I read through the whole manual before I tried it to make sure I knew exactly how it worked. I was a little scared about shooting myself with a laser! The manual says to not use it on freckles, moles, dark spots, etc. I am fair skinned with dark hair (the ideal for using this product), but I have a ton of freckles and moles on my legs, so using it on my legs without hitting one of those is impossible. Also the manual stated that you should avoid sun exposure for 7 days on the treatment area. This is probably doable in the winter, but it's summer now and a lot of my body is getting sun exposure every day. So I recommend that if you want to do arms or legs to start use this product in the winter so you can follow that rule. Due to this I decided to use this on my underarms and bikini area. I followed the instructions and prepared by shaving the treatment areas with the included razor. I plugged it in and a loud fan starts to run. Figuring out how to do the treatments took a little practice, but I feel like I had mastered it by the third time using the unit. At first it is hard to figure out if you are putting the treatment areas close enough together, but you can see the areas you missed as the hair glows back in. For me some areas had finer hair and slower growth, then there were strips between these areas with normal hair, so I could see I needed to do the treatments closer together. The treatments feel like when you accidentally touch your curling iron to your skin for a second (really hot, but it doesn't burn). For me the skin looked the same after being treated and wasn't even red. There was also a slight burned hair smell. I have done three treatments one week apart so far and I'm seeing results. The hair coming in is finer and growing slower. I'm going to continue using the unit because it's so nice not to have to shave my underarms every day! I was so excited to use this Gillette Venus Silk-expert. I took it out of the package and got a little intimidated! I've had professional laser hair removal so it didn't seem possible that I could do it myself. I buzzed through the easy to read instructions and found myself a little more confident. I prepped my skin with the included razor (bonus!!) I plugged it in and was ready to go. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use. My skin tone is very light so it was automatically set to the highest setting. I used the gliding setting and went up my leg in a breeze. The area around my ankle and knees were most "challenging" but even that was a breeze. If the contact area wasn't positioned correctly it turned red and I moved it slightly or pressed down a little firmer then it was ready to go. I would say it probably took 10-15 minutes per leg but that was mostly because I was going slower to ensure I did it properly. There was a slight pinch feeling when the laser zapped but it was minimal and if you have sensitive skin you can press a button to turn down the intensity. The lights on the side allow you to easily tell if you have good contact with your skin and adjust as needed. I would consider myself a novice at home treatments but feel as though this product was so easy anyone could use it.

When I heard that Braun was sending it to me for free, I was so excited to have the opportunity! It was beautifully packaged and easy to unpack. The instructions were very well written and not confusing at all. Since it takes 8-12 weeks for a full treatment, I couldn't wait to try this thing out! I am one of those people who can't shave my underarms every day or I break out...and I mean bad. So I typically shave every 3 days or so. I decided to try the Silk Expert on my right underarm and the bottom of my right leg in order to compare the results. The first time I tried it, it was painless on my underarm! On my leg (in some more sensitive areas), it felt like a rubber band snap. The pain didn't linger at all, in fact, I had no redness, pain, itchiness or anything! Already, I'm noticing that the hair on my right underarm is growing back thinner and slower than my left! On my leg, the hair is patchier and feels softer! This thing is awesome! So far I've used it 3 times and I'm seeing some awesome results! I cant wait to see my results with a full treatment!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having had professional laser hair removal on my upper and lower legs in the past, I have been looking for a way to deal with all the random stray hairs that are still on my legs without spending a ton of money - and the Venus Silk-expert seemed really interesting! I loved the fact that it has a pretty wide treatment surface and a glide mode. I really liked the packaging - made the product seem very high end. And I appreciated that they included a new razor and clear instructions for how to prep. I was a little disappointed to find out that the device doesn't charge but rather needs to be plugged in while you use it, but the cord is pretty long so that's not really too much of an inconvenience. I was putting off my first treatment because I had recently been on vacation in the Caribbean and I wanted to wait til all the color I got faded, but a few weeks passed and I realized it was time to try it. I'll admit that I was a bit nervous about how it might feel - and was surprised to find that it really didn't bother me at all! Definitely less painful than laser hair removal treatments. While my skin felt sort of "hot" (like a sunburn) for a few minutes after the treatment, it was gone quickly. It was also really easy to do - and as I suspected, the glide mode was really helpful for a large treatment area like your legs. Can't wait to see how the results work after the next few treatments!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Venus Silk-expert for over a month now. I used in on my underarms. The directions were easy to follow. The pulsating light felt warm with a little sting every time I pressed the treatment button. I became used to it very quickly though. The light is a little bright so I would not recommend looking at it directly. I used it once a week and noticed a significant decrease in the number of hairs growing back under my arms. It's so easy to use and I'm so happy that I don't have to shave every other day anymore. I can't wait to try it on other parts of my body.

Having had professional laser hair removal before, I was going into this expecting some level of pain. Now having used the Venus Silk-expert, I have to say I was very surprised and felt nothing at all. To start with, I only did my lower legs. The glide feature made the whole experience very easy. I did have a few issues finding the right angle around my ankles, but I think this will come with use. Even after the first use, I did notice a difference, as the stubble did not show up for an extra day. I am really looking forward to seeing if this trend continues and improves. All that good, but I do have two complaints. One, the light is very bright and no eye protection is provided. Even when I close my eyes and look away, the flash is easily visible. It would be nice if some eye protection was provided with the system. Second, the unit did start to get hot as I was using it, not hot enough to burn, but hot enough that I turned it off to let it cool down. I don't know if that is typical of the unit, or just happened with mine, but it could be concerning.

I used this for the first time tonight after my shower. Although I read the manual, it was still hard to use. I didn't know what level the Venus Silk-expert was at (hard to tell), and didn't know what setting I was using (the broad setting or the one for small areas). I kept hitting the button hoping doe it to do its thing. I also don't like that's it has to be plugged in in order for it to work. I used on my legs, under arms and bikini area. I felt a small tiny pinch in my arm pits and bikini area. No noticeable reaction otherwise.

As I have continued usage, I have seen amazing results. I just got back from a 10 day camping trip and my legs are just as smooth as the day I left. I am seeing great results on both my underarms and legs. My bikini area is taking a little longer to respond fully, but the lack of re-growth is still very impressive. I would highly recommend Silk-expert to anyone, and have already told all of my friends about it.

I have always been curious about products like this but the price always deterred me from buying it! I am not seeing much results so far but it is a long process to get the results I am looking for.
