: It would be nice if the toothbrush came with something for storing more brush heads on the bathroom counter. It would be ideal to purchase 3 different brush heads to be able to use the 3 brushing modes, and some households might want more than 1 person to share the same toothbrush base but with their own brush heads. Another electric toothbrush I`ve used came with a countertop case that holds 4 brush heads and has an easy way to color code different people`s brush heads. Something like that would be an improvement for this product. The travel case is bulky for just storing 2 brush heads--it`s designed for when you need to store the tooth brush base and the charger, too. The bottom line for me is that I`ll probably continue to use this toothbrush once a day, but use a different one that`s quieter, less messy, and doesn`t have bright lights at other times. The quality and outcome are great, but it would benefit from some changes to make it more user-friendly.

I like them, but..

I started using Sonicare many years ago before they changed the brush head style. Those first ones were built like tanks. The new ones are more fragile, more expensive, and have fewer features. I recently bought a competitor brand, and although I don't like the tiny round brushes, the handles have rubber molded in so you can grip them better, a much better quality feel, and the brush head mounting takes the stress off the shaft. They also have more brush modes, more brush head options, and they can attach to my phone to track usage. Oh, there's also a programmable light ring color so you can tell them apart. All for less than these. (Sonicare, in case you're reading this, this is a hint to either improve the product, or reduce the price to a reasonable level) That said, I think these do a better job cleaning my teeth. I just hope they last long enough to be worth the cost. I'm keeping the other ones, just in case.

The product worked well BUT for 2 years only

It worked really well for the first two years. However, after that, the battery performance declined significantly. Now, my toothbrush needs to be recharged after only three days of use. Also, it's vibrating less powerfully, and the metal shaft where the brush head fits is loose. Luckily, I had six more months of extended warranty, so I got a replacement toothbrush handle. But yeah, I did have higher expectations for such an expensive toothbrush.

Model 6100 no case as per picture

Haven't tried this yet but was I immediately disappointed that it didn't come with a travel case. It shows a case in the pic with the brush. There was a space in the box where I thought the case should be. Yet, no case. Sure wish my crystal ball wasn't in the shop. I might have seen this coming.

Needs to be redesigned with durable buttons.

I have used sonicare for years, and personally love the product itself and it's performance. My problem is the turn on and off button always disintegrates in less than a year, causing the toothbrush not to turn on or off properly, so your forced to buy another one. For the price of this toothbrush, it should not need to be replaced in less than a year. Three years in a row! Phillip sonicare, please address the issue of the on off button disintegrating due to the fabric it's made out of.
