Know this

This oil meets Mercedes specifications for 229.5 oil. I am not a chemical engineer and I don’t own a multi million dollar lab for the formulation testing and evaluation of engine oils. In addition Mercedes Benz has tested and evaluated this oil and approved it. I am not knocking other oil companies and I am sure they make fine products. However many high end cars come from the factory with Mobil one in their cars. Do you really these manufacturers wouldn’t put a better product in their cars if they could find it. For overall best performance I stick with the proven product and that is Mobil One. I am not going to try to out guess Mercedes Benz, Bentley, Porsche, or Corvette among others. You aren’t going to beat a man at his own game. You can use this product with complete confidence in its performance. Just use the correct product for you engines specifications is recommended by the manufacturer. Don’t get any brilliant ideas on your own and you’ll be happy.

Mobil 1 FS 0w-40 for MB S320 is the BEST

Always used this oil since new now have 275k miles. Engine is clean internally as when new. No external leaks. No loss of one drop between changes. Engine runs and sounds as NEW. This product is the best and will assist me in reaching my goal of at least 500k miles.

Immediate increase in fuel savings

Was using CAM2 5w40, but it's performance was average, but better than the Castrol 5w40 in some respects - the CAM2 didn't get black as fast and didn't burn-off as quick as the Castrol. I evacuated all old oil and added the Mobil 1 0w40. The car started smoother, felt more responsive and mpg gauge was incredible! I was getting very good mileage - much higher mpg than what I was getting after a fresh oil change with the other oils I was using.

Great cleaning ability

I just started using this oil, and it's working great! According to the PDS, it "Provides exceptional cleaning power for dirty engines". This is proving to be true, I have been looking down the oil fill cap with a flashlight since I started using this oil, and what I can see of the valve train is becoming cleaner. The other oil brands prior to Mobil left the metal with a layer of yellowish/orange varnish. The Mobil 0W-40 is cleaning the metal and it is turning the silvery and shiny color of new metal! Particularly on the shaft behind the gears of the DOHC. Overall, the engine is really smooth, really pleased with this oil! Keep up the great work!

Most don't understand oil ratings

No I don't work for Mobil or its affiliates, I was simply exhausted with scanning through the marketing materials presented by the majority of engine oil manufacturing. Therefore I learned what all those specifics mean related to engine lubricants mean and whittled them down to this one very simple equation: Pick the synthetic lubricant which has the lowest possible thickness at cold temperature rating (40 deg C) while also being able to maintain at least 10cSt thickness at operating temperature (100 deg C). Mobil 1 0W-40 was able to achieve all three of these requirements 1) Synthetic lubricant (uniform molecules which have been purified 2) Viscosity - Thickness at 40 deg C = 70.8 cSt 3) Viscosity - Thickness at 100 deg C = 12.9 cSt Therefore I was able to choose one single lubricant for all my passenger vehicles, which is available locally without special order. Those looking for a go-to standard engine oil would find Mobil 1, 0W-40 one of the best alternatives for meeting this requirement. I will modify this response, once I am able to perform lubricant analysis at my next oil change

Perfect performing oil

I have been using this oil for 6 years in 5k mile intervals and it’s been amazing. The weight is perfect for Florida weather but also performs really great in the cold. I’ve worked in a dealership with 5 European brands all of which use 0W-40 for specific cars. Highly recommend the product to anyone looking to use it on their own car.

300,000+ miles and going

I purchased my Jetta new in 2011. I change my oil every 10,000 regularly using only Mobil 1, 0W-40 and I am at 310,000 miles without any issues with my engine in all that time. I plan on going to 400,000+ miles. If I ever buy and new car I will definitely use Mobil 1 for that one as well.

I run this in all my euros

I feel that if this oil is good enough to be an OEM oil for Mercedes I can run it in my VWs. I have ran this oil in 5 of my Volkswagens (2 with over 200K), 3 Mercedes(1 with over 300K), 4 other cars that I maintain for friends and family and have always had good luck with this oil. I run 5K intervals on my turbocharged cars and 10K on my NA Mercedes and VWs and have never had issues in terms of engine wear or oil consumption.

VW/Audi Approved Oil

I have used Mobil 1 FS 0-40W in all of my VW’s and Audi’s and can tell you this is simply the best choice for your Synthetic Oil needs. My VW had over 200,000 miles on it before the timing belt gave out and my two Audi’s have 125,000 and 165,000 with no problems. I have tried Penzoil and I have had to add a quart before I reached my 3,000 interval but not with Mobil 1 as my oil stays full. Great product that’s compliant with VW/Audi engines and wouldn’t use any other Synthetic Oil.

Qualitative experience

First time I used Mobil 1 on my 86' Porsche Carrera I was surprised to find that the oil pressure settled down into its fully warmed proper range within 60 seconds of starting the engine from cold in cold winter. This was something that took ten or more min. with my previous oil fill. Seeing that most engine wear happens when oil is cold before it warms into its normal range of viscosity and the Mobil 1 oil moves into the proper range very quickly from cold I have continued to use it ever since in my cars. I know when it needs to be changed on my very hot running air cooled engines where the engines use little to no oil until about six or seven thousand miles on the oil change at which time it begins to consume a little oil. This prompts me to do an oil change under the theory that the oil's additive package is starting to not function when oil consumption increases.
