I was very excited to try the Gillette Venus Silk-expert as I have been contemplating getting professional laser hair removal. Upon opening the box, the product was packaged neatly and will enable me to store the product effectively in the future. The directions on how to use the product and any cautionary items were thorough. Preparing the area prior to using the product was extermely easy and you can utilize the included razor. The product is lightweight and has a sensor that helps you know if you have applied the device to your skin correctly. By clicking a button, the device then flashes a pulse of light. Once it does that, you can move it to the next section of your skin and repeat. I do understand that this will take several weeks to completely remove all of the hair or inhibit the hair growth. I am looking forward to the next few weeks of using the product and seeing the results.

So when I was given a chance, by Braun, to try the product for free, I couldn't have been more excited!!! I think I checked the mailbox a million times waiting for it to arrive. The box finally arrived, and I dove right in. I began by reading thru the instructions. I found them easy to understand, but I felt a little intimidated by the Silk-expert (probably because I read it could be a little painful). To begin, it is suggested that you do a 24-hour spot test to be sure there is no negative reaction. That was the longest 24 hours ever!!! I was so excited to get started. I'm three weeks into treatment now, and have found the Silk-expert very simple to use. Most areas are easy to reach, but you might have to change direction around the ankles and others places where the area is too narrow to activate the Silk-expert (it does not work unless it is fully pressed against the skin). So far, I only have two little downsides...First, the light is very bright. The instructions say you don't need eye protection, but that you may want to look away from the light (however, it's hard to look away and watch what you're doing.) Second, I was surprised by the sting of the full strength light. I switched over to gentle.

It comes in a great packaging and had a well documented, helpful manual. The setup is as simple as plugging the device into an outlet. The silk expert is easy to maneuver and has great safety features to ensure proper use. For sensitive areas such as the underarm I recommend using the lower setting to start, but for area like the legs I found it to be unnecessary. As this is a multi week program to see results, I'm excited to see less and less hair to remove! I received the Silk Expert to try in exchange for an honest review of the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't quite sure what this product does or how to use it but the fact that it could be used to remove hair was enough of a selling point for me to sign up for this campaign. When it came, I felt like I had hit the lotto. I was a little disappointed after reading the instructions that it said you couldn't use on your face. I was hoping to get rid of some peach fuzz. When I took the product out, I had no idea what to do with it. I'm a person who normally doesn't read the instructions, but for this product I read the instructions about 5x and was still not exactly sure what to do with this time. It turned on easily enough. I decided to test it on my legs. The instructions suggested testing a small patch. I pushed the gentle button, which looks like a feather not knowing if I was going to be burned or having hair pulled out or what I should expect. I didn't really feel much. After a few tests, I decided to keep going. I believe I got the hang of it and did the bottom of my two legs. I can't speak to any kinds of results and I'm not sure how this will work but I will continue trying this out.

I love the way it looks. The instructions are simple to follow. So I am ready to go. I shaved a small section of my leg and tried it. Waited 24 hours as instructed. No reaction. I shaved my legs and armpits and tried it out. It was simple to use on my arm pits. The regular setting was great. Just took a couple minutes. It was warm but didn't hurt. On to the legs. It was bulky and difficult to get started around my ankles at first but once I found a position that worked, it was great. I had to switch it to gentle for my knees and behind my knees. I found it was faster to push the button each time rather than hold it down. By the time I finished my first leg, my hand was tired. I think it would be better if it was slightly smaller. Overall, it was easy to use and fairly gentle. Now I am waiting to see the results.

I've used it for two weeks and felt a noticeable change with my leg stubble. It's been 5 days since I used it last and I have very little hair growth. I usually feel noticeable stubble within two days. It's ergonomically correct and I have no getting to hard-to-reach spots. I'm excited to finish the 6 week recommended cycle to see how smooth my legs and underarms really get.

I have waited the full 8 weeks to give my verdict and I have to admit- despite my doubts, it really does work! The first 3 times I tried the Venus Silk Expert I felt that it was a waste of my time. First of all, the pulsing light was really bright! I mean shockingly bright. I was worried that the light would hurt my eyes so I started using sunglasses with it. The light didn't hurt or burn, but it did leave my skin a little red. I used the Venus Silk Expert on my left arm pit and I didn't use it on my right arm pit for comparison. I noticed no difference in the hair growing back at first. After about 4 treatments (4 weeks) I did notice that the hair in my left armpit was growing back more slowly than the hair in my right armpit. I also felt that the sunglasses made using this product much easier- especially if you are using it close to your face. Now- after the full 8 weeks of treatment, my skin is used to the pulse-light and it no longer gets red after treatments and no hair is growing in that armpit. Now that the trial is over, I am going to start using it on both armpits so that I never have to shave there again. Thanks Venus Silk Expert!

I had been looking at getting one of these but the price tag always turned me off. I received my Braun and tried it right away. First you have to shave the areas you want to treat with a razor that they provide (or you can use your own, but nice that they supply one too). Then, it's so easy just plug the unit in and you are ready to go. Very simple to use. Took no time at all. Just glided it along my legs and then did my bikini area also. No pain at all. No super hot heat. It was a breeze! Says it take 6-12 weeks to see results but so far I love it! Thanks Braun!!

I had profession laser hair removal done in the past and it was expensive. This product is a fraction of the cost. I am looking forward to seeing a reduced amount of hair. When using it, there is a flash of light and a slight tinge of pain, but it wasn't bad at all especially if you have had done wax or eppilator hair removal. That can be very painful. The silk-expert may more painful to some, but well worth it for a reduction of hair growth.
